The project served as multipurpose controller to the machine for crop processing. It focused on three parameters: moisture, temperature, and processing time. The operators can also use this controller to measure the initial moisture and temperature of the crop processing machine. The operator can set the parameters on their own preferences for the machine. An example would be for the crop dryer wherein the operator can set both the final temperature and processing time as the base parameters to turn off the machine or in other option which the final moisture content or humidity can be set to turn-off the machine. This design can be used in three machines simultaneously, and since the operators input the value of the parameters, it can also be used in appliances.","PeriodicalId":309548,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"241 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125373556","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to do this, an HTML5 game that simulated a car drive with numerous distractions, which include both audio and visual distractions, was created. The player of the game needs to wear an EEG device, Neurosky, for his or her Beta waves to be detected and collected. The collected Beta waves are then passed to the HTML5 game for processing. This process correlated prolonged distractions with their respective hierarchical position for the player. Once the player receives his/her respective hierarchy of prolonged distractions, he/she will be able to improve and even learn to avoid certain distractions.","PeriodicalId":309548,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114408246","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, an accurate motion intention detection system plays an important role. This study focuses on the use of Electromyography signals (EMG) in detecting motion intention. Since this type of signals can be affected by factors including movement velocity and movement acceleration, it is therefore the objective of this research to determine how various levels of movement velocities, and acceleration would affect EMG signal amplitudes. Eight healthy subjects performed bicep curl movements at three different velocities with at least thirty movement repetitions each. The results were summarized, processed, and statistically analysed in order to show the relationship between the above stated factors and the dependent variable EMG.","PeriodicalId":309548,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121315353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Presently, most data centers use smart Power Distribution Unit (PDU) to supply energy to their servers and at the same time to monitor the servers' energy consumption. However, these PDUs are costly since these are not manufactured in the Philippines and have to be procured overseas. Hence, this project developed a low-cost smart PDU built from cheap and locally available parts. The PDU was created using gizDuinoX development board, ENC28J60 Ethernet shield, CS5464 power and temperature measuring IC, and voltage and current sensors. Moreover, the PDU was integrated into a web-based application for monitoring energy consumption. A wired Ethernet was used for the network communication between the PDU hardware and the server computer. The smart PDU developed in this project has an accuracy error of approximately +/-1.5% in its power and energy measurements, which is within the benchmark set by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).","PeriodicalId":309548,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126892940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The knowledge of fuel chemistry aids in the development of combustion modelling. In order to numerically simulate the diesel combustion, it is necessary to construct a compact reaction model for describing the chemical reaction. This study developed a skeletal kinetic model of methyl decanoate (MD) and n-heptane as a biodiesel surrogate blend for the chemical combustion reactions. The skeletal kinetic model is simply composed of 45 chemical species and 74 reactions based on the full kinetic models which have been developed by Lawrance Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) [1] and Knowledge-basing Utilities for Complex Reaction Systems (KUCRS) which is built by Miyoshi [2] under the diesel like engine conditions. The model in this study is generated by using CHEMKIN and then it is used to produce the ignition delay data and the related chemical species. The model predicted good reasonable agreement for the ignition delays and most of the reaction products at various conditions. The chemical species are well reproduced by this skeletal kinetic model while the good temperature dependency is found under constant pressure conditions 2MPa and 4MPa. The ignition delay time of present model is slightly shorter than the full kinetic model near negative temperature coefficient (NTC) regime. This skeletal model can provide the chemical kinetics to apply in the simulation codes for diesel-engine combustion.","PeriodicalId":309548,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127411302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study seeks to understand how coordination performance of response organizations in a disaster environment is assessed through a sound theoretical framework. Dynamic Capabilities Theory is widely used as a theoretical perspective to explain sustained organizational performance in dynamic environments. In this work, the theory is applied and tested to a simulated Chemical Disaster Spill of a Barcelona-based Disaster Response Organization. The case surfaced the limited applicability of the theory. Thus, insights on potential constructs that may be needed to extend the Dynamic Capabilities Theory are brought forth. Borrowing from other fields, the authors found preliminary empirical evidence to use a theoretical perspective based on improvisational and networked/collaborative capabilities. These results may benefit ROs by providing a better understanding of how they can sustain coordination performance in turbulent and networked environments.","PeriodicalId":309548,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127220590","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
