This white space device as a secondary user (SU) must not cause damaging interference to an incumbent primary user(PU) such as the ISDB-T digital TV service and even to an existing Analog TV Broadcast. To ensure interference-free coexistence, a keep-out distance, dK, between the white space device (WSD) transmitter and the PU within the licensed TV service contour should be strictly observed. However, it is important that this dK must neither be overestimated nor underestimated. In this paper, co-channel dK between IEEE S02.11af and the ISDB – T DTV and Analog service contours using primarily ITU-R P.1546-6 and ITU–R P.1411-9 recommendations was computed and compared for the eleven analog and digital channels operating in Cebu province, Philippines. Experimental tests conducted show that analog and digital TV broadcast channels are aptly protected from co-channel interference emanating from IEEE 802.11af secondary white space devices operating within its service contour. Interestingly, the study also shows that a pair of IEEE 802.11af devices can establish connectivity within the ITU-R P.1546-based keep-out distance without causing interference to ATV and DTV services.","PeriodicalId":299827,"journal":{"name":"2021 24th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133849855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On-road EVs charging is also possible by the wireless power transfer method, known as dynamic charging. Most of the dynamic charging infrastructure was developed by the Inductive Power Transfer (IPT) method and applied in EVs. But the difficulty of this method is high cost and more eddy current losses due to inductive coils. Hence, to reduce the cost of the on-road charging system, a high power capacitive dynamic charging system is proposed to promote the Capacitive Power Transfer (CPT) method in Ev’s dynamic charging applications. This research article mainly focuses on capacitive aluminum plate design and comparative analysis for three different coupler arrangements. The mutual capacitance of the capacitive coupler is directly relative to the system’s output power, which is the main statement of this article. The ANSYS Maxwell simulation determines the mutual capacitance and self-capacitances for the three different arrangements to find the suitable coupler arrangement. Based on the comparison of the simulated results, which arrangement has high mutual capacitance is selected for further EVs on-road wireless charging development.","PeriodicalId":299827,"journal":{"name":"2021 24th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114827770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is necessary to get the accurate indoor location, since we cannot rely on the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) in indoor environments. This paper employs the automatic guided vehicle (AGV) using robot operating systems (ROS) to get the location information. The local-5G user equipment (UE) is installed on the AGV. The Ubuntu PC also installed on the AGV associates the location information with the wireless performance, and visualizes it in real time, and outputs in the log file. By employing the AGV, the performance can be obtained from the remote location. This is very useful for the local 5G data acquisition, where the performance can vary greatly due to the human body blocking. We performed the evaluation in the Kagawa university and showed the effectiveness of our measurement tools.","PeriodicalId":299827,"journal":{"name":"2021 24th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117164731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The growth on user subscriptions and the advances introduced by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), greatly enhanced the complexity and potential of communication networks. The increase on variety of devices and exchanged mobile data traffic resulted in demanding requirements for the network providers. As networks tend to scale and data to increase, some problems start to arise. Traffic congestion, packet loss and high latency being some examples. Therefore, it is important to introduce powerful tools and methods to tackle these challenges. On this perspective, several studies have highlighted AI systems, mainly Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, as the most promising methods, in the context of wireless networks, by improving the overall performance and efficiency. This work proposes to integrate several network optimization algorithms, already developed, in a common and unified visualization platform. These algorithms were developed in C# and Python and some of them use supervised and unsupervised ML techniques. The proposed solution includes multi-threading processes to deal with concurrent simulations, a proxy to communicate between platforms and a dynamic visual interface.","PeriodicalId":299827,"journal":{"name":"2021 24th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114969707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In DSA, secondary users (SUs) are allowed to exploit the whitespace of the primary users (PUs) on an instant-by-instant basis. The goal is to improve the system’s spectral utilization efficiency in a manner that limits the interference from SUs to PUs. To this end, in this paper, we proposed an usage aware spectrum access scheme by exploiting deep reinforcement learning. We evaluated its performance by extensive simulations, and validate the superiority of the proposed scheme by comparing it with existing methods.","PeriodicalId":299827,"journal":{"name":"2021 24th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126401908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approach is based on a wireless steganography, where DFT-s-OFDM signals are used as cover signals and secret information is embedded in the OFDM signals, which are superposed with the cover signals. We theoretically analyze the performance of unintended receiver, which attempts to detect the existence of the embedded signal by the power or moment detector, in terms of its detection probability. We also study the bit error rate achieved by a legitimate receiver through computer simulations.","PeriodicalId":299827,"journal":{"name":"2021 24th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"40 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114036183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

System verification on a testbed is required to deploy IoT applications in production environments. In a testbed system, round-trip times (RTT) between servers and wireless base stations vary according to the locations of the servers and the wireless base stations in a network. When the server to place a Docker container running a test server program is determined, the RTT between the server and the wireless base station must be ensured to satisfy a target application’s response time requirement. However, existing testbed systems have no mechanism for ensuring the RTT between servers and wireless base stations. A testbed user must manually determine a server to place a Docker container. Furthermore, the determination involves a large amount of configuration data including RTTs between all pairs of servers and wireless base stations. In this paper, we present an edge computing testbed system that automatically determines which servers to place Docker containers on according to the testbed users’ preferred RTTs between the servers and the wireless base stations. The proposed system reduces the configuration data size to one divided by the number of servers.","PeriodicalId":299827,"journal":{"name":"2021 24th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127748061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed non-orthogonal multiple access assigns multiple frequency resources for each device to send their packet. Even if the number of the devices is more than the frequency resources, the proposed non-orthogonal access allows all the devices to transmit their packets simultaneously for high capacity massive machine type communication (mMTC). Furthermore, this paper proposes adaptive resource allocation based on factor graphs that adaptively allocates the frequency resources to the devices for improvement of the transmission performances. This paper proposes two allocation criteria for the proposed adaptive allocation. This paper shows that the proposed non-orthogonal multiple access achieves superior transmission performance in 4path Rayleigh fading channel with overloading ratio of 1.5, even without the adaptive resource allocation. The adaptive resource allocation enables the proposed non-orthogonal access to attain a gain of about 5 dB at the BER of $10^{-4}$.","PeriodicalId":299827,"journal":{"name":"2021 24th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131582528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, we focus on variable rate multi-pulse pulse position modulation (VR-MPPM), which achieves high spectral efficiency, and propose a method to improve the average spectral efficiency of VR-MPPM based on the normalized perceived light. We evaluate the average spectral efficiency and symbol error rate based on the normalized perceived light from theoretical analysis. This study investigates the system capacity of millimeter-wave (mmWave) and terahertz (THz) broadband communications considering delayed waves and radiation patterns, as well as the molecular absorption and rain attenuation. In our performance evaluation, single-carrier with frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) is adopted as a practical transmission method for extremely high-frequency bands, and the 3GPP technical report (TR) 38.901 is used as the channel and antenna model to evaluate the impact of delay spread and radiation pattern.
