The main objective is to obtain the unity power factor with less harmonic distortion. Hysteresis current controller and fuzzy logic controller (FLC) are designed and compared for the application of a single-phase dual output ac-to-dc converter. Compared with the hysteresis current control (HCC) technique; fuzzy logic gives better steady state performance such as high power factor and low harmonic distortion. Closed loop analysis with HCC and FLC is presented where the line current is driven to follow the reference sinusoidal current. The main objective of economic dispatch is to reduce the total power generation cost, while satisfying various equality and inequality constraints. Traditionally in economic dispatch problems, the cost function for generating units has been approximated as a quadratic function which doesn't provide accurate results. Moreover, to obtain accurate fuel cost, valve-point effect in thermal power plant has to be taken into account. The inclusion of valve-point effect makes the modeling of the fuel cost functions of generating units more practical. In this paper a new hybrid evolutionary algorithm called Hybrid PSO, has been employed to solve economic dispatch problem with the valve-point effect. The hybrid PSO algorithm integrates evolutionary operators, such as selection and mutation, with the standard PSO algorithm. The algorithm synergistically combines PSO with a very powerful member of the Evolutionary algorithm (EA) family, well-known as Differential Evolution (DE). Using Hybrid PSO technique the non-linear cost function is solved for three unit system and the results are compared with the traditional PSO, DE and Genetic Algorithm (GA) method. This paper presents a novel algorithm for accurate iris recognition using Ridgelet transform. In this work, the pupil and limbic boundaries are detected by using the equation of circle. Canny edge detection scheme is used for iris boundary detection. After that, eyelids are localized via edge detection followed by curve fitting. A rank filter is adopted for eyelash removal and a histogram filter, for tackling the shape irregularity of eyelids. Finally edge fitting is performed to deal with non circular iris boundaries. After edge fitting, Ridgelet transform is applied and Co-occurrence matrix is computed for each sub band for feature extraction. This paper deals with the design of radioactive wireless sensor by a novel approach of Principal component analysis (PCA) and with a realizable scintillator design. Former, very few radioactive sensor sensed β rays only from radioactive element by wired network. But innovatively, the proposed wireless radioactive sensor senses a, β and γ rays from the hazardous radiation and transmit the sensed signal by wireless network. The past works of radioactive sensor (RAS) are not realizable and exist only as a prototype. Hence our work towards the RAS is realizable and reliable. Innovatively, this wireless radioactive sensor (WRAS) based on Barium Platino Cyanide Ba[Pt(CN)4] scintillator and Photo multiplier tube (PMT) with Charge coupled devices (CCD). The photon particle from the scintillator is typically measured with a PMT. PMT is attached with small signal voltage amplifier to amplify photo-electric signal. The photo electric signal is used to count α, β and γ rays. If count is in the acceptable range then that will be transmitted to the destination with the wireless network. Moreover Number of sensor used to detect the hazards is calculated in optimized way by Basien stochastic priori estimates of target location and source intensity. Noise from the environment mixed with the transmitted signal is eliminated by principal component analysis. After PCA, the received signal is accurately decoded this will decrease error floor performance of wireless network. Channel crosstalk and performance degradation of the system can be induced in the multi channel systems by FWM. In this paper, the FWM affecting the original Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexed (DWDM) signal power is studied and suppression of FWM is achieved by placing the Optical Phase Conjugator (OPC) in the midway of the fiber optic link. It strongly suppresses the FWM signal by introducing the destructive interference between the first and second halves of the fiber optic link. Reconstruction of original signal can be achieved by placing another OPC at the end of the second fiber span. The technique is based on preprocessing of transmitted signal relying on knowledge of the channel state information (CSI) before transmission. In most of the previous works, this a priori information is either assumed or estimated for the uplink and the same is applied to the downlink in Time Division Duplex (TDD) systems due to channel reciprocity. In this paper, we propose a method for channel prediction to evaluate the Pre-Rake system using binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) modulation in frequency-division duplex (FDD) through analytical and computer simulations for DS-CDMA downlink. Deregulation is a new paradigm in the electric power industry. In deregulated environment, the pricing of the use of transmission system, which is satisfactorily allocated among the involved parties, has become one of the major issues. Transmission pricing must be non-discriminatory, transparent, economically efficient, and allow full recovery of costs. In this paper, the Marginal Participation (MP) method is proposed to calculate transmission price for the transacted power using PSS/E and MATLAB environment and the results are compared with the MW-Mile method. Based on the review of Indian system, MP method defines usage of each network branch in terms of the increment in power flows on that network branch if the generation / demand were to marginally increase. Transmission charges determined using MP method is found to be most appropriate since it directly computes the relative use of each network branch. The system decomposes an image into discrete regions and each region is described using primitive features such as color, texture, shape or the combination of them. The extracted regions are indexed and retrieved. One of the key issues with the region-based image retrieval system is to extract essential information from the raw data which reflect the image content. Although large numbers of feature extraction, indexing and retrieval techniques have been developed, there are still no universally accepted techniques available for region/object representation and retrieval. In this paper we analyzes a biological vision based system which doesn't need full semantic understanding of image content, extracts features from significant/salient regions and index them for retrieval. The proposed system uses saliency map to locate viewer's attention and Curvelet Transform in combination with color histogram to represent the significant regions. The energy audit indicated scope areas for conservation of energy. Energy audit study at the plant resulted in identification of the following energy saving opportunities. This study results in saving of about Rs 57,083 / year in the annual energy bill of the plant. Total approximate investment required about Rs 74280 which has a payback period of around 1.3 years.
