Therefore, this study was conducted to assess and compare the pharyngeal airway width of individuals with different growth patterns in skeletal class I malocclusion.\u0000Materials and Method: Analytical cross-sectional study was done to assess total of 60 cephalometric radiographs of individuals with skeletal class I malocclusion pattern selected through convenience sampling method. McNamara analysis was done to measure the width of upper and lower pharyngeal space. Statistical analysis was done in SPSS version 20. One way ANOVA and Post Hoc test were done to determine the mean difference of upper and lower pharyngeal airway space width in between individuals of skeletal class I malocclusion with different growth pattern.\u0000Result: There was no significant mean difference in upper pharyngeal airway space (p=0.201) seen in between three growth patterns of individuals with class I malocclusion. However, the study participants with vertical growth pattern showed significantly less lower pharyngeal space width (8.36±2.63mm) than in horizontal growth pattern (10.89±3.46 mm, p=0.028).\u0000Conclusion: The findings of this study conclude that in skeletal class I malocclusion, there is no difference in upper pharyngeal space dimensions among individuals with different growth patterns but the vertical growth pattern shows smaller dimension of lower pharyngeal space than horizontal growth pattern.

The effectiveness of a certain CL is related to its geometry and the nature of the wire material. To obtain the necessary performance CL must work in the elastic range and be geometrically configured to express an adequate force system, which is the result of compensatory gable bends and preactivation. It was performed a literature search in MEDLINE from 1974 to 2014 using search for “orthodontic AND retraction AND springs” and “orthodontic AND closing AND loops”. From the 147 papers resulted from Pubmed, 50 were chosen. Overall, many works seek not only improve the knowledge about the force system, but also a better understanding of their mechanical behavior. FEM, Holographic and Photoelastic studies, are tests commonly used before testing them experimentally. Wire material and the cross-section show a great influence in the choice of the geometric variables because the modulus of elasticity (E), modulus of resiliency (R) and the moment of inertia (I). Experimental tests should be preceded by numerical methods because the latter idealize a particular setting, and allows modifying variables.

Cameriere developed pulp tooth area ratio as age estimation method in Orthopantomogram. Objective of this study was to use Pulp tooth area ratio of mandibular premolars and derive population-specific equations for age estimation.\u0000Materials and Method: A retrospective study was conducted in Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Kantipur Dental College and Teaching Hospital from June 2021 to November 2021 after ethical clearance no 10/021. Total 392, Orthopantomograms of patients aged 17- 50 years with mandibular premolars were retrieved from Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology. The radiographic images were saved as JPEG file and images of premolars were processed using Image J software. Pulp and tooth area were measured and their ratio was calculated.\u0000Result: There were 178 males and 214 females with mean age of 22.39 years. Paired T tests showed good intra observer agreement between mandibular premolars. In our study pulp tooth area ratio ranged from 0.0109 to 0.2307 for 45, 0.0456 to 0.2030 for 44, 0.0413 to 0.2239 for 35 and 0.0639 to 0.2204 for 34. Linear regression analysis generated several formulae for all mandibular premolars which was statistically significant. Derived equations were used to test for accuracy in the 40 new samples which showed mean accuracy error between 5.65 to 6.40 years.\u0000Conclusion: Derived equations from Pulp tooth area ratio of mandibular premolars can be used for age estimation in young adults from Nepalese population sample.

Nanoparticle coated brackets, arch wires and ligatures have assured promising results in revolutionising the orthodontic treatment mechanics. Temporary anchorage devices are one of the recent inventions which has revolutionised the orthodontic field. They are known to provide efficient means of anchorage and also support different types of tooth movements making them less complicated, although they may be associated with infections in the site of insertion and loss of stability.
