The linear part of the system is parameterized by a Finite Impulse Response filter and the binary sensor is parameterized by a threshold. The idea is to formulate the identification problem as a classification problem. This formulation allows the use of supervised learning algorithm such as Support Vector Machines (SVM). Simulation examples are given to illustrate the performance of the presented method.","PeriodicalId":308101,"journal":{"name":"2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134180147","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the potential applications, the DC-DC converters constitute an important class of systems, which concentrates the interest of the control community. The paper proposes a new formulation of the problem in the context of hybrid dynamic systems, which represents an adequate way for handling the requirements of DC-DC converters, while guaranteeing theoretically and practically all specications in terms of stability and performance. In this sense, the proposed approach encompasses several methods considered in the literature. The method is illustrated for the cases of buck and boost converters. The developed results are preliminary but constitute an interesting direction for reducing the gap between theoretical results and their practical applications in power electronics.","PeriodicalId":308101,"journal":{"name":"2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122653435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, the thermal dynamics of each zone are coupled with those of its neighboring zones. In this paper, we study an agent-based approach to model and control commercial building HVAC system for providing ancillary services to the power grid. In the multi-agent-building-system (MABS), individual zones are modeled as agents that can communicate, interact, and negotiate with one another to achieve a common objective. We first propose a distributed characterization method on the aggregate airflow (and thus fan power) flexibility that the HVAC system can provide to the ancillary service market. A Nash-bargaining-based airflow allocation strategy is then proposed to track a dispatch signal while respecting the preference and flexibility of individual zones. Moreover, we devise a distributed algorithm to obtain the Nash bargaining solution via dual decomposition. Numerical simulations illustrate that the proposed distributed protocols are much more scalable than centralized approaches especially when the system becomes larger and more complex.","PeriodicalId":308101,"journal":{"name":"2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128728725","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Instead of static inequalities, the states of so-called norm estimators are used to determine sampling instants. Using the tools from Lyapunov theory for hybrid systems and stability of cascaded nonlinear systems, it is shown that the closed loop system is globally asymptotically stable. Additional assumptions are required on the controller and system dynamics to guarantee that the proposed sampling routines do not lead to an accumulation of sampling times over a finite interval.","PeriodicalId":308101,"journal":{"name":"2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131379981","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such systems are often characterized by decentralized or distributed architectures, where agents have only a partial view of the system behavior and cooperate to achieve the control objective, aspects unsupported by HISC. We introduce the Hierarchical Interface-Based Decentralized Supervisory Control (HIDSC) framework that extends HISC to decentralized control. In decentralized control, the specification must satisfy a property called co-observability. The verification of co-observability requires the (possibly intractable) construction of the complete system. To adapt this property for HIDSC, we propose a per-component definition of co-observability along with a verification strategy that does not require the construction of the complete system. We provide and prove the necessary and sufficient conditions for supervisor existence in this new framework and illustrate our approach with an example.","PeriodicalId":308101,"journal":{"name":"2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132637517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We follow an emulation approach for this purpose. We first assume that a static feedback law is designed in continuous-time to guarantee such a dissipativity property. We then take into account sampling and we synthesize a triggering rule to preserve dissipativity. The parameters of the sampling law can be adjusted to approximately recover the quadratic terms of the initial supply rate with any desired accuracy by solving a linear matrix inequality, which can always be satisfied. We then tailor our results to specific quadratic dissipativity properties, namely (strict-)passivity and L2-stability. Our results cover periodic sampling as a particular case, for which we provide new explicit bounds on the maximum allowable sampling period.","PeriodicalId":308101,"journal":{"name":"2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115394826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, the Kuramoto model is a classical model for describing synchronization phenomena that arise in large-scale systems that exploit local information and interactions. In this work, an extension of such a model is presented, that considers the spatial distances among the oscillator nodes. In detail, coupling strength and spatial conditions are derived, needed to reach phase cohesiveness and frequency synchronization, both in the scenario when a single population of agents is present and when two different populations interact. These theoretical findings are confirmed by extensive numerical Monte Carlo simulations and statistical analysis.","PeriodicalId":308101,"journal":{"name":"2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC)","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115488995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
