A review of the technique and its development and implementation are provided. The advantages and disadvantages in comparison to other modulation techniques are also discussed. The ideas of using a guard interval to accommodate long delay ghosts and of creating spectrum notches to combat co-channel interferences, as well as of assigning different order of modulations or power levels to different sub-carriers for layered services are discussed. The authors have developed the world's smallest and highest picture quality CCD color camera to enlarge the camera market. This camera is 7.0 mm in diameter, 47 mm in length, and only 4 g in weight. The driving force to realize the camera was to develop the smallest CCD package. The new CCD package, TOG:TAB (tape automated bonding) on glass, is almost as small as a CCD bare chip with a 1/4-inch size. Furthermore, the TOG package realizes a simple production process and high reliability. >","PeriodicalId":306595,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124252876","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this proposed skip play mode, the fixed scanner heads read tracks at normal speeds in the normal state, skip several tracks at very high speeds in the skip state, go back to the normal state, and repeats this cycle repeatedly. So a noiseless single frame is reconstructed. The proposed scheme needs no modifications in neither the coding scheme not servo hardware, and allows noiseless playback at speeds up to 25-times normal in the forward direction. >","PeriodicalId":306595,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116252668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However conventional recording and coding techniques have not successfully satisfied the requirement. On the other hand, most pictures are of too high quality in constant bit rate coding. The authors have applied a variable bit rate coding scheme to the disc, and evaluated encoding, recording, playback and decoding. The report mainly discusses a rate control method. They have used a provisional coding to set the target rates of pictures, and considered a non-linear conversion of the target rate for constant visual quality. It gives stable picture and recording of the full data to fit the disc capacity. >","PeriodicalId":306595,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126017666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
