It is noted that during this period took place in particularly difficult conditions associated with the spread of the coronavirus pandemic Covid-19, which was the biggest challenge to all of humanity. The article also examines the main results of Vietnam's activities in the field of politics, security, economy and social sphere. The authors note that one of the most significant achievements in the political and economic spheres during Vietnam's chairmanship in ASEAN was the signing in Hanoi of the multilateral economic agreement on the creation of the largest free trade area in history – RCEP, the discussion of which lasted for a long time. At the same time, it was not possible to resolve the issue and sign the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea in accordance with international law, UNCLOS 1982, as previously planned. The countries were forced to postpone negotiations with China on the conclusion of a Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, because it is impossible to hold consultations on such a sensitive and controversial issue in the format of video conferences.","PeriodicalId":298206,"journal":{"name":"South East Asia Actual problems of Development","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132448647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The demand of the growing Indonesian economy for oil much exceeds the capacities of its oil industry and each year Indonesia has to spend great amounts of money for importing oil and oil products. The government is trying to take all possible measures to attract new investments in this field but the lifting of oil continues to drop first of all due to the absence of proper investments into the exploration for oil and gas. The situation with the gas lifting is much better but a large part of its reserves first of all situated in the South China Sea can not used properly due to a high content of carbon dioxide in it. Besides, in this area Indonesian companies carrying out the exploration for oil and gas faces a military presence of China that regards it as its own territory.","PeriodicalId":298206,"journal":{"name":"South East Asia Actual problems of Development","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126966823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
