Design/methodology/approach Using the Statistik Industri Besar dan Sedang from BPS we extract the data about the market share and productivity of each firm that will represent market power and the firms’ performance respectively. The dataset also allows us to apply dynamic panel data that might address the endogeneity and reverse causality problem which could occur in the estimation. Findings The results suggest that market power has an inverted U-shaped relationship with firms’ productivity. Further analysis shows similar conditions also occur in all selected industries except automotive. Research limitations/implications This study could help policymakers if they want to influence firms’ performance based on their market share. Design/methodology/approach This research method used an ordinal logistic regression analysis approach where the dependent variable consists of cumulative predicate categories based on the EQI assessment interval as determined by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Findings This study finds that the per capita GDRP and poverty have positive and significant effects on the Environmental Quality Index. However, The Human Development Index and expenditures in environmental and forestry functions have negative and significant effects. Research limitations/implications Based on the findings, the local and central government, through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in cooperation with business people required to conduct the Environmental Impact Analyses, should participate in PROPER. Design/methodology/approach The research was conducted using firm data during 2008-2020 and considered the long-term investment concept. Meanwhile, the cross-section of 672 companies and the ordinary least square technique were used to get the estimation. Findings The estimation result showed that the effective tax rate has significant negative effect on fixed asset investment. If effective tax rate decrease, it can be because the company gets tax rate reduction incentives, conduct accelerated depreciation, fiscal reconciliation on the financial statement which can increase fixed asset investments. Moreover, the estimation also showed that the age of the company is able to strengthen the relationship between effective tax rate and company investment. The difference in domestic and foreign companies does not affect the elasticity ETR toward investment. Research limitations/implications Based on the estimation result mentioned, it is expected to provide guidance in implementing incentive tax, which can encourage public company investment. Design/methodology/approach The efficiency was measured using a two-step bootstrap analysis, i.e. DEA BCC and DEA Bootstrap. Findings This study finds that the efficiency estimation uses DEA BCC overestimate and that the proximity between electrical sources and customers becomes one of the supporting factors for the electricity distribution process and reduces losses. Furthermore, workforce input, nameplate capacity, and network length will be adjusted to customers; electricity demand needs as a component of the electricity distribution process from plants to consumers. Research limitations/implications This study uses the output of the number of customers and the amount of electricity distributed while the input variables use the amount of labor, installed capacity, and length of the distribution network. Originality/value This study uses DEA Bootstrap and the variables used in the study is a combination of variables that have been proven to affect electricity distribution and have never been applied in Indonesia.","PeriodicalId":31557,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Indonesian Applied Economics","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42133115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design/methodology/approach The essay is based on theoretical literature on the theories of international trade and working policies behind modern world trade globally. Findings The essay starts with traditional theories of international trade and an account of the mercantilist pattern of trade is provided, and comments are made on the use of simplified models in the classical theories. Significant focus is laid on the new trade theory and the use of strategic trade policies by advanced countries. A helpful supplement is provided regarding the role of FDI and technology in trade. A further effect of trade on growth is also analyzed. Theories of the 21st century are discussed with a call for models that can incorporate income inequality, political strategies, and other real-world factors. Research limitations/ implications The essay deals with only theoretical literature on international trade theories and policies. Findings and interpretation are subject to the theoretical development of international trade. The analysis was conducted using binary panel data with a random-effects model, with data observations of companies listed on the Main Board of the Indonesia Stock Exchange except for the financial and technology sectors in the 2012-2019 period. The analysis results show that ETI affects the transparency of all three types of profits for a subsample of companies with enormous assets on the Main Board. Analysis of the industrial sector shows the industrial sectors of raw goods and secondary consumer goods have a significant influence. Furthermore, the findings of industrial sectors and certain types of profits where ETI has no considerable effect on transparency suggest the ETI application should improve its features. It will prevent transaction manipulation and company's behavior for making income smoothing. On the other hand, it is necessary to carry out a strategy of extracting tax potential for a particular sector related to fictitious invoice cases and frequent affiliate transactions.","PeriodicalId":31557,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Indonesian Applied Economics","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44293443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hypothesis testing uses the panel of fixed-effect regression and moderation regression. The results of research or hypothesis testing indicate that cash, receivables and inventories have a positive effect on firm value. Working capital has a positive effect on firm value. The association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) aimed to increase regional integration among members through ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) that came into force in 1993 and broadened its regional integration started in 2005 through trade agreements with China, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and India. This paper study the impact of 5 ASEAN RTAs simultaneously to get comprehensive results. The Hausman-Taylor estimator was used to overcome endogeneity problems in the gravity equation without dropping the time-invariant variables which become the advantage of this method. The results show that AFTA increases trade flows between members and promotes imports and exports to the rest of the world. ASEAN regional integration outside the region with six trade partners show positive effect to members and has a minimal negative effect to non-members globally.","PeriodicalId":31557,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Indonesian Applied Economics","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41968554","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
