This is because it (the government) has the resources needed to deploy and ensure that the country is safe. To achieve internal safety, the federal government of Nigeria has continued to increase expenditure on internal security with a view of securing all those living in the country for investment and innovation. Thus, this paper investigated the relationship between government recurrent expenditure on internal security and economic growth in Nigeria from 1980 to 2022. The data for the study were sourced from Central Bank of Nigeria statistical bulletin. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model was employed as the main analytical tool. The results of the analyses revealed the presence of a long-run association among the variables. The results also showed that in the long run, government recurrent expenditure on internal security has a positive and insignificant relationship with economic growth in Nigeria. At the same time, exchange rate has a positive and significant relationship with economic growth in Nigeria. Also, interest rate has a negative and significant relationship with economic growth in Nigeria. In the short run, government recurrent expenditure on internal security has a negative and significant relationship with economic growth in Nigeria. The exchange rate and interest rate have a positive and significant relationship with economic growth in Nigeria. The study concluded that the relationship between government recurrent expenditure on internal security and economic growth in Nigeria varies, as it could be positive (in the long run) or negative (in the short run). Therefore, the study recommended that recurrent expenditure on internal security which includes pay to officers, salaries to specialists within internal security forces or connected to internal security organizations, pensions of internal security personnel; and social services for personnel and their families; maintenance and operations; internal security research and development, medical services, etc. should be increased because in the long run it will provide a spin-off effect on the national economy and increase economic growth.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":309514,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Social Sciences Studies","volume":"50 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140492392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The theoretical framework of the research was the theory of communicative action of Habermas. The research was conducted in the framework of the qualitative research method with semi-structured interviews as a methodological tool for data collection. The sample of the research was fifteen (15) Greek primary school teachers and the questionnaire consisted of thirteen (13) questions. The findings of the research show that teachers: praised the role of dialogue, recognizing its value in the effort to peaceful coexistence between different cultures; appeared to attach great importance to the role of dialogue in the classroom, recognizing its importance and value; stressed the value of getting to know new cultures, which can enrich the “native culture” with new elements; stated that social change can come about through dialogue.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":309514,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Social Sciences Studies","volume":"67 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140495932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study adopted a descriptive research design using a mixed methods research design; a combination of both quantitative and qualitative forms of research. The target population for this study was the educational practitioners in the district including students, teachers, head teachers, and sector education officers in the district. Thus, the total population was 1600 participants. A sample random technique was used to sample 320 respondents taken as a sample size. Analysis of data was aided by Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 21 and output was exported to Microsoft Word in the form of tables for the purpose of reporting. From the findings, the study revealed that the overall mean of students’ engagement was found to be 3.63 (SD = .24). Respondents were found to be more engaged in social engagement (x̄= 3.98, SD = .63), followed by emotional engagement (x̄= 3.96, SD = .52), behavioural engagement (x̄= 3.46, SD = .44) and cognitive engagement (x̄= 2.80, SD = .28). Results showed a significant positive relationship between classroom engagement with academic performance of students in Mathematics (r = 0.668; p < 0.001). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that classroom engagement contributed to 67.9% of the variation in students’ performance, hence playing a vital role in students’ academic performance in Mathematics subject.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":309514,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Social Sciences Studies","volume":"4 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138589888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Taking a few muscles and bones from social research these studies are growing in the fields. Monitoring and evaluation studies take key methods and tools from social research, particularly operational research. Therefore, these are deemed identical to social research but monitoring and evaluation are not social research. These are deserted children of social research who are growing independently in the fields based on needs. This discussion paper doesn’t explore the history of evaluation but explains the conceptual trajectory of evaluation starting from its mandate to the practice. Development or humanitarian sector is not running based on the theory of demand and supply. The development sector is based on the logic of need and fulfillment. Therefore, evaluation in the development sector is also grounded in need. While explaining the conceptual roots and practices of evaluation in the development sector. Commonly used OECD/DAC evaluation criteria are taken for discussion. Hence the evaluation is an abductive approach of study that focuses on project logic and helps in solving project problems or measuring project results. Therefore, an abductive approach to examination is used in this paper. Coming with the deductive approach, the review starts with theory and ends at practice, and following the inductive approach review starts with practice to help generalizing concepts. Both approaches have limitations when applied to examine evaluation practices and mandate. Because the practices and mandate are already existing in the vacuum of evaluation. Therefore, this specific analysis is an attempt to cognize the linkages between existing evaluation theory and practice. Vivid cognition in building trajectory between evaluation ideology and practice. Leads to recognize the scope of evaluation that ultimately contributes to sophisticated evaluation practices. The journey of this analysis embarks with fundamental questions, why the OECD/DAC criteria are being used for evaluations in the development sector, and considered useful? What are the logical links among evaluation mandate, evaluation approach, evaluation frame “OECD/DAC criteria”, and evaluation methods?  