Mediante el metodo de muestreo por transectos (punto-centro-cuadrado) y el valor obtenido por medio del Indice de Valor de Importancia (IVI) aplicados al Area de Conservacion Regional (ACR) Huacrupe La Calera (Olmos, Lambayeque), se corrobora cuan importante es esta especie en el funcionamiento del ecosistema. Por fuentes primarias y recopilacion biblio- grafica, se demuestra su rol en el desarrollo de comunidades en cuanto a sus aportes economicos y culturales en varias zonas de la costa norte desde tiempos antiguos. Las supuestas amenazas representadas por la central constituyen un apice de la dimension tragica atribuida historica y culturalmente a la actividad nuclear. Si bien desde el accidente de Fukushima en Japon el temor a los accidentes y la aprehension como una rutina practicada en la central comenzaron a tomar mas fuerza que tiempo atras, lo cierto es que estos posibles riesgos fueron contrapuestos tambien con la necesidad de mantener los puestos de trabajo y con la necesidad de comenzar a generar energias limpias y, de esa forma, intentar disminuir el impacto ambiental. Frente a estas cuestiones, que movilizan a distintos actores sociales con intereses diversos, buscamos recuperar las percepciones y el imaginario social de los habitantes de esta localidad frente a la empresa Nucleoelectrica Argentina. The study site is 11 000 hectares and it is located in the Las Piedras Region, north of Tambopata province, Madre de Dios. Camera traps were used to monitor the ocelot population during a 7-month period (from August 2012 to February 2013), divided in 9 rounds were 73 cameras were installed. The camera traps found 8 independent ocelots, from which only 3 (A1, A3 and A6) were recaptured in more than one occasion. The study did a capture-recapture analysis. The distance traveled by the ocelots from a capture to a recapture site was used to estimate the effective sampled area using the Mean Maximum Distance Moved - MMDM and Half MMDM. The methods yielded a density of 70 individuals/100km2 and 180 individuals/100km2, with full MMDM and Half MMDM, respectively. The study also analyzed the camera trap capture probability with PRESENCE software. Using a closed CR analysis followed by a model of constant capture probability, it yielded a capture probability rate of 0,3 (SE 0,0567). Finally, the ocelot’s habitat preference was also studied using a combination of satellite imagery and GIS software. How is urban growth perceived by campesinos who live on the outskirts of mountain cities? How do urban people who live on the new peripheries perceive the impacts of urban growth on smallholders? Using the intermediate city of Huancayo—the most important Andean city of the Central Peruvian sierra—as a case in point, the present study analyzes the quantitative growth of built-up land as well as the change in land cover around the city between 1988 and 2008. Moreover, the study explains the positive and negative impacts as perceived by smallholders living on the outskirts of Huancayo, and reveals the opinions of urbanites from nearby residential zones. The knowledge of indigenous groups is of vital need in the South and Central American context because of the important amount of indigenous population that lives in these countries. Only in Peru, four million indigenous people were counted in the last national census. Stephen Corry’s book is relevant because it provides a general outlook about the history and contemporary problematic of indigenous people and tribes. However, the lack of references to lay the foundations of his arguments is noticeable, making them seem superficial, extremely general and subjective in occasions. Even so, this book might prove to be a rich starting point for those who are interested in knowing more about indigenous people, using it as a non-academic guide and reference material on general culture about the subject. In this case, the disaster risk management plan, which is part of the management tools that any educational institution should have implemented. To this end, a population of 167 high school fifth graders was considered, of which 117 students were taken as sample. The study developed a quantitative, basic type approach of correlational, descriptive level, and cross, non-experimental design. The instrument used for the study was the measurement questionnaire Risk Management Plan and Environmental Culture.
