{"title":"A Study on ESG Evaluation Factors of Social Enterprises: Based on K-ESG","authors":"Jong-Il Choe","doi":"10.46396/kjem..96.4","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46396/kjem..96.4","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose: In order to take into account the importance of the IT services industry related to the 4th industrialrevolution and to supplement the limitations of the export/import analysis based on gross export statistics, weattempted to analyze the status and features of the value-added export network of IT services industry. Through thetrade network analysis, we suggest the necessity of policies to foster the IT service industry and provide policyrecommendations for industrial development. \u0000Research design, data, and methodology: This study uses the 2005 and 2014 World Input-Output Table (WIOT) todecompose gross exports into value-added exports according to gross exports decomposition methodology. We thenobtain the world trade matrix based on the domestic value-added statistics. By applying network analysismethodology to the world trade matrix, the characteristics and changes of the global value-added trade in IT servicesindustry were identified through centrality analysis and core-periphery analysis. In addition, this study identified thestatus of Korea and Japan’s IT services industry in the world value-added trade network. \u0000Results: The countries with the greatest influence in terms of domestic value-added exports in the IT services industryare the European Union (EU), the United States (USA), the United Kingdom (GBR), Canada (CAN), and India (IND). Incontrast to the IT manufacturing industry, where Korea, Japan, and China were among the core countries, Korea,Japan, and China were not among the core countries and remain as peripheral countries in the IT services industry. The ratio of domestic value-added exports to gross exports in Korea’s IT services industry is lower than that of theEU, USA, Japan, and China, and the ratio of foreign value-added exports to gross exports is higher than that of theUSA, Japan, and China. This fact can be seen as a structure in which Korea’s IT services firms import and inputintermediate goods from abroad and then export the processed final goods to the global market. \u0000Implications: Since the early 2,000s, Korea’s IT industry’s production and exports have grown significantly in volume, and its influence has been greatly strengthened in the global IT market. However, the strengthening of Korea’s influence on the global trade in the IT industry is mainly due to the growth of IT manufacturing industry, and the competitiveness imbalance between IT manufacturing and IT services industry is very severe. Therefore, it is necessary to take measures to strengthen the competitiveness of Korea’s IT services industry. First, it is necessary to overcome the foreign value-added import - processing production structure and strengthen value-added production capacity by investing in the improvement of human capital and technology in the IT services and software fields. The Japanese insurance industry is divided into two marketssuch as life and non-life insurance to review the current status and trends of each market such as premiums,products, channels, and companies, and regulations. And major issues and environmental trends of the Japaneseinsurance industry are analyzed to derive lessons for domestic insurance industry. \u0000Research design, data, and methodology: We adopted a case study method utilizing statistical data analysis andliterature review to analyze Japanese insurance Industry such as premiums, products, channels, and companies. Andmajor issues and environmental trends of the Japanese insurance industry are also analyzed to compare domesticinsurance industry. We combined the research experiences, ideas, and wisdom of wide rane of insurance literatures. \u0000Results: This research results are as follows. First, Japanese insurance industry has develped various new products inresponse to customer demand changes. Second, Japanese insurers have tried to seek gloal strategy to expand theirprofit and market share. Third, new management strategies such as product development, new profit area diversity,overseas expansion, should be taken into account in order to systematically respond to social changes. \u0000Implications: The insurance industry in Japan has shown interesting phenomena since 1995 such as population agingand bubble collision. They have affected insurance demands in several ways. It is not only important for universities to attract as many newstudents as possible to their school but also to retain the students that are currently enrolled. Despite its importance,little is known about how universities can stay competitive in keeping their student enrollment rate consistent. Students’ attachment level towards their university and their satisfaction level with the service offered by the schoolare some of the factors that are important in improving students’ evaluation of the service received by students. Moreover, it is critical to understand the antecedents to these outcomes to devise strategies in maximizing students’attachment and satisfaction level. Based on this background, this research intends to understand the role of universitystudents’ perceived