The antenna is matched to operate at GSM 920 MHz, WI-Fi 2.4 Ghz and HiperLan 5.1 GHz standards with low SAR levels. Return loss coefficient and radiation pattern of this antenna are computed in free space as well as in the presence of head. The specific absorption rate (SAR) of the planar antenna is calculated and compared with that of the monopole antenna. The problem is rigorously formulated by using the integral equation based on the dyadic spectral Green's function. To obtain the complex resonant frequency of mode TM01, the method of Galerkin have been used to solve the integral equation, by choosing sinusoidal basis functions. In addition, to get a wider bandwidth filters, tightly coupled lines are required, which are difficult to fabricate. On the other side a compact bandpass filter means the lowest number of sections with small size. This paper presents a technique to design a compact microstrip X-band bandpass filter using two sections and a stub to have a compact size, good sharpness on the sides, and small loss. Computation of the dispersion diagram of both metasurfaces highlights the possibility to obtain forward and backward waves, respectively. The backward waves can be achieved only at the quasi-static resonance in case of stacked CSRRs metasurfaces and provided the longitudinal lattice is small enough. The experimental results for both structures show a good agreement with the computed ones. Several advanced UWB filters are demonstrated with electromagnetic (EM) simulated and experimental results. The filters are based on a circuit model for an optimum distributed highpass filter consisting of short-circuited stubs separated by non-redundant connecting lines. It is shown that a cross-coupling between non-adjacent resonators or between the input and output (I/O) feed lines can be implemented to generate new transmission zeros which improve the performance of the stub filters. It is also demonstrated that the uniform connecting lines of the stub filter can be replaced by stepped-impedance lines to suppress the spurious harmonic passbands.
