The cognitive culture about the natural environment through geographical names in Can Tho City is partly reflected in the geographical names that related to accumulated experiences of local people about the river environment, terrestrial flora and fauna system, and residence selection. Based on the application of the theory of cultural linguistics, the theory of cultural regions, especially the natural characteristics of Can Tho, the article focuses on understanding the manifestations of cognitive cultural elements about the natural environment through geographical names, thereby contributing to affirming the indigenous knowledge of the people of this region.","PeriodicalId":310459,"journal":{"name":"THE SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL OF TRA VINH UNIVERSITY; ISSN: 2815-6072; E-ISSN: 2815-6099","volume":"03 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127203112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was carried out from March to July 2021 through interviews with 45 riceshrimp farming households, including 25 households belonging to the CEPOs and 20 individual households in the Soc Trang Province aiming to evaluate the financial performance of the model. The research results show that the farming scale of the CEPOs’ households is larger; the stocking density is lower; but the yield is higher than that of the counterparts (591.5 kg shrimp and 6.36 ton of rice/ha/crop, compared to 385.1 kg of shrimpand 4,23 ton of rice/ha/crop, respecitively). There are no statistically significant differences in the cost indicators, but the indicators of financial performance of the CEPOs’ households are statistically significantly higher than that of individual households (profit reaching 45.9 mill.VND for shrimp and 54.1 mill.VND/ha/crop for rice, double that of individual households). Shrimp CEPOs play an important role in gathering production through input sumply contracts, technical support, preferential policies on capital and contributing to job creation and income enhancement for shrimp farming household.","PeriodicalId":310459,"journal":{"name":"THE SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL OF TRA VINH UNIVERSITY; ISSN: 2815-6072; E-ISSN: 2815-6099","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116968196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Studies supporting this view have been broadly achieved through the use of various teaching approaches and strategies. However, most of these focus on the development of language skills rather than students’ topical knowledge, interpreting skill sets or interpreting outcomes. This paper aims at introducing the effectiveness of implementing a competencybased approach into English language classrooms. This approach was implemented into two interpretation groups, who are pursuing English as their major. There are notable outcomes found after employing competency-based approach in interpreting classes. Firstly, students were able to perform the task more fluently and confidently. Secondly, students used more appropriate language to interpret in concrete scenarios; and lastly, students showed strong preferences for advanced preparation and practice materials built upon their knowledge and competence. In order to apply competency-based approach more effectively and widely in interpretation courses, suggestions are made for lecturers and school leaders on the continuous update with respect to syllabuses design, course materials, and teaching assessment. It is hoped that this paper will give some insights on the use of competency-based approach in interpretation classes to equip students with skills and knowledge to successfully perform interpreting works.
