Istraživanje je provedeno među studentima i nastavnicima na Sveucilistu J. J. Strossmayera u Osijeku putem tiskanih i online upitnika. S obzirom na stavove, istraživanje je pokazalo da studenti imaju pozitivnije misljenje o Wikipediji od nastavnika te da se njihovi stavovi u znacajnoj mjeri razlikuju po spolu, znanstvenom podrucju te ucestalosti koristenja fakultetske knjižnice i online baza podataka. Nastavnicki se pak stavovi u znacajnoj mjeri razlikuju jedino po spolu, pri cemu, kao i kod studentske populacije, muski ispitanici imaju opcenito pozitivnije stavove o Wikipediji od ženskih. Iako rezultati pokazuju da se nastavnici izrazito rijetko koriste Wikipedijom u akademske svrhe, svega 19,8% ispitanih nastavnika svojim studentima izricito zabranjuje koristenje te mrežne enciklopedije. Nadalje, nastavnici Wikipediju cesce koriste za potrebe nastave nego u kontekstu znanstvenoistraživackog rada, a studenti Wikipediju koriste u vecoj mjeri zbog lakoce pronalaženja informacija nego zbog kvalitetnih i pouzdanih clanaka. Dok za nastavnicko koristenje Wikipedije nije utvrđena statisticki znacajna razlika ni za jedan cimbenik (spol, zvanje, znanstveno podrucje), studentsko koristenje Wikipedije u znacajnijoj se mjeri razlikuje po spolu, razini studija, znanstvenom podrucju, akademskom uspjehu, ucestalosti koristenja fakultetske knjižnice te percipiranom stavu nastavnika o koristenju tog izvora.","PeriodicalId":30549,"journal":{"name":"Libellarium Journal for the Research of Writing Books and Cultural Heritage Institutions","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66945587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If academic libraries are to remain integral parts of educational experience of students, librarians and managers of academic institutions need to think anew their physical and virtual spaces and services \u0000The paper presents results of a survey which aimed to investigate the perceptions and experiences of graduate students in humanities and social sciences regarding physical and virtual library spaces and services, and to assess their satisfaction with them. \u0000Results of the study show that the largest number of respondents ue their academic library regularly (several time a month or week) and that more than half consider physical library spaces and services important for their successful learning. Interestingly, students reported that electronic library sources are more important to them than physical library spaces and services, although they prefer print material over electronic sources of information. Respondents had split opinions regarding their favourite learning place in the library: slightly more respondents preferred silent reading room over the group study room. The study has shown that perception adn use of academic library is influenced by gender, academic success and personal approach to the studying.","PeriodicalId":30549,"journal":{"name":"Libellarium Journal for the Research of Writing Books and Cultural Heritage Institutions","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-02-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66940690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, earlier decades were marked by conflicting views about the effects of writing on learning; in the past decade, the use of meta-analysis has shown that the effects of writing on learning are reliable, and that several variables mediate and moderate these effects. Secondly, in earlier decades, it was thought that text as a medium inherently elicited thinking and learning. Research during the past decade has indicated that writing to learn is a self-regulated activity, dependent on the goals and strategies of the writer. Thirdly, the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) movement emphasized domain-general approaches to Writing to Learn (WTL). Much recent research is consistent with the Writing in the Disciplines (WID) movement, incorporating genres that embody forms of reasoning specific to a given discipline. Fourthly, WTL as a classroom practice was always partially social, but the theoretical conceptualization of it was largely individual. During the past two decades, WTL has broadened to include theories and research that integrate social and psychological processes. Fifthly, WTL research has traditionally focused on epistemic learning in schools; more recently, it has been extended to include reflective learning in the professions and additional kinds of outcomes.","PeriodicalId":30549,"journal":{"name":"Libellarium Journal for the Research of Writing Books and Cultural Heritage Institutions","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74540846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
