This study focuses on the development of an integrated system for robotics, navigation, and planning assistance using an image-guided robot system for skull-base drilling. The mechanism is effective in providing access to neurosurgical interventions; for ex-ample, in the case of tumor resection. The motivation for this study is to identify how surgeons can use robots to maintain and improve safety and prevent accidental damage to critical neurovascular struc-tures that might occur during the drilling process. Data obtained from a systematic and formative review of existing research, as well as evaluation of current experimental studies, will be used to determine the effectiveness and success rate of image-guided robotic surgery.","PeriodicalId":299081,"journal":{"name":"Surgery: Current Trends and Innovations","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124434428","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to see if orthopaedic surgeons in Kuwait know the current guidelines and evidence-based practice. The study also aimed to investigate if demography, background, experience as well as sub specialty among orthopaedic surgeons can influence their usage of surgical drains. In addition, to assess their adherence to the interna- tional recommendations for the use of surgical drains. Method: An electronic survey was constructed, based on the current evidence from the literature provided by high-level institutions/orga nizations and Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) sources. Including evidence from the WHO, CDC and Cochrane reviews. The survey was sent to all orthopedic surgeons in Kuwait (Total of 116), 73 par - ticipants responded (63% response rate). In addition the questions also surveyed demographic data regarding subspecialty and techni - cal habits of use. Results: The survey included a total of 73 orthopedic surgeons from different hospitals and subspecialties .It contained a total of 21 questions in which 7 questions were further subdivided into 6 categories. The categories represent 6 items of the current EBM policies, aiming to address the participant’s knowledge by point scoring. A total score of 6 (maximum score) is only achieved by 1 surgeon. 4 Surgeons had a score of 0. The majority of surgeons (88%) scored between 1 and 3 points out of 6. All the secondary objectives were statistically insignificant. Conclusion: These results show that orthopedic surgeons in Ku - wait are not updated with the current evidence-based practice re garding the use of surgical drains in Orthopedic Surgery.","PeriodicalId":299081,"journal":{"name":"Surgery: Current Trends and Innovations","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125237426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The neu-ropathic mechanism is related to tissue damage, paraneoplastic Abstract An aneurysm is a localized or dilation of an artery with a diameter of at least 50% higher than the average size of an artery. Intramural internal carotid artery aneurysm is likely to occur in different locations, mostly at the intersecting point of smaller vessels, and is typically saccular. However, fusiform and blister aneurysms may also occur. The multiplicity of an aneurysm is common in patients having Internal Carotid Artery (ICA) aneurysms. For this study, the population of the fusiform aneurysm did present instances of hemorrhage; other five did present dizziness without headache while four others did present ischemia deficit and single patient with abducent nerve palsy from effects of the aneurysm. Most of the studies did indicate that the condition presents with various neurological symptoms and deeply affects quality of life.","PeriodicalId":299081,"journal":{"name":"Surgery: Current Trends and Innovations","volume":"153 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123335879","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are typical third ventricle lesions that are found on the interior end of the brain within the ventricle. When the colloid cyst affects the ventricle of the brain, it is termed as the intraventricular colloid cysts. The patient of the condition does experience headaches, which are sec-ondary to the persistent or in other cases, intermittent obstructions of the foramen monro of the brain. The obstruction of the disorder in acute hydrocephalus has been termed as the resultant cause of the sudden death among the patients. In most cases, the cell of origin is still a subject of debate; however, studies have found out that it has the endodermal background. According to the findings of this study, the colloid cyst usually presents its clinical signs and symptom among adults between the age of 40 and above. It is considered rare among people below the ages of 30, and for a patient, they do form fluctuating or in other cases, a progressive form of dementia. It, however, very lethal if not detected in a timely manner.","PeriodicalId":299081,"journal":{"name":"Surgery: Current Trends and Innovations","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130655805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the aneurysm does not show dangerous symptoms, but the severe stage can rupture that leads to life-threatening internal bleeding. Sudden severe headaches characterize an unruptured aneurysm. It is the key symptom, often described as the worst headache. Other common signs and symptoms include difficulty in speaking, loss of balance, and visual disturbances. It is vital to note that most aneurysms do not show symptoms and are not dangerous. Still, at the severe stage, some can rupture and lead to life-threatening internal bleeding.","PeriodicalId":299081,"journal":{"name":"Surgery: Current Trends and Innovations","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121386669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These mecha nisms include systemic inflammation, vascular endothelial dysfunc tion, thickening of the capillary membrane, and increased early-age arterial stiffness [20]. Diabetes type II usually leads to abnormalities in the left ventricular diastolic filling [21]. Diabetes type II is respon sible for mechanisms such as metabolic disorders, hypertension, in-terstitial fibrosis, and autonomic dysfunction resulting in congestive heart failure [10]. Vascular endothelial function is very vital in the Abstract The main aim of the research is to address the effects of diabetes II on a hypertensive thalamic hemorrhage. Its role in intracerebral bleeding has always been controversial, with co-morbidities showing a higher risk of intracerebral hemorrhage. This research hence intro-duces the topic, explores complications of the disease, then gives an analysis of hypertensive thalamic hemorrhage in relation to diabetes II. The report provides an in-depth analysis of the effects of type II diabetes on hypertensive thalamic hemorrhage, including providing co-morbidities of the disease, clinical examination of the procedures and conclusion in regards to evidence-based practices.","PeriodicalId":299081,"journal":{"name":"Surgery: Current Trends and Innovations","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123002604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