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":309514,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Social Sciences Studies","volume":"69 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139238877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The agricultural land available per capita is decreasing on a global scale, and a slower population growth might give the time to take measures aimed at meeting the needs of the people, while protecting the environment. Family planning is a basic human right, but nowadays it is seriously underfunded by donors and developing countries. Several documents deal with the unmet needs of 257 million women who want to avoid pregnancy, but cannot use safe and modern contraception methods. Every year 121 million pregnancies are unintended. Some documents quoted deal with the influence of religious and socio-cultural factors on family planning, and child marriage. These are associated with health risks for both children and adolescent mothers. Several documents presented in this article deal with contraceptive methods. Some documents describe the strategies adopted in several countries to improve the availability and affordability of contraceptives for low-income people. Family planning and a slower population growth may provide countries with a window of opportunity for a faster economic growth, thanks to savings in education, maternal and child health care, and other services. An intrinsic case study design was adopted. Thirty KG1&2 teachers were purposively selected and willingly took part in this study. Semi-structured interviews and non-participant observations were used to collect data. The data were manually coded, summarised, and analysed using a deductive thematic approach to qualitative data analysis. The study identified three groups of teachers with three different ideologies and practices. They all admitted that play was an avenue for children to have fun, learn, and develop holistically. However, they approached play-integrated teaching and learning differently. While some discouraged the practice, others encouraged it partially and some other teachers embraced it fully. These disparities in teachers' views and practices of play-integrated teaching and learning revealed some infrastructural and curricular deficits in Ghanaian KG education. The study recommended that the Ghana Education Service (GES) should address the infrastructural deficit identified in most KGs in the Saveligu District and invest more in play-integrated teaching and learning. Also, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) should revise the current KG curriculum to include explicit instructions on the use of play-integrated pedagogies in KG.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":309514,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Social Sciences Studies","volume":"178 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139246030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research was conducted with the purpose of analyzing the impact of Staff development on Curriculum implementation in secondary schools of Nyamasheke District. The study had three specific objectives. Firstly, it was designed to analyze the status of training related to Staff development in schools of Nyamaheke District. The second objective was to find out the challenges faced by schools of Nyamasheke District in curriculum implementation. Finally, the third objective was to analyze the relationship between staff development and curriculum implementation. The study established the relationship between independent variables (training; mentoring; coaching) and dependent variables (teaching methods and content coverage). The target population was made up of head teachers, teachers, and students from secondary schools of Nyamasheke District. The number of those schools targeted by this study was 10 secondary schools. The population was 5’425 people composed of 10 head teachers, 181 teachers, and 5.234 students. The respondents purposively sampled were 250 people composed of 10 head teachers, 160 teachers, and 80 students. Four boys and four girls were selected from every school for the purpose of gender balancing in the study. Data were collected using questionnaires and observation checklists and analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative techniques; data were analyzed using the statistical package for social sciences presented in tables. The study found that Staff development and Curriculum implementation have been more and more effective since 2016 according to Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC): 90% of teachers have been trained on the new curriculum since 2015; 80% of head teachers are bachelor holders in education and 20% of them are post-graduate diploma holders in education. The main challenge is that new documents applied to the new curriculum remain very few. Indeed, 30% of schools do not have well-equipped school laboratories with modern materials and SPSS has been used to analyze different data. The study concluded that there is hope that Curriculum implementation will succeed in the future. The research recommended that the Ministry of Education should help schools to equip all science and computer laboratories. The District Education Officer (DEO) and the school management were also advised to plan much training about new Curriculum implementation. The successful Curriculum implementation will benefit all stakeholders in education and the results of national examinations will be interesting in the future.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":309514,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Social Sciences Studies","volume":"82 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139291984","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
