It has also been observed that such a technique is sensitive to various parametric values associated with the de-sticking of these beams. In the current paper we present experimental results which characterize the ideal cantilever beam. An analytical model of stiction failed MEMS cantilever beams under electrostatic actuation is presented. Physical parameters such as stiffness, bending rigidity, damping, excitation voltage, etc. are incorporated in terms of Mathieu parameters to study the stability of the system. An experimental characterization of natural frequency, Young’s Modulus, and damping ratio, which form important components of the analysis, is presented. Accompanying these results is a description of the experimental set up used for finding these parameters. Experiments were performed at both atmospheric and vacuum pressures. An interferometric microscope mounted above the glass window of the vacuum chamber was used to determine the crack length of each beam and observe the profiles of the arrays of microcantilevers in-situ. A Laser Doppler Vibrometer was used for determination of characterization parameters. The microcantilevers were fabricated using the SUMMiT IV process of Sandia National Laboratories. Structural vibrations were induced by placing an alternating voltage on a cofabricated actuation pad located under the microcantilevers near their anchor point. This assertion is consistent with broader trends in higher education that tout the benefits of this approach especially with regard to enhancing undergraduate instruction. This paper demonstrates how the Senior Capstone course (ELET 4308) in Computer Engineering Technology paralleled historical efforts to incorporate research-based learning in the undergraduate curriculum, thus anticipating University efforts in this area. Engineers design, create and test products and processes to enhance safety, improve health and welfare of the public in performance of their professional duties. We are making these changes to stay on the cutting edge of technologies and markets that are of crucial importance to our stakeholders – engineers, students and industries that support engineering applications. Challenges to ethically drive innovations to produce connectivity between people, systems and their performance in most circumstances have started affecting engineering education. This paper will map future ethical challenges affecting engineering education. The knowledge base, economy and globalization continue to challenge the basic industrial and hi-tech era assumptions upon which most public schools, curricula and evaluation mechanisms are based. After the start of digital divide period, new interactive digital media are diffusing in rapidly, even in low income groups, inculcating a youth-media culture that is gate crashing into schools and educators like a huge tsunami, producing inconsistent student performance across the U.S. making engineering education lag behind those of other countries. On an ethical level an American engineer is intimately involved in growing global US relations – and in reaching agreements between U.S. and other countries producing enormous outsourcing contracts. It is a good question, as to how do one feel that these challenges have to be answered in the right perspective to accomplish amicable results for the society in the time of economic downturn. Though training in ethics, in recent years has achieved widespread and enthusiastic acceptance throughout the engineering community, yet a lot needs to be done to teach ethical principals in every engineering subject. The project has been completed and tested to work properly. The aim of this project is to utilize a computer to control the living environment of chickens and transport the chicken eggs from the nest to the separator unit where the eggs would be separated based on their height using relay switches. The units controlled by the relay ports connected to the computer include the Light Unit, Food Supply Unit, Water Supply Unit, and Fan Unit. The software for this program is written in C language. The egg separation unit will be powered from a dc power supply and consists of three main parts which are Egg Conveyor unit, Egg Separator, and controlling unit. The Egg Conveyor transports the eggs from the nest to the conveyor. The Egg Separator unit is made of a ramp which inclines for the big size eggs and remains flat for the small size eggs. The Controlling unit will adjust the level of Egg Separator Unit based on the height of the egg. The automated chicken farm unit also has a Solar Unit that extracts and converts energy from the sun to electrical energy. This energy is used to power the chicken farm and also used to charge a battery for future use.
