This paper provides an integrated analysis of availability of the optical fiber network and the wireless network, in future radio over fiber systems. We present an integrated comparative analysis of network topologies for radio over fiber networks. In particular, we present results that compare different topologies such as multilevel rings and hybrid multilevel ring-stars in terms of availability. Protection schemes are also considered and results on the protected versions of the aforementioned topologies are also presented.","PeriodicalId":298995,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd ICTON Mediterranean Winter","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120937934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The digitally encoded chaotic signal is transmitted through a practical channel and recovered at the receiver. Simulation results show that despite being errors in the received bit sequence, the observer is able to synchronise and recover message signal with high accuracy provided bit error rate is < 10-4. The proposed method is compatible with the existing digital communication system and hence could be implemented in real scenario with no or little modification in the existing infrastructure.","PeriodicalId":298995,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd ICTON Mediterranean Winter","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127910211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although they have been extensively studied for the last decade, muA-level electro-pumped quantum confined lasers are still under investigation. Photonic-corral-mode quantum ring (PQR) lasers with the linewidth narrower than 0.55 generate micro-to-nano-ampere thresholds, and become ideal for CMOS-driven high-density emitter arrays for intra-chip optical interconnect as well as other applications such as displays. By using laser beam induced current technique (LBIC) technique in laser scanning microscopy (LSM) we investigated the photocurrent confinement in the laser structure. The photocurrent map gives the possibility to analyze the laser structure uniformity. The emission spectra of a PQR laser was investigated by using of microscopic optical fiber probe.","PeriodicalId":298995,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd ICTON Mediterranean Winter","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116195358","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

New compounds were studied by cyclic (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), in TBABF4 0.1 M, CH3CN or CH3CHCl2 in order to find some rules regarding the influence of substituents position versus azo groups on the redox behaviour of azulene and azo groups. These electrochemical methods allowed establishing the oxidation and reduction processes characteristic for this type of compounds. Comparisons with common azo derivatives lead to conclusions regarding the enhanced azulene electro-reactivity in respect with aromatic structures [2]. The presence of two azo groups, especially when are para orientated, increases the polarization of the molecule, fact that facilitates the electrochemical generation of radical-ions. The presence of the alkyl substituents modifies both the electron density and the planarity of the azulene moiety toward the rest of the molecule. The modification of the glassy carbon electrodes with the polyazulene films was tested in view of obtaining new electrode materials [3]. The modulation of the structure parameters lead to important changes in the polymerization process being connected to the redox potentials and concentration in the synthesis solution. The formation of substituted poly-azo-azulene films was accomplished through electrochemical oxidation by scanning or controlled potential electrolysis. Conductive or isolating films have been obtained on glassy carbon, using CH3CN or CH3CHCl2 as solvents and 0.1 M TBAP or TBABF4 as supporting electrolytes [2], starting from differently substituted bis azo azulenes.","PeriodicalId":298995,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd ICTON Mediterranean Winter","volume":"200 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124477393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
