A typical approach is based on the analysis of contour points of the objects. In many cases this task is faced by taking into account a contour subset made up by dominant points. This paper is based on a shape matching technique described in [1] by using dominant points as contour points set. In order to obtain better results we adopt modified shape descriptors (shape contexts) by getting rotational invariance. Experimental results demonstrate the accuracy improvement and the computational time reduction.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125853092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed DOA estimation formula does not employ eigendecomposition, iteration, optimization or space averaging, therefore it requires very low computational cost but achieves high resolution. Surprisingly, the present simple DOA estimator has almost the same accuracy with (and sometimes better than) major conventional DOA estimation algorithms. The estimation accuracy and the computational cost are evaluated through computer simulation in comparison with those by some major conventional algorithms.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"158 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116114359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed framework first locates the motion patterns (MP) in each frame. By analyzing these located motion patterns with the proposed MP-analysis algorithm, the periodical sports activities can be effectively detected and counted. Furthermore, the qualified and unqualified actions can also be efficiently differentiated. Experimental results on various sports videos including dumbbell and weightlifting demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed framework.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122321782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article designs six round templates of different frequencies. At first in this paper seal image is transformed from Cartesian coordinate system to polar coordinate system, and in the polar coordinate system it uses round templates to do convolutions independently with reserved seals and ones to be verified, and then it devises a function by convolution results. Optimum registration angle can be gained by minimization of the function. Experiments show that this method is satisfied and it can be applied into practical situation.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"376 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122862690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, we use the grayscale iteration threshold algorithm to segment the image; secondly, mathematical morphology operation is used to extract edge of the corresponding binary image; at last, we detect the corners through the CSS corner detector. The proposed method was evaluated over the escape wheel image. We compared the proposed method to other corner detector method, and the results showed that the proposed method offers a fast and effective solution.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114273784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this way, our algorithm naturally overcomes the difficulty in defining parent-child relationships for wavelet-based contourlet packets subbands, which exists in the zerotree based methods. The main merit of the proposed method is that the contourlet transform can provide optimally sparse representation of objects with singularities along c2 edges and the wavelet-based contourlet packets (WBCP) can decompose the high frequency parts of the images which are not decomposed in discrete wavelet transform. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm significantly outperforms SPIHT and JPEG2000 schemes and also surpasses recent WBCP based image coding algorithms, in terms of both PSNR and visual quality.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129520920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