educational service quality of the service provided by the school they are current enrolled inshaping their attachment level towards the school and their satisfaction level. Moreover, the influence of attachmentlevel on students’ satisfaction level will be examined. \u0000Research design, data, and methodology: A quantitative approach was applied to address the research objective ofthis study. Questionnaires were distributed to students currently enrolled in the College of Commerce and Economicsof D university in Busan. A total of 228 questionnaires were returned and 211 questionnaires were used for analysis. SPSS and AMOS statistical packages were used for analysis to test the hypothesized model. \u0000Results: The findings of this research can be summarized as the following. First, out of the educational service qualitydimensions, instruction, educational program, and administrative service qualities positively influence students’satisfaction level. Second, the quality of instruction and educational program positively affect students’ attachmentlevel towards the university. Last, students’ attachment level positively impacts their satisfaction level. \u0000Implications: This research attempted to understand the influence of students’ perceived educational service quality ofthe university they are enrolled in determining their attachment and their satisfaction level. {"title":"The Effect of the Perceived Justice of the Performance-Based Annual Salary System on Organizational Effectiveness","authors":"Seong-Chul Kim, DaeWoon Cha","doi":"10.46396/kjem..96.6","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46396/kjem..96.6","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the influence of organizational justice in the relationship betweenperformance based annual salary and organizational effectiveness using 269 usable questionnaires gathered fromemployees who work in Korea. \u0000Research design, data, and methodology: Firstly, exploratory factor analysis was used to assess the validity andreliability of measurement scales. Secondly, Pearson correlation analysis and descriptive statistics were conducted todetermine the collinearity problem, further confirm the validity and reliability of constructs and thus test researchhypotheses. Multiple regression analysis and Dummy regression were used to assess the magnitude and direction ofeach independent variable, and vary the mediating variable in the relationship between many independent variablesand two dependent variables. \u0000Results: Mutiple Regression analysis showed two important findings: First, performance based annual salary significantlycorrelated with job satisfaction. Second, linking performance based annual salary to organizational justice significantlycorrelated with organizational effectiveness. Statistically, this result demonstrates that organizational justice does act asa partial mediating variable in the relationship between performance based annual salary and organizational effectivenessin the studied organizations. \u0000Implications: The implications of this study can be divided into three categories: theoretical contribution, robustness ofresearch methodology, and practical contribution. In terms of theoretical contribution, the findings of this studyhighlight three major issues: firstly, Operation of performance based annual salary partially affects “procedural justice”. Secondly, Structure of performance-Based Annual Salary strongly affects “distributive justice”. Thirdly, organizationaljustice(Procedural Justice and Distributive Justice) affect organizational effectiveness. Increasing the proportion of real estate indirect investment will be a way to solve the problem of lowreturns on retirement pensions in Korea. \u0000Research design, data, and methodology: In order to conduct the study, first of all, based on Markowitz’s portfoliotheory, the correlation between representative index (benchmark index) by asset and indirect investment products ofreal estate that can be selected in domestic retirement pension was analyzed. After that, Optimal portfolio wasderived by simulating and analyzing the portfolio consisting of representative indices and products. \u0000Results: The correlation analysis was conducted by selecting the representative index of investment assets and theindirect investments of real estate as variables showed that REITs and real estate ETFs distributed the risk ofretirement pension portfolio. And as a result of analyzing the optimal portfolio including K-Top REITs andShinhan-Alpha REITs, the standard deviation was lower and the yield was higher than that of the traditional portfoliothat does not include real estate indirect investments, so both stability and profitability were derived in positiveresults in portfolio that includes real estate indirect investments. \u0000Implications: The proportion of real estate indirect investments in the portfolio of retirement pensions should beincreased. As examined in previous studies at home and abroad and pension fund management, it was found thatthe portfolio including real estate assets has reduced risk and increased profits, and as a result of the analysis ofoptimal portfolio, high-achieving were derived from profitability and stability in the portfolio in which real estateindirect investments were incorporated.
