And the consequences of free riding manifested by tax evasion impedes social progress. In this study, we examined the Fiscal Policy Option for Abatement of Free Rider Society: The Role of Institutional Quality with special focus on Nigerian economy. We deployed Quantile Regression Technique to assess the median impact of free-riding using government expenditure on economic and social services; comprised of: defense, health, road and construction, and education. Our finding shows that expenditure on defense reduces free riding when strategically managed but encourages free riding in the long run. Same result is shown with the government expenditure on health. Whereas, expenditure on education as well as road and construction discourages free riding. Also, the moderating role of institutional quality specifically, control of corruption decreases free riding and improve tax revenue generation. Growth of free riders in any society which comes in the form of tax evasion is effectively controlled by expenditure techniques of government guided by quality of institutions. The study recommended that: A special purpose vehicle from Federal Inland Revenue Service should be created as a ‘fiscal control unit’, to monitor electronic cash registers to be connected in hospitals, public schools and social services related departments in order to curb tax leakages due to free riders. Also, government should strengthen the campaign in favour of control of corruption as well as building strong institutions; rather than building strong private individuals who posed as sacred cow in punishment for tax evasion.","PeriodicalId":309331,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Economics & Management Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123617395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Time series data covering the period from 1981 – 2021 was used. Data sourced from the World Development Indicators (WDI) provided by the World Bank 2021 and Central Bank of Nigeria Statistical Bulletin 2021 was use. The variables employed are Income per capita (IPC), Institutional (IQ) Quality, Research and Development (RD) and Capacity of SMEs (COS). Results showed that there is a positive relationship IPC and COS. IQ and RD are statistically insignificant, and IQ indicated a negative relationship. It was also observed that there is a positive relationship between the intercept and COS. This implies that the problem in Nigeria is not policy formulation but that of implementation. Thus, creating a gap or missing-link in the structure of public policy formulation and implementation in Nigeria. We recommend among others that all hands must be on deck at every level of government and amongst all social groups to achieve the goals of policy as it affects all. In addition, the government should create enabling environment for the local entrepreneurs to compete globally and create a level playing ground for entrepreneurship at the domestic level to thrive healthily. The firm owns a perpetual right to an irreversible investment project, and the firm’s goal is to determine the optimal investment timing and level of coupon payments when the investment cost jumps upward at a random time. We find that the optimal investment threshold and level of coupon payments decrease with the jump intensity and the magnitude of the jump. The cost uncertainty gives the firm a stronger incentive to accept projects with risky cash flows. Furthermore, we examine the conflict of interests between the share- and bond-holders. We show that the debt overhang distortion and the asset substitution incentive decrease with the cost uncertainty. However, the effect of cost uncertainty on the incentive of asset substitution reverses in the region of low operating profits","PeriodicalId":309331,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Economics & Management Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133623843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study a model of multi-story reinforced concrete building along with applied loads is analyzed in powerful non-linear static procedure using computer software ETABS. A limited number of horizontal forces are then applied to imitate the impact of ground movement. The building is supposed as a 6-story building, no shear walls used in the model as the level of earthquake hazard assumed very low. Moreover, deformations are determined. The forces would then be increased gradually, NSPs convert multi-degree of freedom models to single-degree of freedom models utilizing a pushover analysis to determine capacity curve or pushover curve which is horizontal roof displacement vs base shear, This curve plot reveals the highest base motion that the structure can withstand, and then estimate the maximum global displacement by combining a ground response spectrum with the capacity curve.","PeriodicalId":309331,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Economics & Management Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122598707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Circular economy in its mainstream is functionally a macroeconomic concept disjointly constructed and explained away from any possible interrelations with microeconomics. Thereby, all the extra-domain of social and scientific phenomena are dissolved from mainstream socio-scientific reasoning. Yet reality is far from such a digitalized narrowed perception when viewed from the objectivity of the wellbeing criterion and its common sustainability prospect. In reference to such an opposing epistemic criticism the mainstream meaning of the General Flow of Goods and Services in the context of Circular Political Economy (CPE) is of exogenously separable connectivity of flows of inputs, resources, production, consumption, distribution, and re-circulation across financial and real economic sectors. Contrarily, from the participatory and unified organic linkages between micro-social entities aggregating to integrated society-wide unit of analysis, there is the new epistemic conception and methodology of a new GFGS-CPE understanding. Virtually in every socio-political debate, the exchange rate management is yet to be a resolved paradigm. This study empirically examined the supply side liberalization as proxy of personal diaspora remittance and exchange rate management in Nigeria. Technique of Vector Autoregression (VAR) was employed to examine the direction of shocks arising from the exchange movement with respect to diaspora remittances (REMIT), and foreign direct investment (FDI). The findings showed that, growth of remittance results in exchange rate appreciation when pass through official channel, and vice versa. While, controlling for FDI, exchange rate movement improves with growth of FDI in the short run, and decreases due to improper capital control mechanism. Policy recommendation has it that: The Nigerian Monetary Authority should harmonize the dual exchange rate aimed at maximizing the gains of capital control and achieve domestic monetary policy success; Government should implement friendly tax policies, zero charges and lowered administrative bottlenecks to clearing personal diaspora remittance inflow aimed at minimizing diversion of foreign capital into unofficial route.","PeriodicalId":309331,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Economics & Management Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129717946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
