However, their growth in complexity is not matched by the development of structured modeling and design methodologies. In particular, approaches exploiting both models typical of the manufacturing domain and models used by computer engineers are still missing. In this work, we outline a design flow contemplating the reuse of already existing manufacturing lines' models, while designing novel advanced production systems. To enable such a flow, we propose a methodology extracting System Modeling Language (SysML) structural diagrams from AutomationML descriptions. Then, we propose to design the system functionalities on top of the produced diagrams. The paper shows the application of the methodology to a concrete manufacturing line, the structure of which was originally modeled using AutomationML. To exemplify the advantages of the methodology, we exploit the models being generated to automatically extract a digital twin for the production system transportation line. The resulting digital twin is compliant with a well-known plant simulation tool.","PeriodicalId":312498,"journal":{"name":"2021 26th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA )","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126588798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dividing activities into actions helps to further conceptualize motion models for predicting what a human intends to do in a hybrid work system. However, it is not straightforward to identify human intentions in collaborative operations for robots to understand and collaborate. This paper presents a concept for semantic representation of human actions and intention prediction using a flexible task ontology interface in the semantic data hub stored in a domain knowledge base. This semantic data hub enables the construction of a DT with corresponding reasoning and simulation algorithms. Furthermore, a knowledge-based DT concept is used to analyze and verify the presented use-case of Human-Robot Collaboration in assembly operations. The preliminary evaluation showed a promising reduction of time for assembly tasks, which identifies the potential to i) improve efficiency reflected by reducing costs and errors and ultimately ii) assist human workers in improving decision making. Thus the contribution of the current work involves a marriage of machine learning, robotics, and ontology engineering into DT to improve human-robot interaction and productivity in a collaborative production environment.","PeriodicalId":312498,"journal":{"name":"2021 26th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA )","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131357433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, resource-constrained end systems may not have the capacity for designated TSN configuration engines, and thus may benefit from access to the necessary configuration through OPC UA. This paper showcases such an example: a DI-compatible OPC UA information model and back-end that enable QoS/TSN configuration over OPC UA. The presented development precedes the OPC foundation FX group (Ex-FLC, Ex-Shapers) releases and addresses not only PubSub-relevant network configuration, but also client-server, clock synchronization, and transmission scheduling.","PeriodicalId":312498,"journal":{"name":"2021 26th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA )","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120981323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this article, an online decoupling scheme of MIMO processes using an extremum-seeking approach is proposed. By applying the developed method, at first, the system's loop interactions are estimated in real-time using phasor extremum seeking, and then, a pre-compensator matrix is calculated and augmented to the process by minimizing the loop interactions. The presented online decoupling approach is a model-free method, and only the plant's inputs and outputs are analyzed to provide the decentralized control protocol. Numerical results provide the effectiveness of the developed method for a two-input, two-output (TITO) control system.","PeriodicalId":312498,"journal":{"name":"2021 26th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA )","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129642081","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Component-based systems, such as specified in the IEC 61499, already provide a compelling framework for the distribution and transformation of software components, yet most reconfiguration approaches rely on a manual implementation of the required reconfiguration setup. We propose an automatic mechanism to generate the needed reconfiguration operations and order them into reconfiguration sequences, while preserving the dependencies of each operation. We further identify four scenarios for dynamic reconfiguration with different requirements regarding the treatment of state and showcase the results of our methodology on each scenario.","PeriodicalId":312498,"journal":{"name":"2021 26th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA )","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130649752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These subsystems require a communication system able to support different flows with diverse real-time requirements. In this context, the Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) family of standards plays an important role. This work proposes the design and the implementation of a framework for enabling TSN communications in heterogeneous platforms with virtualization. Preliminary experimental results are reported, which provide some insights on the limitations and advantages of the proposed framework.","PeriodicalId":312498,"journal":{"name":"2021 26th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA )","volume":"197 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130720974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In such a system, the communication of energy data has an important function. With the help of so-called energy profiles (e.g. PROFIenergy), energy data can be communicated between the field level and the higher levels via proven communication protocols (e.g. PROFINET). Due to the fact that in most cases several industrial protocols are used in an automation system, the problem is how to transfer energy data from one protocol to another with as less effort as possible. An energy data information model could overcome this problem and describe energy data in a uniform and semantically unambiguous way. Requirements for a unified energy data information model are presented in this paper.","PeriodicalId":312498,"journal":{"name":"2021 26th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA )","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130743595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Usually such data contain relevant information, which can be used to monitor and analyze the processes, but also improve them, applying optimization techniques that allow to enhance different aspects, such as machine maintenance scheduling, product quality, use of resources and so on and so forth. The Digital Twin (DT) concept has been recently applied in the context of Industry 4.0, to exploit this data, leveraging advanced physical modelling, data analysis, Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms for optimization and prediction, which are two key concepts in the Industry 4.0 paradigm. Currently, the major challenge in this field is to make these techniques available for the industries and ensure their ease of use for the final users. This paper presents an holistic solution that combining two open-source software - i.e., REclaim oPtimization and simuLatIon Cooperation in digitAl twin (REPLICA) and Optimization Platform for Refurbishment and Re-manufacturing (OPR2) - provides a flexible, open and easy-to-use AI environment that allows data scientists to create, test, connect and deploy their algorithms and to optimize them. This work presents a first prototype of this solution, then describes how it has been tested and validated with real industry data and finally provides the results obtained with these tests.","PeriodicalId":312498,"journal":{"name":"2021 26th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA )","volume":"215 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134452466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Inspection is a key tool for mitigating fraud, however it has traditionally been constrained by physical characteristics of supply chains such as their size and geographical distribution. The increasingly cyber-physical nature of supply chains, their autonomy, and their data richness, extends their attack surfaces and thus increases opportunities for fraud. However, it also presents new opportunities for increased and dynamic inspection, which in turn requires more targeted and flexible inspection regimes. In this paper we explore opportunities to engineer adaptive inspection of cyber-physical supply chains to support efforts to reduce fraud. Through using structural representations of supply chains (topological models) we propose defining optimal inspection zones. Such zones circumscribe assets of interest to optimise observation while reducing the intrusiveness of inspection. Using a motivating example of adulterated pharmaceuticals and a proof-of-concept tool we illustrate adaptive inspection, and surface challenges to its realisation, such as value metrics, forensic readiness integration and managing contrasting local and global perspectives.","PeriodicalId":312498,"journal":{"name":"2021 26th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA )","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133357029","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It allows to test the robustness of an industrial network, to test and compare diagnostic tools, and to investigate off-line more complex faults encountered in industry. The core of the design is an FPGA, which allows for a very low latency time. It generates trigger signals and imposes faults on the RS485 level up to the maximum bit rate of 12 Mbps. The design choices for fault duration, number of successive faults and skipped triggers, waiting time, etc. allow for the emulation of a wide range of network faults.","PeriodicalId":312498,"journal":{"name":"2021 26th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA )","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132191304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
