The SNR of feedback link in control system is evaluated with respect to amplitude and minimized over all causal control laws. The minimum SNR is represented by the absolute value of the product of unstable poles of the plant. This index is known to describe performance limitations in various control problems. The optimal control law minimizing the SNR is simply constructed as a combination of scaling factor and the state feedback gain for minimum energy control. This control law overcomes the drawback of computational complexity of the encoding scheme minimizing bit-rate, which is employed to minimize an amplitude-base SNR in our preceding work. This simplification is accomplished by relaxing the requirement of stability to the convergence of the state to near the origin and introducing a new criterion for evaluating SNR.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126281917","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in practice, reliable models seldom exist: instead, typical “levels” of limited reliability occur. For instance, Computed Torque Control (CTC) in robotics assumes almost perfect models. The Adaptive Inverse Dynamics Controller (AIDC) and the Slotine Li Adaptive Robot Controller (SLARC) assume absolutely correct analytical model form, and only allows imprecise knowledge regarding the actual values of the model parameters. Neglecting the effects of dynamically coupled subsystems, and allowing the action of unknown external disturbances means a higher level of corrupted model reliability. Friction-related problems are typical examples of this case. In the traditional control literature, such problems are tackled by either drastic “robust” or rather intricate “adaptive” solutions, both designed by the use of Lyapunov's 2nd method that is a complicated technique requiring advanced mathematical skills from the designer. As an alternative design methodology, the use of Robust Fixed Point Transformations (RFPT) was suggested, which concentrates on guaranteeing the prescribed details of tracking error relaxation via generation of iterative control signal sequences that converge on the basis of Banach's Fixed Point Theorem. This approach is essentially based on the fresh data collected by observing the behavior of the controlled systems, rather than in the case of the traditional ones. For the first time, this technique is applied for order reduction in the adaptive control of a strongly nonlinear plant with significant model imprecisions: the control of a DC motor driven arm in dynamic interaction with a nonlinear environment is demonstrated via numerical simulations","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124787200","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The gain scheduling functions are considered as depending on the unmeasurable state vector. Designing an effective observer state for this type of systems is more complicated because implies the estimation of the scheduling functions. To reduce the design complexity the original system is transformed into a perturbed system depending on the estimated scheduling functions. The convergence of the estimation error is guaranteed by considering L2 gain and Lyapunov approach which relies in sufficient conditions given in linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) formulation. Moreover, in fault detection (FD) and fault tolerant control (FTC) framework, the robust discrete LPV observer demonstrates its capacity to detect sensor and actuator faults. Simulation results illustrate effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129499605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typically such systems are featured by the gradient-like behavior, i.e. the system has infinite sequence of equilibria points, and any solution converges to one of them (which may be interpreted as the phase locking). This property however says nothing about the transient behavior of the system, whose important qualitative index is the maximal phase error. Before the phase is locked, the error may increase up to several periods, which phenomenon is known as cycle slipping and was introduced by J. Stoker for the model of mathematical pendulum. Since the cycle slipping is considered to be undesired behavior of PLLs, it is important to find efficient estimates for the number of slipped cycles. In the present paper, we address the problem of cycle-slipping for phase synchronization systems with infinite-dimensional linear part. New effective estimates for a number of slipped cycles are obtained by means of Popov's method of “a priori integral indices”, which was originally developed for proving absolute stability of nonlinear systems.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131793257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The antecedent part of a fuzzy rule-based system is defined by clouds and density distribution as proposed by Angelov and Yager [1], [2]. But in the current paper Mahalanobis distance is used rather than the Euclidean one when calculating the density. The idea behind is that the shape of the clouds should be reflected in the density calculation. Covariance matrix of the elements in the clouds is needed for this purpose and it is obtained by a recursive algorithm. An important part of the paper is devoted to supervisory mechanisms that enable higher robustness of the identification. The use of buffers of data are promoted that enable balanced use of batch and recursive identification. This part is still work in progress. The proposed algorithms are illustrated on a simulated pH-neutralisation process.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128906699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The robot is able to understand people's individual and specific knowledge as well as capabilities, which are ultimately linked to an emotional consequence. As a result, the emotional model outputs the emotional valence calculated as positive or negative values, respective to reward and punishment. This output is applied as value function for a reinforcement learning agent. There we use an actor critic algorithm extended by eligibility traces and task specific conditions to learn the optimal action sequences. We show the influence of emotional reward leads to differences in the learned action sequences in comparison to a simple task performance evaluation reward. Therefore the robot is able to calculate emotional feelings of a human during a given working task, is able to decide if there is a better, more emotional stable path to doing this working task and moreover the robot is able to decide when the human is needed help or even not.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114780160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
