In this paper, we propose a framework to strengthen password authentication using mobile devices and browser extensions. This approach provides a relatively high resilience against shoulder-surfing, phishing and keylogging attacks while requires no change on the server side. A prototype implementation of the proposed approach and its security analysis are also provided.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"169 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116550790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adaptive algorithms such as Least Mean Squares (LMS) and Normalized Least Mean Squares (NLMS) have many practical applications since they are simple and less complex. These gradient algorithms such as LMS and NLMS suffer from slow convergence. Recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm is computationally very complex algorithm. Therefore, there is a trade off between complexity and convergence speed. This paper utilizes an algorithm named closed loop delayless SAF with which the computational complexity is reduced and convergence performance is improved. Experimental results show that the utilized algorithm works really well in cancelling the low frequency band noise signal from a wideband signal corrupted with the low frequency noise.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116630279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resource allocation process is modeled as a two-level Stackelberg game, with the relay as the leader, and the multiple access users as followers. The best response dynamics for the non-cooperative game played by the followers for a given relay matrix is derived and its convergence proved. Then, computationally simpler equilibria that require very little CSI are proposed, and relay matrix design is carried out. Numerical results confirm the theoretical findings, showing the merits of the proposed resource allocation techniques.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"517 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123104378","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method works during the process of motion search for inter frame coding, by comparing the SAD of each residual block to two thresholds based on a value related to the QP, resulting in a two-option method for each threshold; where the 1st is for preserving quality, and the 2nd is for saving time. Normally VC-1 skips the quantization operation for detected zero blocks. In addition when a MB (macro-block) is detected as a zero MB, meaning that all 6 blocks in a MB are zeros; VC-1 signals this MB as a skipped MB, where it's treated differently and many processes are skipped on the MB layer. For that reason, the proposed method is enhanced again with skipping the transform operation, but for MBs with five zero blocks. Meaning that a 6th non-zero block in the MB will be a zero block, and the whole MB will then be signaled as a skipped MB. Loosing the information of the non-zero block, adds quality degradation, but compression takes place more effectively. Among the four sequences tested the Hall showed the best results with up to 73.55%, 78.00%, and 88.91% of the original file size, encoding, and decoding times respectively. On the other hand, the quality degraded, as was expected, with a maximum average PSNR by 5.3 dB for the Hall sequence and 3.4 dB in the Foreman sequence.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116496134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As input, ESPRIT needs the eigenvectors of the signal subspace. These can be generated by an eigenvalue decomposition or by subspace tracking algorithms. In this paper, we demonstrate, that subspace tracking is superior not only regarding computational complexity but also regarding accuracy, which is due to its temporal updating character. We will also detail the circumstances for which this holds and that delay is a side-effect.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114542509","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is particularly important for smart phones with battery limitations. With the help of the information from base stations, Assisted GPS (AGPS) and DGPS can do the positioning more efficiently and more precisely than GPS. In order to do the positioning, the pseudoranges between the receiver and the satellites are required. The most commonly used algorithm for position computation from pseudoranges is non-linear Least Squares (LS) method. Linearization is done to convert the non-linear system of equations into an iterative procedure, which requires the solution of a linear system of equations in each iteration, i.e. linear LS method is applied iteratively. CORDIC-based approximate rotations are used while computing the QR decomposition for solving the LS problem in each iteration. By choosing accuracy of the approximation, e.g. with a chosen number of optimal CORDIC angles per rotation, the LS computation can be simplified. The accuracy of the positioning results is compared for various numbers of required iterations and various approximation accuracies using real GPS data. The results show that very coarse approximations are sufficient for a reasonable positioning accuracy. Therefore, the presented method reduces the computational complexity significantly and is highly suitable for hardware implementation.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128303751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Addressed problem basically concerned with realistic computer-based educational simulations (e-Sims). More specifically, it searches for optimal software learning package(s) applied for teaching of specified curriculum(s) in classroom(s). Herein, quantitative evaluation as well as statistical analysis of (computer based) learning systems performance are performed. That is by adopting realistic neural network modeling of such systems searching for selecting an optimal software learning package . On the basis of a suggested selection criterion, fulfilled improvements after application of any SWLP are quantitatively measured . Consequently, an optimal computer assisting learning package is relevantly assigned for practical field application. Finally, obtained simulation results noticed to be supported well by some practical (field testing) results obtained after application of one software learning package in some classrooms (a case study).","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133674732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main goal is to test and experiment the CFM and the proposed architecture done in [1]. SCAMRA can be used to manage any holding meeting on offices, universities, organizations or any other location by managing sessions, attendees and generating overall meeting report. It uses a large variety of context including user location, favorite subjects, preferred setting display, questions/notes that users ask/take, time, presentations, schedules, reports, and many activities and/or services. Primary context used in SCAMRA is about person, device, time, location, activity and services. Those contexts are grouped under more general categories related to meeting state and time-context, which are as before meeting, start meeting, end meeting, during meeting and after meeting context. SCAMRA has two main activities, person arrival and ask/take question/note activity. Other activities are based on the previous meeting states. These activities enforce special services such as greeting arrivals, change desktop setting, send meeting presentations to members, display meeting schedule, open presentation in its session, save attendee's questions/notes, switch between Bluetooth and barcode as needed, register new visitors, format/create/open/print/send overall meeting report.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"13 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116559006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
