Abalerón","doi":"10.5944/ETFVI.8-9.2016.16355","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5944/ETFVI.8-9.2016.16355","url":null,"abstract":"The purpose of the article is to show how innate differences such as sex, age and birthplace, are strongly associated with socio-spatial inequalities of Quality of Life (Q&L) in a group of neighborhoods of San Carlos de Bariloche, Northern Patagonia of Argentina, between the 1997 economic crisis and the recovery of the 2005. The main approach to the analysis is based on the Integrated Poverty Method (IPM) that measure both the short-term (income lines) and structural (Unsatisfied Basic Needs, UBN) poverty of the population according to those innate differences of the household’s head. The results of the analysis report general improvements in access to goods and services, due to higher incomes, and the decrease of unemployment rates. Nevertheless, this has been less evident in poorest neighborhoods than in those with absence of poverty and higher levels of employment income and level of education of the household’s head. The interpretation of what has been observed is based on our approach to Q&L studies which recognizes that knowledge or image of the world is the main capacity to generate freedom of decision that allow persons, groups and the society as a whole to function and to be in time and space. This freedom of decision is subject to universal values and principles that tell us what it is right, better and good. Ejemplificamos su labor como promotor de la investigacion geografica glosando tres tesis, que se encuadran dentro de los estudios referidos a la geografia urbana de Madrid, una de las lineas de investigacion prioritaria del maestro. En primer lugar, el analisis del barrio de Salamanca, fragmento clave del ensanche historico madrileno en su sector NE, obra de Rafael Mas. Despues, la evolucion historica del paisaje residencial de Madrid y sus ejemplos tipo hasta la decada de los setenta, realizada por Dolores Brandis. En tercer lugar, el estudio de la ensenanza en Madrid, una funcion urbana basica y un derecho de los ciudadanos estudiada por Ana Olivera. Estas obras son testimonio, entre otras, de la existencia de una escuela geografica surgida de Manuel de Teran. In Spain, Manuel Teranwas some of its key personalities in geographical researchers, their scientific contributions and his teaching experience have marked the evolution of this discipline; in addition, its presence in the academic and cultural world make it an indispensable tool for understanding the evolution of science in our country. We exemplify its work in promoting geographical research glossing three theses, which fall within the studies related to the urban geography of Madrid, one of the priority research lines of the teacher. First,the analysis of the Salamanca district of Madrid historical key fragment extension in its NE Ensanche, written by Rafael Mas. Then, the historical evolution of residential landscape of Madrid and typical examples until the early seventies by Dolores Brandis. Third, the study of education in Madrid, a basic urban function and a right of citizens studied by Ana Olivera. La globalizacion entendida como la transformacion del planeta en un solo espacio economico y financiero abre luces y sombras en el desarrollo local de cualquier nucleo poblacional independientemente de su tamano. Un caso sugerente sera objeto de nuestra investigacion: la ciudad de Yecla y su termino municipal, un espacio donde el sector dedicado a la fabricacion de muebles y tapizados ha sido durante decadas el motor de desarrollo economico y en esta segunda decada del siglo XXI se debate por la supervivencia en un mundo globalizado. The industry has made unprecedented changes in the structure and distribution of the population, has prompted the development of capitalism and its impact on the landscape has produced enormous changes in both urban and agricultural areas. We live in times of severe economic crisis, in fact our industry is being over whelmed by competition from emerging countries, most notably China and so-called “Asian dragons”. Globalization as the transformation of the world into a single economic and financial space opens light and shadow in the local development of any population center of any size. Asi en un marco geografico como el propuesto, cada una de sus unidades administrativas o censales ofrece un patron determinado, que se refleja en su estructura demografica, y conforma su espacio urbano de una forma diferente. El analisis diferenciado de este hecho es el objeto de este trabajo, en un ejercicio que pretende estudiar las multiples parcelas en las que se manifiesta el proceso de envejecimiento, desde el puramente demografico hasta su repercusion en las caracteristicas de los hogares o en los diferentes servicios y el equipamiento urbano. En definitiva nuestro estudio ofrece un analisis del envejecimiento demografico de la ciudad de Zaragoza, del grado de afeccion en sus diferentes distritos y de la relacion de este proceso con el espacio en donde se desarrolla. Un fenomeno generalizado en las sociedades industriales pero que reviste caracteristicas particulares en funcion del espacio de estudio. Abstract. The aging process is a verifiable fact in the urban space of Zaragoza, but the degree of disorder of the phenomenon is different in either of its districts that comprise it. So in a analysis as proposed, each of its administrative or census units provides a model that is reflected in its demographic structure, and forms its urban space in different ways. The separate analysis of this is the subject of this work, in an exercise that aims to study the multiple areas where aging process is manifested, from the purely demographic way to its impact on household characteristics or different services and urban facilities. Definitively our study provides an analysis of the aging process in the population of the city of Zaragoza, the degree of involvement in the different districts and the relation of this process with the space in which it develops.
