The quality of information was compared the British Orthodontic Society (BOS) patient information leaflet ‘Orthodontic treatment- what are the risks’. \u0000Materials and Method: YouTube™ was searched systematically for videos on orthodontic treatment risks using the terms ‘orthodontic risks’ and ‘braces risks’. Videos were selected based on a strict inclusion and exclusion criteria and demographics recorded. Completeness was assessed using a 8-point score based on the BOS patient information leaflet ‘Orthodontic treatment- what are the risks’. Descriptive statistics and statistical analysis using correlation tests were generated. \u0000Result: 19.2% videos met the specified criteria with 80.8% videos excluded. Videos varied in regards to completeness with the mean completeness score of 3 and only 13% meeting all criteria. The risk of pain and discomfort was most commonly included orthodontic risk 61%. No statistical significance was found for completeness of the video with viewers interaction (R = 0.2665, P=0.219897) viewing rate (R=0.1138, P=0.617326) or length of video (R=0.0062, P= 0.977601). \u0000Conclusion: YouTube™ generally hosts videos with low completeness with regards to orthodontic treatment risks. The assessment and early prediction of the mandibular third molar impaction is of considerable clinical significance as it helps in early intervention so as to opt for its prophylactic removal. This reduces the risk of developing various pathologies like cysts, tumors, root resorption of adjacent teeth, pericoronitis etc, and also reduces risk of complications associated with extraction of fully developed tooth. The objective of this study is to compare different linear and angular measurements between the impacted and erupted mandibular third molar groups on digital panoramic radiograph and to assess the predictive validity of these panoramic measurements in mandibular third molar impaction. \u0000Materials and Method: 90 mandibular third molars were assessed using the linear and angular measurements made on digital panoramic radiograph. Mesiodistal width of mandibular third molar (MDW), lower eruption space- ramus (LES-R), lower eruption space- Rickett’s Xi (LES-Xi), alpha angle (α-angle), gamma angle (γ-angle) and gonial angle (Go-angle) were the measurements made. Space/width ratio 1 (R1) and space/width ratio 2 (R2) were also calculated. These parameters were compared between the impacted and erupted groups using Independent sample t-test and predictive validity with sensitivity and specificity of these parameters was assessed using ROC curve analysis. \u0000Result: LES-R, LES-Xi, R1, R2 and α-angle showed significant statistical difference between the impacted and erupted groups. R1 followed by R2, LES-R showed good predictive validity and LES-Xi showed fair predictive validity in mandibular third impaction. \u0000Conclusion: Decrease in lower eruption space, space/width ratio and increase in the mandibular third molar angulation favor impaction of the mandibular third molar. Among different panoramic linear and angular measurements, R1, R2 and LES-R can prove to be a relatively good predictor for mandibular third molar impaction.

Gonial angle can be measured in both orthopantomogram (OPG) and lateral cephalograms. Due to the superimpositions seen while measuring the bilateral strucuture on lateral cephalograms, reliable measurement of the gonial angle becomes difficult. This study is done to clarify the possible application of orthopantomogram (OPG) for evaluating angular measurement of the mandible specifically gonial angle by comparing with lateral cephalogram. \u0000Materials and Method: All the patients (104) being treated from January 2018 to August 2020 in department of Orthodontics in Nepal Medical College were included in the study. Gonial angle measurements were made on lateral cephalograms and orthopantomograms of 104 patients – 54 males and 50 females with mean age of 22.20 ± 3.25 years. Patients aged 15-35 years were included in the study. Data was processed in SPSS version 16.0. \u0000Result: Mean Gonial angle in lateral cephalogram was greater than mean gonial angle in OPG and this difference was found to be statistically significant (p-value < 0.05). The difference in mean gonial angle was found to be statistically significant when compared between right gonial angle in OPG and gonial angle in lateral cephalogram (p-value < 0.05) and also between left gonial angle in OPG and gonial angle in lateral cephalogram (p-value < 0.05). \u0000Conclusion: When gonial angle values obtained from both sides of OPG were compared, no statistically significant difference was found. Significant differences were found when gonial angle values obtained from OPG right and left sides were compared with that of lateral cephalogram.

Commonly used measurements used to classify sagittal relationship ANB and Wit’s appraisal are not without potential inherent problems which might lead to less accurate classification of sagittal dysplasia. To avoid these problems, a new approach Beta angle was introduced by Baik in 2004. Beta angle as it involves different landmarks of classifying anterior-posterior relationships is said to be devoid of those problems thus more reliable. We conducted a cross sectional study to measure the angle among patients presenting in Nishtar Institute of Dentistry Multan Pakistan. \u0000Materials and Method: Ninety pretreatment cephalometric x-rays of patients between ages 12 to 30 years were selected and studied. They were divided into three classes based on ANB angle and Wit’s appraisal. For the measurement of Beta angle, a line was drawn from the center of condyle (C) to point A and other to point B. A third line joining A to B was drawn. A line from point A perpendicular to line C-B was drawn and angle was measured between this perpendicular and line joining A-B. ANOVA was used to compare means of three groups. Pearson correlational coefficient was used to correlate relationship between Beta angle and ANB angle. \u0000Result: The results showed Beta angle ranged between 27° and 34° for class I. Subjects having angle less than 27° can be classified as skeletal class II and those with angles larger than 34° as skeletal class III subjects. \u0000Conclusion: Beta angle is reliable method for assessing and classifying sagittal skeletal discrepancies
