Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XII SMK Negeri 1 Purwosari di Kabupaten Pasuruan Jawa Timur. Pengambilan sampel sebanyak 162 siswa ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik proportional random sampling. Metode pengum-pulan data menggunakan angket dengan model skala likert lima alternatif jawaban dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis jalur (path analysis). Uji validitas instrumen menggunakan korelasi product moment sedangkan untuk reliabilitas instrumen menggunakan nilai Alpha Cronbach’s. Temuan penelitian adalah: (1) pengalaman praktik kerja industri tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kesiapan berwirausaha, (2) pengalaman praktik kerja industri berpengaruh signifi-kan terhadap kompetensi keahlian, (3) pengalaman praktik kerja industri memiliki pengaruh tidak langsung terhadap kesiapan berwirausaha melalui variabel kompetensi keahlian, (4) kompetensi keahlian berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kesiapan berwirausaha, (5) intensitas pendidikan kewirausahaan dalam keluarga memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kompetensi keahlian, dan (6) pengalaman praktik kerja industri, kompetensi keahlian dan intensitas pendidikan kewirausaha-an dalam keluarga memiliki pengaruh secara serempak terhadap kesiapan berwirausaha. Firstly, many English stu-dents of the English Department of Tadulako University cannot actively participate in English conver-sation because they do know how to keep the conversation running fluently. Secondly, most of these students do not recognize the types of conversation strategies, let alone to use them in a con-versation. The main purpose of this study is to describe and identify conversation strategies employed by the fourth semester students of the English Department of Tadulako University in English conver-sations to maintain the conversation running fluently. The design of this study was qualitative. Twenty-four students taking Conversation Course IV at the English Department of Tadulako University were the subjects of the study. Twelve conversation strategies were discovered: (1) filler, (2) asking for clarification, (3) code switching, (4)  interpretive summary, (5) changing topic, (6) circumlocution (7) comprehension check, and (8) self-correcting, plus four other types of conversation strategies that are not listed in communication theories: (9) giving clarification, (10) correcting other, (11) self-referencing, and (12) surprising, and seven non-verbal conversation strategies in maintaining conver-sation taking place well: (1) shake-hands, (2) thumb-up, (3) open palm,  (4) smile, (5) eye contact, (6) head nodding, and (7) head shaking. In conclusion, conversation strategies can help the students get some useful feedback from each other on their own performances. Bentuk data dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer dan data sekunder yang diperoleh dari informan maupun dokumen-dokumen pendukung. Analisis data dilakukan melalui dua tahap yaitu analisis data kasus individu dan analisis data lintas kasus. Hasil penelitian menunjuk-kan bahwa (1) analisis kebutuhan pengembangan SDM mencakup analisis kualitas dan kuantitas, (2) implementasi pengembangan SDM dilakukan melalui rekrutmen, program pendidikan dan pelatihan, program pendidikan, dan pembentukan budaya pesantren; (3) evaluasi pengembangan SDM ditekan-kan pada perubahan sikap dan prilaku dalam menjalankan peran dan tanggung jawab. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan psikologis dan rancangan peneliti-an kualitatif dengan metode hermeneutika. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisi-pan, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian adalah: (1) karakter kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dalam menumbuhkan motivasi berprestasi guru dipengaruhi oleh budaya, pendidikan kepala sekolah, kondisi warga sekolah; (2) pendekatan yang dilakukan kepala sekolah dalam menumbuhkan motivasi berpresta-si guru adalah melalui: self-explorer, human relation-explorer, komunikasi yang baik; (3) peranan kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dalam menumbuhkan motivasi berprestasi guru di sekolah mengedepan-kan: orientasi pada tugas, orientasi pada memelihara kelompok; (4) respons guru terhadap kepala se-kolah dalam menumbuhkan motivasi berprestasi guru di sekolah adalah: menerima dengan sepenuh hati, dan mengedepankan realisasi keseimbangan antara tugas dan kewajiban dengan penghargaan (reward) dan sarana prasarana yang memadai; (5) prestasi guru yang berhasil ditumbuhkan meliputi: keberhasilan kompetisi pada kegiatan akademis, dan keberhasilan kompetisi pada kegiatan ekstra-kurikuler. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan ku-alitatif dengan rancangan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK/classroom action research). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara umum dengan strategi pemodelan kemampuan menulis makalah mahasiswa meningkat. Peningkatan tersebut dapat dilihat dari pencapaian ketuntasan setiap sub aspek menulis makalah pada setiap siklus. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah kemampuan menulis makalah mahasis-wa dapat ditingkatkan melalui strategi pemodelan. Kemampuan menulis makalah mahasiswa yang meningkat adalah aspek isi dan bahasa yang meliputi judul, pendahuluan, pembahasan, penutup, dan daftar rujukan. Edy","doi":"10.17977/JPH.V2I1.4443","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17977/JPH.V2I1.4443","url":null,"abstract":"Abstract : The study investagates if the extensive reading activity is effective in improving students’ reading comprehension achievement and if there is any interaction between the extensive reading and the students’ reading motivation.This study employs a quasi-factorial design with a pretest and posttest non-equivalence group design. The subjects of the study were the second semester students of STAIN Curup, Bengkulu in academic year 2011-2012. Students’ reading comprehension achievement was measured by an objective test in the form of multiple choices; students’ reading motivation was profiled and classified by a reading motivation questionnaire. In analyzing the data collected, the re-search used Multivariate Analysis of Covariance. This research reveals the following findings. (1) The students taught by the extensive reading activity showed higher scores than those taught by conventional way. (2) There is no interaction between students’ motivation and extensive reading. Key Words : extensive reading, reading comprehension, effectiveness Abstrak : Studi ini meneliti apakah kegiatan membaca ekstensif efektif meningkatkan prestasi siswa dalam memahami bacaan dan apakah ada interaksi antara membaca ekstensif dan motivasi membaca siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan quasi-factorial design dengan pre test dan posttest non-equiva-lence group design. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester II STAIN Curup, Bengkulu tahun ajaran 2011-2012. Prestasi pemahaman siswa membaca diukur dengan tes objektif dalam bentuk pilihan ganda; motivasi membaca siswa digambarkan dan diklasifikasikan dengan kuesioner motivasi membaca. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan multivariat analisis kovarians. Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut. (1) Siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan kegiatan membaca ekstensif menunjukkan skor yang lebih tinggi daripada yang dibelajarkan dengan cara konvensional. (2) Tidak ada interaksi antara motivasi belajar siswa dengan membaca ekstensif. This study was conducted by considering the significant roles the teachers played in orchestrating classroom activities which involved the accumulation of the teachers’ efforts, values and beliefs. The findings revealed that the teachers exposed their identity in different ways for both different roles and local positioning which were culturally, socially, politically, and religiously constructed. The teachers also perceived their identity which could be clustered into four broad areas which showed their understanding and the significant functions of their identity representation.
