For example, the global output of chemicals increased approximately 12 times between 1970 and 2020. The burden of disease attributable to exposure to chemicals is significant. World Health Organization estimates that globally, about 5 million deaths and 90 million disability - adjusted life years are attributable to occupational, environmental exposure and management. Public authorities and employers need access to reliable information on chemicals and practical, widely-accepted risk assessment methods in order to effectively control and minimize this threat. To support the management of chemical substances in small and mediumsized enterprises, the UK Health and Safety Executive developed the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Essentials (COSHH Essentials), a control banding technique that determines the management method by assigning the qualitative work environment characteristics of the enterprises to a hazard and exposure prediction band. Qualitative tools were used for assessing the risk of these chemicals, creating solutions, and implementing control measures in various industrial fields. The present paper synthesizes the results of an extensive research study, dedicated to the evaluation of chemical risks within a Romanian company which has as object of activity the mechanical processing of steel laminates and their treatment by methods of electrochemical deposition of hard chromium / electrochemical nickel plating. The application of the simplified health, safety and environmental risk assessment methodology developed by the French National Security Research Institute (INRS) was considered to be the most appropriate in the preliminary phase of identifying and prioritizing the risks associated with chemicals used in technological processes in selected company. Based on the obtained results, the prevention and protection plan regarding the chemical risks was elaborated, the implementation of which led to the reduction of the workers’ exposure and to the minimization of the probability and severity of the potential consequences.","PeriodicalId":315981,"journal":{"name":"System Safety: Human - Technical Facility - Environment","volume":"357 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115860826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some of them have been completely closed, with no possibility of any professional activity, others have changed the manner of performing employee tasks, place and time. Many jobs have been moved home. These were mainly service industries, where exposure to psychophysical hazards increased incomparably to the previous working conditions. Administrative and office work during the Covid-19 pandemic has brought huge changes in the form of an increased risk of musculoskeletal disorders. This article presents the results of quantitative and qualitative research on the scale of musculoskeletal ailments in the administrative and office work of academic teachers and preventive measures to reduce the effects of these ailments. The research was conducted remotely using a questionnaire in three research and teaching centers in the Silesian Voivodeship. Quantitative research was supported by a direct interview conducted directly among academic teachers at one of the universities in the Silesian Voivodeship. According to the presented research results, respondents noticed a significant increase in musculoskeletal disorders dictated by the rapid change in working conditions related to the Covid-19 pandemic. Every second respondent pointed to non-ergonomic working conditions at home and a long time of exposure to static physical load, with particular emphasis on the sitting position (at the computer), as the main cause of the ailments. The research also touched on issues related to preventive measures to minimize the aforementioned ailments undertaken by both universities and the respondents themselves. The presented results are part of a larger whole planned over time.","PeriodicalId":315981,"journal":{"name":"System Safety: Human - Technical Facility - Environment","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114694632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Automating pro-health behaviors affects behaviors that do not require large amounts of psychoenergetic resources, thus accumulating energy for other life processes. The aim of this article is to analyze the eating behavior and physical activity among employees of corporations with diet based on an externally supplied box diet which is make on their own nutritional choices (they use diet catering meals). The empirical study covered clients of enterprises offering dietary catering. An individual in-depth interview was used as a qualitative research technique. The conclusion to be drawn from the conducted empirical study is that people using externally supplied box diets do not develop healthy eating habits. In the periods when they eat independently, in most cases they do not pay attention to the health, regularity and caloric content of the consumed meals.","PeriodicalId":315981,"journal":{"name":"System Safety: Human - Technical Facility - Environment","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129553562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis was performed in terms of two research periods - 1 year and quarters, and from the point of view of total complaints and external - customer complaints. Data on the number of products complained of as well as financial losses incurred by the company on this account were analysed. The article presents the potential of both classic quality tools and statistical tools for the purposes of in-depth analysis of complaints data and for predictive purposes and subsequent risk analysis. The critical complaint was indicated - complaint code 403 - overprint. The number of complained products to be expected in the next quarter of the new year was determined. The article shows that the corrective and preventive actions taken by the company have not yet brought the expected result in the form of reducing the number of products complained by customers during the quarters surveyed.","PeriodicalId":315981,"journal":{"name":"System Safety: Human - Technical Facility - Environment","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121207469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current management of these wastes is limited to their controlled depositing in landfills, which does not ultimately solve the problem of their impact on the environment in the future. The article presents the current state of disposal of asbestos in Poland, with particular emphasis on the Silesian Voivodeship. The literature reports on the methods of neutralizing this type of waste and the possibility of their recycling were analyzed. It was found that the most popular way of recycling asbestos waste is thermal treatment, and the least effective - chemical treatment. Unfortunately, legal barriers prevent the spread of these solutions in the country in practice, despite the fact that safe methods of recycling asbestos-cement products are known.","PeriodicalId":315981,"journal":{"name":"System Safety: Human - Technical Facility - Environment","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115012606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
