This global trend can be correlated based on publicly available statistics. This paper proposes a statistical analysis to identify a geospatial and temporal patterns in the cyberattacks and use this knowledge to predict future attack trend. Using a publicly available honeypot data, this work aims to (i) incroporate long range dependence in the analysis of the number of cyber-attacks, which may be a result of spread of malware agents, (ii) propose a measure on how to determine whether or not to consider dependence structure between different honeypot hosts, and (iii) establish a modeling tool that would be intuitive in a honeynet, where honeypot hosts are closely connected and related. The proposed vector autoregression approach reveals the dependencies among honeypots.","PeriodicalId":305933,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Europe (ISGT-Europe)","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129110874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The methodology is based on the analysis of the transient behavior of electrical frequency following severe disturbances on the system. Three different evaluation criteria such as damping of oscillation, speed variation and amplitude of the oscillation were implemented among other things in the sophisticated Lyapunov Exponent approach to assess the severity of a system event. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, simulations results on the initial dynamic model of Continental Europe from ENTSO-E using the commercial power system software DigSilent PowerFactory were performed to represent on a realistic form the transient behavior of the system. The study cases shown here, were carefully selected among more than 30 000 possible event combinations. The proposed algorithm can be used to analyze and compare the impact of topology changes in the future power grid e.g. massive introduction of renewable energy sources (RES) as prognosticated by several European energy policies.","PeriodicalId":305933,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Europe (ISGT-Europe)","volume":"457 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123856665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data-driven based TSA has been continuously concerned due to the wide deployment of phasor measurement unit (PMU) in recent year. In this paper, a temporal feature selection for time-adaptive transient stability assessment scheme is proposed, which is one efficient filter feature ranking algorithm to extract the crucial temporal features subset by calculating the feature importance. Consequently, the accuracy and speed of TSA can be balanced. The simulation implemented on New England 39-bus power system demonstrates the effectiveness of proposed method to decrease the model complexity and speed up the training process. In addition, explanation of the reason why the response time can be reduced with proposed temporal feature selection for TSA is also presented from the data visualization view.","PeriodicalId":305933,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Europe (ISGT-Europe)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114312561","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two types of DR programs are implemented in this model, i.e., time-of-use and reward based DR program. The information-gap decision theory is being employed as a risk measure to address the uncertainties. Two uncertain parameters from both sides of the aggregator have been taken into account in this model, such as the participation rate of the consumers in reward-based DR program in the consumer-side of the aggregator and the day-ahead market prices in the wholesale-side of it. Calculating potential earnings from grid services and charging strategies highly depends on the driving time, driving distance, and time spent at different locations. While few datasets describing EV usage exist, this work is based on one of the most extensive datasets gathered from 7,163 Nissan LEAFs. Using the real driving and charging data it was possible to calculate the value of a specific charging strategy for the individual EV. The EV dataset was used in a simulation based on British electricity transmission network operating codes and frequency measurement data. The outcome is the profit from frequency regulation for each EV in the data-set, which is found to range between 50 and 350 £/year, because of the large difference in the EV usage.","PeriodicalId":305933,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Europe (ISGT-Europe)","volume":"132 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113991180","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A determination of the demanded volume of AnS reserves is based on the expected difference between generation and consumption. The final portfolio of requested AnS reserve type is composed of bids with the lowest price and possible power network limitations (i.e. an impact on system security aspects like branches' current limits, nodal voltage security ranges) are not considered in the AnS procurement process. In power network balancing, an activation of AnS reserves in a location operating close to system security margins may lead to possible violation of system security criteria and costly remedial action needs be triggered (e.g. redispatch on power plants), which results in a significant economic inefficiency and possible violation of reliable operation of the power system. Consideration of system security aspects in the procurement of AnS reserves will lead to an economically efficient allocation of procured AnS reserves, which will increase the reliability and security of power system operation. In this paper, the interval method of secure power injections is extended for needs of optimal AnS reserves purchase, which will take into account economic as well as system security aspects. Further, the use of the developed method for optimal and secure AnS portfolio determination is shown in the case study from the Czech transmission system.","PeriodicalId":305933,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Europe (ISGT-Europe)","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124484365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among all the strategies available to handle these over-voltage issues, those implemented locally at the PV inverters seem to be the more promising, considering their distributed and easy-to-implement features. In this paper, the feasibility and performance assessment of a commercial PV inverter for mitigating over-voltage events in an EDS is presented. To do this, an active and reactive droop-based voltage control strategy is implemented in a commercial inverter. Realtime power hardware-in-the-loop (PHIL) laboratory tests were performed to assess the PV inverter's efficiency when absorbing reactive power, as well as its interaction with the distribution grid. According to the obtained results, the PV inverter's efficiency was not noticeably affected by the changes in reactive power. Additionally, the PV inverter responded accordingly, following the voltage control strategy implemented, providing successfully the expected voltage support services.","PeriodicalId":305933,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Europe (ISGT-Europe)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126356529","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed approach relies on vector fitting to obtain parametric values for parallel $RL$-branches representing the frequency-dependency of the series impedance of the cable in the stationary frame. The number of cascaded FD-$pi$ sections with their corresponding shunt capacitance is then selected in order to represent the internal resonance frequencies of the cable up to the required modelling bandwidth. The resulting stationary frame model is transformed to a synchronously rotating dq reference frame to obtain a state-space formulation compatible with the time-invariant representation of other system components. The presented model allows for accurate time-invariant state-space modelling of power systems with long ac-cables where electromagnetic transients cannot be neglected in small-signal stability studies. The characteristics of the time-invariant cable model is evaluated in the frequency domain, illustrating the impact of the number of $pi$ sections and parallel $RL$ branches on the accuracy and the associated oscillation modes of the state-space model.","PeriodicalId":305933,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Europe (ISGT-Europe)","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121466052","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
