The proposed method combines wall clutter mitigation and scene reconstruction in a unified framework using multitask Bayesian compressed sensing. First, the radar signals are jointly recovered using Bayesian compressed sensing in the wavelet domain. Then, a subspace projection method is employed to mitigate the front wall reflections. This is followed by principal component analysis, which is used to compress the remaining wavelet coefficients and remove noise. A linear model is developed which relates the compressed wavelet coefficients directly to the image of the scene. For scene reconstruction, multitask Bayesian compressed sensing is further applied to simultaneously form the images associated with all polarimetric channels. Experimental results based on real radar data demonstrate that the proposed method improves image quality by enhancing target reflections and attenuating background clutter.","PeriodicalId":301856,"journal":{"name":"2014 19th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"199 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122530817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One such challenge is the interpretation of the verification results in terms of probability. The output of the existing speaker verification is a ratio between two likelihood values and hence does not have a very meaningful representation. In this paper, we introduce a method which outputs a posterior probability function, such that given the evidence, the probability it came from a certain suspect can be calculated. Another key challenge in forensic evidence evaluation is the practical difficulty in recreating the evidence environment in order to obtain the training voice samples from the suspect. For this we propose a novel approach based on the Baysean probability framework, which uses a pre-computed Universal Background Model (UBM). The speaker verification system is built around Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) for feature extraction and Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM) for speaker modeling. The optimum values for different parameters of these techniques are found experimentally. Our results demonstrate that a model with 32 mixtures and a dimension of size 13 gives the best performance, as a trade-off between the accuracy and the computational efficiency.","PeriodicalId":301856,"journal":{"name":"2014 19th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127675456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each of the cosines represent a peak in the reconstructed tomogram. We consider a truncated cosine series representation of the signal, with the constraint that the coefficients in the basis expansion be sparse. An £2 (sum of squared errors) data error is considered with an £ (summation of absolute values) constraint on the coefficients. The optimization problem is solved using Weiszfeld's iteratively reweighted least squares (IRLS) algorithm. On real FDOCT data, improved results are obtained over the standard reconstruction technique with lower levels of background measurement noise and artifacts due to a strong £1 penalty. The previous sparse tomogram reconstruction techniques in the literature proposed collecting sparse samples, necessitating a change in the data capturing process conventionally used in FDOCT. The IRLS-based method proposed in this paper does not suffer from this drawback.","PeriodicalId":301856,"journal":{"name":"2014 19th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"407 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134289166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a set of measures for the quality of network partitions, with modularity as a special case. We present an algorithm based on the set of measures and iterative optimization to detect the sybil region. The algorithm is evaluated using a subset of real-world social topology and is confirmed to be efficient for solving the problem. Moreover, a comparison between the proposed algorithm and SybilDefender is provided, which shows that the proposed algorithm is superior for the sybil region detection problem in directed social networks.","PeriodicalId":301856,"journal":{"name":"2014 19th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"201 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134409951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In detail, two QRAB algorithms are presented by adopting the well-known criterions of worst-case performance optimization and principal eigenspace projection. The former one formulates the augmented steering vector as belonging to a quaternion-valued uncertainty set and then involves a constrained optimization problem, which can be transformed into a solvable real-valued convex form; while the latter one just needs to apply the quaternionic eigenvalue decomposition (QEVD) to the augmented covariance matrix with reduced computational complexity. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed schemes and show their superior performance as compared to the conventional QRAB schemes.","PeriodicalId":301856,"journal":{"name":"2014 19th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116233025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ISR system, in turn, is a part of a larger System of Systems (SoS) consisting of aerial, manned, etc. surveillance systems and information collection centers. The smart sensors of the ISR system perform environment monitoring using different modalities and exchange object detection and identification results to assess the situation and provide other SoS components with this information. In the paper we discuss using acoustic, magnetic and Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor information for target detection and identification. We also propose an approach of distributed acoustic source localization and a method of velocity estimation using PIR data. For sensor communication an asynchronous ad-hoc WSN configuration is proposed. Through analyzing the characteristics of video data transfer, we customize four shared channels with block address-conversion algorithm to adapt to many regular memory-access patterns. Furthermore, in order to transfer plenty of macro blocks whose addresses are not consecutive, channel descriptor model is applied into the design, which provides the most flexibility in managing the system's transfers. Besides, the design can also perform boundary extension, priority arbitrage and parameter prefetching as well as data rearrangement process. The proposed design is implemented in H.264/RVC encoder chip by SMIC 65nm technology with a clock frequency of 250MHz and 23.6K equivalent logic gates. Experimental results show that the customized design performs around 2~4 times faster than traditional DMA controller, and the lower ratio of setting time to transfer time proves that the burden of the processor is reduced significantly.","PeriodicalId":301856,"journal":{"name":"2014 19th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"577 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122764016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Successful approaches to perceptual picture coding are classified as perceptual predictive coding, perceptual quantization, rate-perceptual-distortion optimization (RpDO) and perception-based pre-, loop- and post-filtering. This contribution analyzes and examines the performance and tradeoffs of representative perceptual as well as traditional waveform based picture coding methods in terms of their effectiveness in quality constrained coding and RpDO criterion in the context of visual quality controlled or regulated visual communication, broadcasting, entertainment and consumer electronic products, systems and services or applications. Fundamental flaws of performance benchmarking using a rate-driven coding strategy are interrogated for visual quality assured services or user experience. It is revealed that while existing perceptual distortion measures (PDMs) successfully grade distortions corresponding to HVS (human visual system) perception, their quantitative correspondence, or lack of it, to discernible levels by human visual perception in terms of just-not-noticeable-difference (JNND), just-noticeable-difference level 1 (JND1), JND level 2 (JND2), etc. has not been thoroughly investigated nor established, and this motivates the related initial work reported in this paper. Issues and constraints of existing picture coding standards are discussed in the context of developing a future picture coding standard framework for constant visual picture quality systems and services.","PeriodicalId":301856,"journal":{"name":"2014 19th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129845203","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this regard, Zubair et al. showed the use of sparse coefficients along with SVM to classify audio signals as music or speech to get a near-perfect classification. In the proposed method, we go one step further, instead of using the sparse coefficients with another classifier they are directly used in a dictionary which is learned using on-line dictionary learning for music-speech classification. This approach removes the redundancy of using a separate classifier but also produces complete discrimination of music and speech on the GTZAN music/speech dataset. Moreover, instead of the high-dimensional feature vector space which inherently leads to high computation time and complicated decision boundary calculation on the part of SVM, the restricted dictionary size with limited computation serves the same purpose.","PeriodicalId":301856,"journal":{"name":"2014 19th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130947791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Graph-based energy minimization has proven to be a powerful framework for incorporating global constraints with local matching costs. In this work, dense stereo correspondence is cast as multilabel energy minimization problem, which is then solved using MQPBO method [1]. We believe the ability of MQPBO to compute the approximate solution with all labels at once has the potential to avoid local optima that may occur in iterative methods. Furthermore, by using QPBO-based technique, the class of energy functions that can be minimized is not limited to being submodular thus our approach is independent of matching costs and smoothness priors. We have tested our postulate with different combinations of cost functions and our experiment has shown encouraging results in various settings.","PeriodicalId":301856,"journal":{"name":"2014 19th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121097312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
