In this paper, taking advantage of IGCT's advantages of low on-state loss, fast turn-off speed and high reliability, a topology of medium voltage hybrid DC circuit breaker with high breaking current, fast breaking speed and high reliability is proposed, which combines the quick breaking performance of high-speed switch. The optimal parameters of the topology scheme are determined by studying the influence of arc voltage, the charging voltage of capacitor, capacitance and transfer reactor on the breaking characteristics and current transfer characteristics of hybrid circuit breaker. The circuit breaker proposed in this paper can realize the current breaking from 10 A to 20 kA under the conditions, the clearing time is less than 2 ms. The research results show that the topology of Hybrid DC circuit breaker proposed in this paper has good applicability and feasibility.","PeriodicalId":298807,"journal":{"name":"2020 4th International Conference on HVDC (HVDC)","volume":"26 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113971462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Realizing the optimal dispatch of the integrated energy system is beneficial to improve its economic and environmental benefits. Aiming at the problem of insufficient consumption of renewable energy such as wind power, this paper proposes an optimization dispatch model of combining CHP unit and wind power generation. Coordinated constraints such as the uncertainty modeling of wind power in source side, the modeling of multi-energy flow of regional electricity in grid side, the comprehensive demand response on the load side, and the electrical heating of the storage side are included. Therefore, the optimization dispatch model proposed will optimize the output and load curve of each unit to increase the grid-connected wind power consumption and reduce the system load shedding level. In addition, this model aims to minimize the operating cost of the system, integrating “source-network-load-storage’ constraints, and calling Gurobi to solve it. Finally, the analysis results of specific calculation examples prove that this model can effectively promote wind power consumption and reduce system operation costs.","PeriodicalId":298807,"journal":{"name":"2020 4th International Conference on HVDC (HVDC)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115179069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The traditional voltage verification method is only suitable for large-capacity power supply systems, and ignores the fluctuation of the internal parameters of the system. This paper studies the transient characteristics of voltage when the microgrid is connected to the distribution network in an outage state, and proposes an effective prediction method. This method uses a tracing algorithm for Thevenin Equivalent Parameters based on complete differential equation to solve the equivalent circuit parameters of the microgrid, and uses the Thevenin equivalent parameters of the microgrid as the main input characteristic variables, and establishes a voltage prediction model based on the BP neural network. Finally, a typical low-voltage microgrid example is used to verify the effectiveness of the voltage prediction method.","PeriodicalId":298807,"journal":{"name":"2020 4th International Conference on HVDC (HVDC)","volume":"126 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134186123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many problems in the operation of 10kV sparse distribution network indicate that traditional fixed reactive power compensation is difficult to meet operating requirements. This paper proposes a power quality comprehensive compensator (PQCC), including parallel static synchronous compensators and series voltage regulators. Using PSCAD/EMTDC software, a system simulation model including a power electronic compensation device was established. The optimization method of compensation device location based on a certain compensation capacity is studied, and the best configuration plan of the equipment location is given. The article evaluates the performance of the distribution network with PQCC devices, and studies the electromagnetic transient characteristics under typical fault conditions. Combining the steady-state and transient characteristics of the system, the simulation results indicate that the proposed compensation device has a good effect in steady-state operations, and also has obvious reliability in transient conditions. The results have guiding significance for the design and construction of actual projects.","PeriodicalId":298807,"journal":{"name":"2020 4th International Conference on HVDC (HVDC)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134397103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, at moment there are no universal standards can be referred to for designing, testing and operating an HVDC CB. This review outlines the fault current interruption process of HVDC CB regardless of the internal current commutation principle. Requirements of testing current and voltage stresses from the system side are specified including two key performance indicators, which are energy dissipation capability and the duration of transient interruption voltage (TIV). The suggested test items are listed with reference to testing experience of different HVDC CBs for HVDC projects. Discussions on the test duties are also analyzed from different perspectives. Two potential test methods proved by experiments are presented. The latest progress on standards for HVDC CB is introduced.","PeriodicalId":298807,"journal":{"name":"2020 4th International Conference on HVDC (HVDC)","volume":"183 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133756080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the BTB MMC requires a lot of devices and large footprint. The compact dual-output MMCs, including nine-arm MMC, bifurcate MMC and modular multilevel matrix converter, can save the required devices at the expense of reduced operating range, which has not been thoroughly investigated. Therefore, this paper carries out a comparative study on the operating range of the traditional MMC and the compact MMCs to further clarify their merits and demerits.
