The ACR analysis is based on IEEE 802.11a standard at 5.8 GHz frequency band. In early stage of any RF receiver design for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system, a system level analysis of ACR is needed prior to any CS filter design. This is important since the IEEE 802.11a uses adaptive data rates between 6 Mbps and 54 Mbps which gives different ACR level for CS filter. Hence, ACR analysis can determine out-of-band attenuation level of CS filter for RF superheterodyne receiver. This analysis is performed in a simulation software. As result, it shows that higher out-of-band attenuation level is required in CS filter for low data rate (e.g. 6 Mbps) compared to high data rate (e.g. 54 Mbps). Thus, the 30 dB attenuation level at adjacent channels in the CS filter is suggested for the RF superheterodyne receiver in order to meet ACR performance based on IEEE 802.11a standard.","PeriodicalId":299947,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development (SCOReD)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124057540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fractal dimensional features were extracted in order to measure the complexity of temporal dynamics and response onset of auditory evoked potentials of normal hearing and abnormal hearing persons. This study identified a significant potential difference between fractal dimensional values of the normal hearing and abnormal hearing person. The extracted fractal features were then associated to the hearing threshold perception and a neural network model for left and right ears were developed. The classification results in discriminating the left and right ear of normal and abnormal person was reported as 90% and 95% with specificity of 90%, sensitivity of 100%. Since the results were promising, it can be safely adopted in screening the hearing threshold level of a person in clinics.","PeriodicalId":299947,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development (SCOReD)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127323114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research used simulation signals in to improve the performance of detection and classification of FSR micro-sensor network. Several parameters of carrier frequency and size of target were analyzed. In addition, the conditions of the ground considered in this research are concrete dry, average and wet ground. The simulation results are obtained by using Mathlab software. The obtained results show the stability and similarity of target spectra when the conductivity and permittivity of different ground exists. From the results, a database and estimation of system performance can be drawn as a guideline for future works.","PeriodicalId":299947,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development (SCOReD)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123324465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This emerging trend has motivated the academic and industrial world for new research area, which leads to green networks. In this paper, we provide a brief overview on those studies with an emphasis on introducing some energy efficiency metrics in HetNets such as Energy Consumption Ratio (ECR) and Energy Saving (ES). Since these metrics provide quantified information to compare and assess the efficiency of consumed energy, understanding those metrics can yield insight into the potential energy saving in HetNets. Furthermore, the assessment of potential energy conservation of both energy efficiency metrics will be carried out in different deployment strategies such as macro-micro, macro-relay and micro-relay. The obtained numerical results show that the macro-relay deployment strategy is much energy efficient compared to macro-micro and micro-relay. Therefore, it is concluded that the energy efficiency metrics can be the key measurement for the energy consumption in HetNets.","PeriodicalId":299947,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development (SCOReD)","volume":"307 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122803080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results of the fat measurement from this non invasive method were then compared to the results of fat measurement using a proven method. The Soxhlet method is a standard fat measurement procedure recommended by the Association of Official Analytical Chemist (AOAC). The samples used in this investigation are chicken, meat and fish fillets. The experimental results showed that there is correlation between fat content and the measured ultrasound velocity travelled in the sample. This indicates that fat measurement using the ultrasound A-Mode scan technique can be used to determine fat content in fillet with reasonable accuracy.","PeriodicalId":299947,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development (SCOReD)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129218149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A computer model of the memristor would be a useful tool to analysis circuit behavior to help in develops application of this memristor as passive circuit element via simulation. In this paper, we incorporate a SPICE model of memristor for designing practical analog circuit for nonlinear dopant drift. SPICE model would be appropriate way to describe real device operation. Various window functions has been proposed in non linear ion drift memristor devices. In investigating and characterizing the physical electronic and behavioral properties of memristor devices, the circuit analysis of the proposed memristor models are then been studied. The simulation output should have a current-voltage hysteresis curve, which looks like bow tie. The loops map the switching behavior of the device. Then, we come out with a simple practical analog circuit which in this case we construct a simple integrator circuit and make comparison of these memristor implemented circuit design between different type of memristor models. The research verifies the proposed memristor model and the possibilities of implementing memristor model in practical analog circuit.","PeriodicalId":299947,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development (SCOReD)","volume":"148 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133836742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under high data rate, i.e. 100 Gbps, and ultra-long haul distance, the effects of FWM can limit the system performance significantly. In this paper, we have analyzed and evaluated the system performance tolerance to FWM under the impact of effective area variation. The study was conducted in the presence of normal Non-Return-Zero (NRZ) and Return-Zero (RZ) intensity modulation. In addition, the tuning of effective area on FWM has been done with both types of modulation format. It is found that the RZ modulation introduces minimum FWM power up to -79.5dBm at 80μm2 effective area, while NRZ offers maximum FWM power less than -74 dBm at the same effective area. In the case of system performance with the effective area variation at 80μm2, the BER is 1.99×10-92 at received power of -5.809 dBm in normal RZ modulation. However, in the presence of NRZ modulation format the BER was found to be less than 8.49-10-21 at -10.77 dBm received powers. Overall, the result indicates that RZ modulation is the suitable choice for high speed transmission distance and optimum bit-error-rate.","PeriodicalId":299947,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development (SCOReD)","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117316111","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
