The study adopted a pre-test, post-test and control group experimental design with a 3x2 factorial matrix. The sampling techniques adopted were the simple random method where each student was given an opportunity to be selected, and randomization of experimental groups and the control group to the schools through balloting was also done. Drug abuse prevention questionnaire (DAPQ), a standardized instrument developed by Skinner (1982), with a reliability coefficient of .97 were used for data collection. A total of 40 secondary school students made up of 28 males and 12 females with ages ranging from 15-23 years took part in the study. They also had a mean age of 18.38 Three hypotheses were raised and tested. The results obtained revealed that firstly, assertiveness training and psycho-education have significant treatment effects in the prevention of drug abuse among secondary school students (F(2)= 6.88; P< 0.05 ). Secondly, sex had no significant effect on prevention of drug abuse F(1)= 0.32; P> 0.05 and thirdly, there was also no statistically significant interaction effects on drug abuse among secondary school students F(2)= 0.82; P> 0.05. Therefore, it is recommended that high premium is placed on developing and mainstreaming prevention programs on drug abuse into the school curriculum in secondary schools for students to become more assertive and acquire more knowledge on drugs and its effects on mental health.","PeriodicalId":302903,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Management & Social Sciences (ISSN 2455-2267)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125224319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

TASK has been introduced in the four-year-old state of Telangana to find the need to promote academic freedom in producing skilled professionals. In the process of developing innovative schemes to fill the gap between HEIs (Higher Education Institutes) and industries, the state of Telangana, India, has started TASK (Telangana Association for Skill and Knowledge) in the year 2015. TASK is a non-profit organization with an objective of offering quality human resources and services to the industry at subsidized rates. Courses are created by experts according to the requirements of the industry. These courses are focused to create skilled professionals who can contribute to the industry. For example, when Samsung needed employees trained in Tizen programming, TASK could train and supply the required immediately. TASK enables graduate retention (by avoiding brain drain particularly to the developed countries) and quality attractiveness of local employment. This impacted the conditions of cultivation, particularly in rural living conditions. The impact of free trade brought unstable prices, difficulties in agriculture export and import and which is affected farmer’s welfare, livelihood, and other employment alternatives. The most adverse effect that has become a curse to farmers is the multiple of low price and instability in the output of cash crops. Andhra Pradesh mostly depends on rainfall agriculture. Monsoon and seasonal conditions play a crucial role in Andhra Pradesh agriculture. The proportion of area under agriculture is 37.30 percent (including fish ponds). A person who avails/consumes the services in exchange of the consideration is a consumer according to the given definition of consumer under Consumer Protection Act, 1986. This definition never includes any commercial activities or any re-sale or without fee transaction. We on daily basis face various MRP related issues, poor quality of products, adulteration, no bill issues and many more. Some of us raise a voice against these unfair practices but number of us always keep silence and take everything so easy. The reason behind this may be nobody has time or knowledge, when and where to proceed. The right of consumer protection only needs the awareness; awareness about the provisions, process, forums and a fair counselling. Though government has initiated number of awareness schemes which includes the advertisements on television, newspapers and in magazines, skits, workshops and various poster making competitions, still the consumer exploitation continues. In this research paper by using an empirical and doctrinal technique of research the researcher wants to highlight the area where the law is lacking its enforcement to protect the interest of the consumer. It is generally measured in the consumer price index (CPI) or retail price index (RPI). Inflation reduces the purchasing power of a country's currency, as we need more units of currency over time to buy the same goods and services. The current empirical paper entitled “relationship between inflation and stock market evidence from selected global stock markets” have been undertaken with an intention to investigate the relationship between inflation and stock returns of the chosen economies. In order to realize the stated objectives, the researchers have collected the monthly data 2000 to 2017 for selected indices. In the first phase, log returns were computed and it has been tested for the existence of unit root in the distribution. In the second phase, we ran Pearson correlation coefficient for the collected data to find out the association between the inflation and stock returns. Majority of the chosen indices recorded a negative coefficient with the dependent variable. For India, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, China, France, Ireland we found a negative coefficient. However, Brazil Indonesia, Japanese, Mexico, Spanish and Turkey reported a positive coefficient. Current study clearly throws light on the effect of inflation on the stock market returns, therefore; it can help the market participants such as traders, fund managers, and investors to make good portfolio decisions based on the information about expected inflation and unexpected inflation. The study confirms that there exists a significant relationship between the stock returns and inflation for Australian, Belgium, Canadian, Chilean, Chinese, French and Irish stock benchmark indices. Firms can take this one has a clue to adjust their reported profits by raising the prices. The policymakers can employ contractionary policy to reduce the supply of money by offering a low interest rate on t bills, increasing the interest rates (bank rate policy) and increasing the cash reserve ratios which in turn reduces the lending capacity of the banks.","PeriodicalId":302903,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Management & Social Sciences (ISSN 2455-2267)","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125101876","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Achieving Economic Independence for women has been at the core of vision for gender equality across the globe. India is a male dominant society and traditionally jobs were meant for men. But as the international concern with gender relations in development has strengthened the affirmation that equality in the status of men and women is fundamental to every society, modern Indian Society has witnessed a gradual change in the status of women. The emergence of the new economic environment, the establishment of the new political system and the spread of modern education and ideologies among the people, found expression in the liberation of the Indian women from the traditional forms of social subordination and suppression from which they suffered for centuries. As of nowadays, no community cannot deny the role women have played in the progress of a community, changes have taken place in the attitudes of the people towards their women. Economic independence was considered as one of the powerful routes to economic empowerment and thereby to gender equality. In modern Indian society notion of women’s participation in employment for their empowerment is widely identified. In this direction this research article has tried to trace the recent trends in the attitudes of Indians towards economic independence of the women. This article tried to give answer for some questions like- whether community as a whole had favorable attitude towards economic independence of women? Is really women empowerment is possible? Is there actually people felt the necessity of it? etc.","PeriodicalId":302903,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Management & Social Sciences (ISSN 2455-2267)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126771968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
