These developments have made governance arrangements and decision-making processes in higher education more complex and multidimensional more than ever and forced scholars to build new analytical and heuristic tools and strategies to grasp the intricacy and diversity of higher education governance dynamics. This article provides a systematic discussion of how and through which tools prominent scholars of higher education have analyzed governance in this sector by examining certain heuristic frameworks and analytical models. Additionally, the article shows how social scientific analysis of governance in higher education has proceeded in a cumulative way with certain revisions and syntheses rather than radical conceptual and theoretical ruptures from Burton R. In Porter’s five forces model, forces termed as the threat of new entrants, threat of substitute products, bargaining power of suppliers, bargaining power of customers, and established rivals between the companies are used to understand the threats and opportunities posed by the industry’s environmental circumstances. Th e five forces model has been extensively used as an analytical tool to determine the intensity of rivalry and levels of profitability. Th us, managers can develop strategies and discover ways to defend their companies against competitive forces. Although there have been numerous studies conducted with this model for various sectors, the studies implementing this theory to higher education are very scarce due to uncertainty about whether higher education could be regarded as an industry together with its profitability and rivalry components. Specifically, in Turkey, with the idea of considering higher education to be an industry being disputable compared with western countries and even regarded as unmannerly and disloyal to academia explains the lack of studies on this subject. In this study, within the scope of the related literature, the five forces model will be discussed in conjunction with higher education. Subsequently, the factors and evaluations that are shown within this scope will be associated with the external environmental conditions of Turkish higher education. Since there is a lack of well-writt en sources and suff icient data, the association with Turkish higher education will not be deeply detailed. To perceive the threats and opportunities to higher education from external environmental conditions, an overall approach will be achieved. To this end, the factors that affect behavioral intentions of teacher candidates and the types of relations between these factors were discovered through the use of Structural Equation Modeling. The participants of the study consisted of 153 senior students in Faculty of Education at Atatürk University. The results showed that the model developed in the study explained 44% of variance in teacher candidates’ intentions to use interactive white boards in their future lessons. According to this model, the factors of performance expectancy and social influence had an impact on the behavioral intentions of teacher candidates. While the factor of effort expectancy did not affect behavioral intentions significantly, it was revealed that the factors of effort expectancy and social influence played a role in performance expectancy. Feminism has emerged to draw attention to the these impacts of gender discrimination and to reduce it’s negative consequences. Social transformation is necessary to ensure gender justice. One of the important steps for achieving this transformation is to educate the youth and increase their awareness. This study was conducted with the aim to determine Dumlupinar University, School of Health students’ opinions on feminism and gender roles. The population of this study consisted of 1293 students. The sample was comprised of 846 students who accepted to participate in the study. Data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed with percentiles, KruskalWalls and Mann-Whitney U-Tests. 43.3% of students defined feminism as “a style of thought that advocates women are more superior than men” and 31.9% of them as “a style of thought that advocates the equity of social opportunity”. Male students were found to have more traditional opinions on gender roles related to work, social, marriage and family life. This study revealed that male students had more conventional opinions in the fields of working and married life while male and female students had egalatirian opinions in the propositions about social life and family life. Besides, the results of the study revealed that the opinions of students on gender roles related to work, social, marriage and family life exhibited statistically significant differences among the departments for all of the statements given. It was observed that midwifery students had more egalitarian views. Also, it was determined that upper class students had more egalitarian opinions. As a result of our study, it was seen that university students still had a traditional perspective on social gender roles. According to the results of the questionnaire we can state that the youth do not understand feminism with all its aspects and digest it. Therefore, the awareness of the university students about feminism and gender should be increased. The aim of this study was to develop a scale that measures accountability in higher education institutions. For the generation of the scale items, the relevant literature was examined in detail both from national and international sources. The views of the academics (N=11) on accountability in higher education institutions were acquired, as well. The scale, whose content and language validity checks were performed, was applied to 200 academics, who worked at Turkish higher education institutions and were chosen through random sampling. As a result of the explanatory factor analysis, which was conducted to explore construct validity, 7 dimensions of the scale were identified. The confirmatory factor analysis which was conducted to check the accuracy of the identified structure showed that the model fit perfectly with that structure (χ2/df=1, 2; RMESA=0.04; NNFI=.95; CFI=.95). The internal consistency of the scale as measured by Cronbach alpha coefficient was calculated as .94. The major employer of primary school teachers is public schools that are funded by state. There will be a gap between grade inflation and employment rate when all of the teacher candidates claim to be appointed to public schools. Hence private educational organizations provide alternative career opportunities for teacher candidates. Qualitative methods will be used in this study to display real evidence from the eyes of teachers and also principals. The data have been obtained through documents and interview techniques. After the data have been collected, descriptive analysis has been used. The findings of the study were given within the frame of themes and codes which were determined based on the problem statement. The first theme, career was presented in the context of choosing sector, recruitment and selecting process, professional development, leave the profession. The second theme, factors affecting first years’ success was explained in the context of teaching factors, consistency and skills focus. In accordance with this purpose, in 2014-2015 academic year, opinions of 154 final year students (candidate seafarer) from three different universities were qualitatively assessed. The major finding of the study is that professional experience based on internship causes various differences in the perception of seafarer candidates towards the profession and in their choice of profession. Moreover, the students’ self-assessment on their transferable skills development showed that foreign language skills were not well improved, which is principally one of the most necessities in the job market. As a result, according to the opinions of the students it can be said that practical education and internship opportunities of the department make the biggest contribution to the profession. Nevertheless, after graduation, they feel that they might meet some challenges in the job market such as job shortages and tendency to lowering rates in the wages.
