Particularly, I analyze how local cartographic imagination is conveyed through true oral maps in which the territory condenses notions regarding history, geography, myths and cultural practices. The inquiry, triggered as a consequence of ethnographic attempts to make a map with local dwellers, attempts to examine the way in which memory unfolds in the territory, as well as to reflect on the methodological reformulations that the cartographic co-construction process entailed.","PeriodicalId":30160,"journal":{"name":"Runa","volume":"35 1","pages":"77-92"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69794055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In which circumstances and at what level do these differences present themselves? Why do some rituals change radically and others do not? Where do these changes come from and what is it that makes them possible, what drives them? And, at the same time, we must ask ourselves about their semiotic orientation and direction. Our comparative analysis of old and new rituals reveals differences in four separate orders in which we would like to study in depth. According to our hypothesis, there have been transformations between old and modern rituals in the dimensions of shapes, the rigidness of norms, the limits of the scenario and the sphere of communication. This analysis will allow us to classify the ritual changes in the intra-ritual changes, inter-ritual changes and trans-ritual","PeriodicalId":30160,"journal":{"name":"Runa","volume":"35 1","pages":"5-21"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69793694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This analysis involves looking into the impact of the problematization of the criminal appropriation of children in our country as a result of the work of the Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo in searching for their grandchildren, kidnapped during Argentina’s last military dictatorship (1976-1983).The emergence of these organizations of “adoptees” in the early 2000’s redefined the meanings associated at the moment to the “right to identity”. The way these organizations use the terms “biological”, “original”, and “true” to characterize “identity” points to the meaning, definition and precision of their problematic, which is both different and similar to Abuelas’.","PeriodicalId":30160,"journal":{"name":"Runa","volume":"35 1","pages":"61-76"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69793997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their contrasting academic proposals were linked to political positions, which in turn impacted the way of imagining the development of Peruvian archaeology. The article analyzes how the interdependence in the characterizations of Uhle and Tello led to the formation of a mirrored logic, placing them in two poles that condense positive and negative assessments, respectively. Finally, we explore the passage from the opposition of both figures to the construction of exclusive and nationality-dependent ways of doing research.","PeriodicalId":30160,"journal":{"name":"Runa","volume":"34 1","pages":"197-214"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69794037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a comparative perspective with other provinces, it provides a contextual overview of indigenous policy in Argentina. From the methodological point of view, the paper shows some trends through the development of local specific cases, but in a dialogue with situations affecting all the national territory, for example, the delay in its surveying following the provisions of Law 26160. The work also focuses on the emergence of new ethno-political struggles and reconfigurations in both, highlands and lowlands. The main limitations of the indigenous policy shows its most painful aspect in the indigenous children malnutrition, related to the problem of the territories and the tree clearing, to which some court decisions refer to. We conclude that structural situations, which delay the real guarantees of indigenous collective rights, combine with the emergence of profound changes.","PeriodicalId":30160,"journal":{"name":"Runa","volume":"34 1","pages":"59-71"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69793350","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on an ethnography in a palliative care setting in Buenos Aires, the paper addresses the uncertainty surrounding the disclosure of terminal prognosis, analysing the actors involved in the communication process and the ways in which the terminal prognosis are estimated. The division of labor between oncologists and palliative care specialists, professional traditions on disclosing information, and the gradual way in which palliative care professionals reveal the information, contribute to produce ambiguity and uncertainty in terminal prognosis. Usually attributed to individual responses to an impending death, uncertainty and hope are presented here as social and interactional products.","PeriodicalId":30160,"journal":{"name":"Runa","volume":"34 1","pages":"113-132"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69793492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, attention is paid to representations of socially relegated people, who are not the producers of media representations. Thus, the question of power is crucial in the setting of a fundamentally asymmetrical relationship: owners of representational production resources construct and present images and narratives of actors who do not possess these resources. Through the study of three cases, the article describes specific rhetorics that capture and aestheticize otherness in contemporary Argentina, framed in a realistic media format where the enunciation position is blurred. This element reinforces the symbolic construction of borders, through a mechanism that naturalizes and legitimizes inequality.","PeriodicalId":30160,"journal":{"name":"Runa","volume":"10 1","pages":"149-162"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69793827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
