Drawing on the framework originally proposed by Orlikowski and Iacono (2001), the article identifies current themes and trends in the coworking debate. The main finding is that the role of ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) is not only under-represented, but that two key elements are noticeably absent from the discourse: the autonomy-control linkage and the temporal-spatial configuration of work. The paper illuminates those areas of the coworking puzzle in which new politics of time and space call for further investigation, positing that the scholarly spotlight needs to retrain on the role of technology.","PeriodicalId":305932,"journal":{"name":"STUDI ORGANIZZATIVI","volume":"78 7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128102514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Action research is introduced as a method for correcting these deficiencies. When action research is tested against the criteria of positivist science, action research is found not to meet its critical tests. The appropriateness of positivist science is questioned as a basis for judging the scientific merits of action research. Action research can base its legitimacy as science in philosophical traditions that are different from those which legitimate positivist science. Criteria and methods of science appropriate to action research are offered.","PeriodicalId":305932,"journal":{"name":"STUDI ORGANIZZATIVI","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133538517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One specific case is the role of the MiFID II Directive in the adoption of new technologies, work organization models, and implementation of reskilling processes. The article looks at the Italian context after the introduction of the Directive together with the turbulent environment from the economic, socio-cultural and technological point of view of the years after the recession. And in particular focuses on how industrial relations, through collective agreements at the national and especially at the firm level helped the governance of these challenges. To do this the paper wants to analyze this phenomenon starting from a deepening of impacts of MiFID II on work or-ganization and through a focus on the actual scenario of industrial relations in the sector in Italy before showing two different case studies, Unicredit and Banca Eti-ca, through which analyze how social partners through collective agreements acted after MiFID II. It emerges how the institutional context of industrial relations in the sector helped in enforcing collective agreements at the company level and at the same time the presence of bilateral institutions helped in reducing redundancies due to restructuring processes.","PeriodicalId":305932,"journal":{"name":"STUDI ORGANIZZATIVI","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125066940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tuttavia, la strumentazione a disposizione degli scienziati sociali non è definita né univoca. L'articolo vuole riportare all'attenzione del lettore le po-tenzialità esplicative di alcuni approcci classici, mettendone a fuoco gli strumenti analitici, in particolare quelli prodotti nell'ambito della teoria generale dei sistemi e dell'analisi sistemica delle organizzazioni. L'articolo propone un breve excursus di quelli che possono essere (e vengono in genere) considerati come precedenti dell'analisi di rete in una prospettiva preva-lentemente sociologica: dall'economia dei costi di transazione al neoistituzionali-smo organizzativo, dall'ecologia delle popolazioni organizzative all'organization-set. Un'attenzione particolare viene dedicata alla prospettiva sistemica, molto dif-fusa nell'analisi organizzativa a partire dai primi anni Sessanta ma sorprendente-mente abbandonata proprio mentre le reti organizzative conquistavano la scena. Proprio all'interno della prospettiva sistemica vengono messi a punto alcuni strumenti di analisi (la discussione su obiettivi e confini del sistema, il loose cou-pling, il relè organizzativo), tradizionalmente utilizzati per descrivere e spiegare or-ganizzazioni compatte, che ci sembrano estremamente efficaci per l'analisi di rete. L'articolo mira a mostrare l'efficacia di tali strumenti per la comprensione del funzionamento delle reti di organizzazioni.","PeriodicalId":305932,"journal":{"name":"STUDI ORGANIZZATIVI","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125494493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many researchers have described this mass experience above all from the point of view of the advantages and disadvantages for the company and of the positive and negative aspects for the worker. But the changes in technology and organization associated with remote work have not been examined in depth. This article studies technological and organizational changes and their connection with the autonomy and participation of workers. From the qualitative investigations of five cases it emerges that in fact remote work has allowed a partial increase in autonomy and a consequent development of teamwork. It was perceived as a growth in the direct participation of workers which in turn has strengthened innovation. However, differences emerged between the companies. In cases of low level of innovation, team development has remained within the functional areas and technological innovation has concerned the communication platforms and improvements in existing systems. Instead, in cases of high level of innovation, the teams have developed the cross-functional dimension and the use of 4.0 technologies has been intensified.","PeriodicalId":305932,"journal":{"name":"STUDI ORGANIZZATIVI","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114375283","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Italy, recovery is supported by a vast legislative apparatus (such as the Marcora Law) and by the cooperative world. This paper reflects on the processes of resistance to closure and the resulting job loss that al-low experimenting with new organizational practices within a different logic of management, such as solidarity and job protection. Presenting a case study with an inductive chain of reasoning we identify the articulation of institutional opportunities present in the Italian context and highlight which organizational processes are generated in the recovery and conversion of a WBO firm characterized as a \"hybrid organization\". The paper first focuses on the Italian context with reference to existing secondary data and published material, clarifying why this organizational transformation must be explained within an institutional framework. It then outlines the theoretical background that allowed us to explore the organizational functioning of WBOs through the framework of institutional theory. Finally, we present the results and conclude with a discussion of our empirical and theoretical contribution.","PeriodicalId":305932,"journal":{"name":"STUDI ORGANIZZATIVI","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132940420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
