The algorithm applies the alternating direction method of multipliers to a reformulation of the OCP that decomposes into small independent subproblems. We test the decomposition algorithm using a simple power management case study, in which the OCP is formulated as a convex quadratic program. Simulations show that the decomposition algorithm scales linearly in the number of uncertainty scenarios. Moreover, a parallel implementation of the algorithm is several orders of magnitude faster than state-of-the-art convex quadratic programming algorithms, provided that the number of uncertainty scenarios is large.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"51 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122874102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The network system is assumed to have variable topology, and agents are not necessarily always connected to each other. In addition, the observations about neighbors' states are supposed to be obtained with random noise and delays. To ensure efficient operation of this network system, a novel control strategy is proposed. With this strategy, network resources are allocated in a randomized way with probabilities corresponding to each priority class. To maintain the balanced load across the network for different priorities, a so-called “differentiated consensuses” problem is examined. This consensus problem is that, in a system with multiple classes, consensus is targeted for each class, which may be different among classes. In this paper, the ability of the proposed control protocol to maintain almost balanced load, i.e. approximate consensus for every priority class across the network, is proved. In addition, a numerical example that illustrates the proposed control strategy and the results of simulations are provided.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"2012 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127389877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although classical game theory provides a powerful framework within which to study networks, it solution concepts are based on, and only on, individual rationality, and do not admit notions of group-level rational behavior. Conditional game theory overcomes this limitation. In contrast to conventional categorical utilities, which encode agents' preferences as functions of the possible actions of themselves and others, conditional utilities permit agents to condition their preferences on the preferences of other agents as well as their actions. As these conditional utilities propagate through the network, they create a social model which leads to an emergent notion of system level rationality. This expanded formulation of game theory also permits the assessment of the innate ability of a network system to coordinate its behavior. Shannon information theory is adapted to define an explicit measure of the intrinsic capacity for a system to coordinate. This measure may be used to assess the ecological fitness of the agents to function in their environment.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126064540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By making use of general algebraic connectivities of strongly connected graphs and subgraphs, sufficient synchronization conditions are obtained for diffusively interconnected identical Lur'e systems on both the strongly connected interconnection topology and the topology containing a directed spanning tree. The static feedback gain matrices are determined by the matrices defining the individual agent dynamics and the general algebraic connectivities. The synchronization criteria obtained in the present paper extend those for undirected Lur'e networks in our previous work.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131200802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It consists in a master search process involving swarm intelligence (SI) based learning metaphor which trains the underlying system working space (SWS) oblique partitioning parameters, and a nested local optimization algorithm that estimates the LLM parameters in consequence. Finally two sequential outer incremental loops are used to select the LLM order and the optimal LLM network size respectively. The main advantages of this LLM identification approach are twofold: it is intended for simulation and prediction and is robust with respect to the LMM and the membership function (MSF) types. The effectiveness of the developed identification algorithm is confirmed by simulation.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131603232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The cycling exercise is introduced for rehabilitation of lower limbs by stimulating the quadriceps muscle of each leg by FES with the aid of a flywheel and electrical clutch assist mechanism. FLC is used to regulate the stimulation intensity on the muscles. Also, FLC is used to control the engagement of the flywheel, with the crank of the bicycle, to provide the required assistance. Genetic algorithm is used to optimize the FES-cycling with the objective function of minimizing the mean square error in cadence. In view of good results, it is concluded that the GA is effective in optimizing the performance of FES-cycling. Also, with the assistance of a flywheel and electrical clutch mechanism, it is possible to obtain cycling cadence close to the desired by stimulating single muscle only.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"331 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133117395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A fault-tolerant control scheme is proposed with considering the input saturation and certain actuator faults. From initial period, a passive fault-tolerant control is applied to achieve the tracking objective. When a fault happens, if some performances degrade below an acceptable level, an active fault diagnosis algorithm is implemented to precisely localize the faulty wheel and to estimate its fault gain. During this period, the reference input adjustment technique and the designed passive fault-tolerant controller will guarantee the active fault diagnosis implementation. With the faults information, an accommodated controller is designed to recover the degraded performance caused by the faults. Finally, simulations of traction engine faults in a RobuCar™ vehicle are conducted to illustrate the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"198 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114107246","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On-line adaptive fuzzy identification is used to identify the system parameters. These parameters are used to calculate the objective function based on predictive approach and structure of RST control. The optimization problem is solved based on an ACO algorithm, used at the optimization process in AFMPC to calculate a sequence of future RST control actions. The obtained simulation results show that proposed approach provides better results compared with Proportional Integral-Ant Colony Optimization (PI-ACO) controller and adaptive fuzzy model predictive control (AFMPC).","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"282 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114444119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under the additional assumption that all agents are weakly minimum phase, it is well known that the agents are then feedback equivalent to a passive system. This feedback equivalence has been exploited by [1] to deal with output synchronization on strongly connected graphs, and in the presence of time delays. We exploit this feedback equivalence in this paper to develop adaptive control laws in order to generalize the aforementioned results to achieve output synchronization even in the presence of uncertain agent dynamics. Furthermore, we show that the main results also hold true for the practical case when there are constant time delays in the communication. The results are finally illustrated by a numerical example.","PeriodicalId":309111,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)","volume":"166 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121429094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed normalized gradient law, which can be implemented distributively by using local measurements, allows agents to achieve their desired formation shape specified by inter-agent distance constraints in finite time, with local but not global con-vergence.
