The pandemic has not only affected individuals' health and physical integrity, but has also transformed the world as we know it. Due to the necessary social distancing and isolation measures to reduce the contamination rate, the authorities have been forced to restrict circulation and enforce the use of masks, making it impossible to gather in large groups, including religious celebrations. The article aims to discuss the limits of the restriction of the right to religious freedom concerning the needs of protecting public health during the pandemic, and the role of the Brazilian Supreme Court in these circumstances. From the many understandings, we seek to present the process of the weakening of absolute truths that result in new possibilities of experiencing religion, especially Christianity. Based on the bibliographical research of Gianni Vattimo's works, we dialogued with other contemporary authors. The aim is to understand the eventuality process of being and the dissolution of values and metaphysical truths that sustain certain philosophical and religious fundamentalism and dogmatism. Tavares, Carlos Caroso, Rafael Losada Martins","doi":"10.29327/256659.14.2-5","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.29327/256659.14.2-5","url":null,"abstract":"We highlight the therapeutic aspects in a religious-based social movement that occurred in Jaguaripe, Bahia, in the 16th century, by identifying and analyzing the sequence of events that led a young indigenous man to separate from his group and convert to Christianity following Jesuit religious teachings and, once again, to separate himself from everyday life and fleeing to the Sertão. He returned to reincorporate to local society after experiencing profound transition, appropriation of elaborate rhetoric and foundation of a complex sect, which attracted followers among indigenous people, enslaved and freed black people, as well as the caraibas.
