Drawing on Kitschelt and Wilkinson’s (2007) conceptualization of programmatic politics as an alternative electoral strategy, we investigated how a programmatic linkage between a local political leader and its electoral constituency is facilitated through the non-contingent and regular distribution of school-related materials for public school children. This local programmatic policy has gained popularity among various local government units (LGUs) in the Philippines. We focused on the Makati City government’s Project FREE (Free Relevant and Excellent Education) due to its reputation for arguably being the most innovative and comprehensive educational assistance program ever implemented at the country’s local scale. We employed a purposive sampling technique to obtain our participants – the project’s parent beneficiaries. Through in-depth interviews, we investigated the attitudes and perceptions of Project FREE’s parent beneficiaries towards the mayor’s programmatic commitment to them. By using thematic analysis, five themes emerged from the interview data: (1) financial relief, (2) educational security, (3) unique source of local citizen satisfaction, (4) personally dispensed patronage of a benefactor politician, and (5) invaluable benefits and project continuity: influencing vote preference. Beyond the particularistic and contingency-based patronage exchange prevalent in the Philippine local political setting, this study’s findings also offer in-depth explanations for what motivates voters to reciprocate their local political leader with electoral support for its education-based programmatic inducements. ","PeriodicalId":30822,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Pemerintahan","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84143579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Issu ini menjadi sangat menarik karena aktualisasinya sarat dengan tuntutan dan tantangan yang tidak mudah direalisasikan, terutama bagi para pejabat atau  birokrat yang terlanjur hidup dengan gaya penguasa dalam budaya organisasi yang sarat dengan praktek-praktek korupsi, kolusi dan nepotisme. \u0000Dalam jurnal ini menelusuri penvelenggaraan sistem pemerintahan denganmembuka tabir penyimpangan-penyimpangan yang terjadi pada penyelenggaraan kekuasaan Negara. \u0000Fenomena perilaku kekuasaan yang demikian itu merupakan cermin terjadinya good govemance vs budaya organisasi pemerintahan yang koruptif serta good govemance vs gaya kepemimpinan birokrasi yang arogan. Artinya, issu yang teramat factual untuk didiskusikan adalah bagaimana mengubah budaya organisasi pemerintahan yang koruptif dan gaya kepemimpinan birokrasi yang arogan menjadi budaya organisasi dan gaya kepemimpinan yang mencerminkan prinsip-prinsip good govemance. Dalam konteks ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa dibalik fakta masalah budaya organisasi pemerintahan yang koruptif dan gaya kepemimpinan yang birokrasi yang arogan terungkap suatu meta masalah yang menuiukkan bahwa secara mental dan cultural para peiabat public di Indonesia Masih belum siap menerima perubahan-perubahan yang semakin menuntut betapa pentingnya moralitas pejabat public. Karena itu, filosofi masalah yang harus disikapi, diatasi dan diantisipasi melalui pelaksanaan kebijakan reformasi birokrasi adalah mengubah mentalitas para pejabat public yang arogan dan koruptif agar menjadi figur-figur yang amanah dan sekaligus mengubah pula nilai-nilai budaya organisasi pemerintahan yang koruptif menjadi budaya organisasi yang mencerminkan prinsip-prinsip good govemance.","PeriodicalId":30822,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Pemerintahan","volume":"125 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76664341","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This challenge has created a wide gap in the federation which threatens the sovereignty of the nation. These agitations for secession/disintegration, and restructuring from different strata of the nation have constituted a major threat to Nigerian sovereignty. Hence, the study looks at the make or mar locus confronting Nigeria federal system. Primary and secondary data were used for this study; the primary data were gathered through the use of a questionnaire, while content analysis was used for secondary data. The study revealed some issues involved in the agitation for restructuring which includes among others, the secession of some federating units, the creation of additional states, corruption, leadership crises, and the poor state of the country’s economy. Hence, the study recommends that there is an urgent need to restructure Nigeria’s federalism structure, especially the constitutional review that would involve all ethno- regional entities of the federation to engender equity and equality. The study concludes that until the political leaders reform the institutions and structures of the federal system, Nigeria’s nation may not attain its potential.","PeriodicalId":30822,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Pemerintahan","volume":"44 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90767153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Remote working entails new norms, which subsequently transform organisational culture that is central to organisational performance. This research explores how this change shapes organisational values that underpins organisational culture, and its effect on employees’ performance. Using a case study of a SME architectural firm in Bradford, UK, qualitative data was gathered through interviews and secondary data, where data was analysed using thematic analysis method. Synthesis suggests, to preserve the existing values, employers should seek to constantly engage with employees through frequent communications, demonstrate actions in favour of the values and reenforce them through reward and recognition. However, new mechanisms to implement this should be identified, given the new working environment (virtual) and different factors affecting employees’ motivation.","PeriodicalId":30822,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Pemerintahan","volume":"40 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80914230","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The covid-19 vaccine is one of the policies taken by many countries in response to the covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to find out how successful the vaccination policy was in handling the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The research method used in this study is Literature Review, the data used is to collect several research papers related to the covid-19 vaccination policy. The results of the research related to the success of the vaccination policy as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia can be said to be successful, because the level of attainment of vaccine doses continues to increase, then positive cases of COVID-19 continue to sag, although there are still pros and cons in the community, and there are also cases of the public’s distrust of the covid-19 vaccine, the biggest obstacle due to the lack of clarity of information regarding the corona vaccination, these obstacles can be input for the government to further accelerate the vaccination program. PKS’s decision to join an opposition party resulted in a substantial increase in its vote total, from 6.79% in the 2014 election to 8.21% in the 2019 election. There are hints that PKS intends to replicate the strategy employed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), which be- came President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s opposition during his two terms in office and won the 2014 election. Using secondary data and qualitative descriptive analysis, this study examines the model and pattern of PKS opposition to the Jokowi administration between 2014 and 2021. This study’s findings indicate that the relationship model between PKS and the government is cooperative rather than antagonistic. As an opposition party under a presidential system, PKS works as a balancer and controller of power through selective rather than universal criticism of government policies and performance.","PeriodicalId":30822,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Pemerintahan","volume":"72 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79075485","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
