It can be done on physical structure of the network like physical proximity of peers or semantic relationship among them. Our proposed model uses social network concepts as the main physical structure for clustering peers. Nodes in the model are grouped into several communities and sub communities with similar interests. The order and relation among communities are defined and controlled by a shared ontology. This structure provides lower distance and better locality in search. A simulation of the model shows lower path and better clustering than a random network.","PeriodicalId":314159,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Information Technology","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124293390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To search such rich source of information one has to be very precise in using keywords in queries to retrieve the relevant documents. Most of the queries issued to search engines are short and have ambiguous context. One way to produce effective queries is by automatic query expansion. Work has been done in this field to use the local and global techniques. The global techniques examine word occurrences and relationships in the corpus as a whole and use this information to expand a particular query. Local context analysis examines the concept occurrences and relationship in top ranked documents retrieved by the original input query to expand the same query. Query log of search engines is used by researchers to expand the input queries using the clicked documents related to any of the terms of input query in query session of query log. In this paper a new local analysis technique is proposed which make use of information need of query sessions modeled using Information Scent and content of clicked documents to select the clicked documents for query expansion. Information scent is the subjective sense of value and cost of accessing a page based on perceptual cues with respect to the information need of the user. The input query issued in a particular domain is used to select the set of documents associated with the information need of the query sessions in the same domain and used as local corpora to provide related set of terms to be added to the input query. The resulting expanded query is used to retrieve the relevant documents from the same retrieval system. This approach is unique as it is using those documents in local corpora which belong to the information need associated with the domain in which input query is issued using Information Scent and content of clicked pages in the query sessions and direct the search in a fruitful direction by expanding initial input query using set of related terms. Experimental study of the proposed approach is done on the data set extracted from Web history of ldquoGooglerdquo search engine and improvement in the information retrieval precision with low computation complexity during online processing of input queries confirms the effectiveness of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":314159,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Information Technology","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127684541","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sometimes, by stitching the answers of some statistics, a malicious user (snooper) may be able to deduce confidential information about some individuals. New auditing scheme is proposed to protect online and dynamic SDBs from being disclosed. The core idea is to convert the original database D into key representation database D, namely sequence of particular values represent each corresponding record in the original database. Also this idea involves converting each new query q from string representation into key representation query q, and stores it in the Audit Query table. Specific rules will be applied to decide whether the new user query could or couldn’t lead to disclose the SDB. The proposed scheme that will be applied expected to guarantee the security of SDBs and provide precise and accurate responses, besides it need less CPU time and storage space during query processing.","PeriodicalId":314159,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Information Technology","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128186413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The digital video analysis and retrieval is not as simple as analysis and retrieval of information in normal data system. The visual information of video data lies in very complex nature with its high chromatic depth and density. The extraction of visual features from noisy and complex video data has a hierarchy of different sub systems from video file to chromatic attributes. This paper introduces a novel approach to reduce the video visual feature analyzing complexity and the higher level colour complexity of video data. It comes with simple vector quantization mechanism, high rate performance approach for classification of digital video visual features. Further this approach has tested with various video formats to generate probabilistic coding mechanism. The results of this approach show that it can be further enhanced with video graphical knowledge to guide the visual feature clustering with trained knowledge base.","PeriodicalId":314159,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Information Technology","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121441596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since existing tools mostly target for experienced software engineers, they tend to overlook the need of explaining ‘why’ the output is recommended or not with regard to software engineering principles. Hence we propose tutor-based software visualization (TubVis) approach in SoVis tool that analyses software artefacts pertaining to software engineering best practices inputted by the experts and generate a set of recommendations regarding the design and coding for a novices. We anticipate TubVis can improve the quality of software design and program comprehension by combining practical and theoretical aspects of software engineering education in a software visualization tool.","PeriodicalId":314159,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Information Technology","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130731142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
