Bien que la supercherie ait ete demasquee, la date de realisation, le contexte de realisation et l’auteur de cette copie sont restes inconnus. L’etude de l’œuvre par le biais de methodes d’imagerie et d’analyse scientifique paraissait un moyen de fournir des elements de reponse a ces questions. Les resultats obtenus dans le cadre de cette etude ont en effet permis de determiner que la presente copie ne pouvait pas etre anterieure a 1945. After several experiences with a specific version of the method, Valerio Garofalo’s research thesis helped the standardisation of lining procedures aiming to obtain predictable, reproducible results. This was achieved through the production of a large quantity of mock-up painting linings and samples for peel tests. The bond created with a viscoelastic adhesive appears stronger with high speed testing, if compared with the same at a lower speed, but literature shows high variability of peel speeds. Preliminary tests with different speeds for Plextol B500 allowed to compare results with literature data. Par leur valeur historique, la conservation de tels specimens merite des soins particuliers et leur restauration demeure une entreprise delicate. Ils sont souvent fragiles en raison de la nature des materiaux utilises et de leur etat de degradation avance. Leurs conditions de conservation doivent faire l’objet d’un choix reflechi afin de ralentir leur degradation. Chaque materiau ayant ses exigences specifiques, il est difficile de donner des recommandations de conservation preventive. Pour appuyer la decision, une approche basee sur la gestion des risques est developpee.
