The noise in imaging sensors corrupts the color filter array (CFA) and introduces artifacts during the color interpolation step. Instead of filtering the noise before or after the color interpolation step, we remove the noise during the color interpolation step. This allows us to obtain a color interpolated image without noise and artifacts especially along the edges and in the detail of the image. Color interpolation is carried out on the weighted color difference domain to consider cross-channel correlation. In order to avoid artifacts in high frequency regions and improve the performance, an edge indicator function is used and directions of edges are considered in the proposed interpolation method. Interpolation artifacts are removed by the modified filtering on color difference domain. Experimental results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":295452,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127526456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our method, two viewpoints are selected as basis images for defining a projective 3D coordinate of the object scene in which the scene structure is recovered from the input multiple-view images. The 3D coordinate is defined by the image coordinates of the selected two basis images according to the epipolar geometry between those two images, which is represented by a fundamental matrix. The multiple-view images are also related to the projective 3D coordinate by their epipolar geometry to the basis images. Based on such a framework, we do not need to strongly calibrate the cameras, so we can recover 3D structure of the scene without effort for the camera calibration. In addition to that, we can also render free-viewpoint images from hand-held moving cameras. We will demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method by showing free-viewpoint images from multi-view images taken with hand-held moving cameras.","PeriodicalId":295452,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134179127","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We use freeform temporal registration of the non-rigid surface motion to recover chromatic information saturated by highlights. The diffuse and specular image components are then separated by shifting pixel intensities with respect to chromaticity gathered from the spatio-temporal volume. Results on in vivo data and reconstructions of 3D structure from the diffuse images show the potential value of the technique.","PeriodicalId":295452,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126623137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The key elements are the use of orientation selective rank features (ranklets), local filter adaptation and dynamic model update. A multi-scale vector of ranklets is used to encode a neighbourhood of each tracked point. The shape of the filters is optimised for each neighbourhood independently. Substantial appearance variations are catered for by maintaining a stack of models for each tracked point. This enables the system to recalibrate whenever the object reverts to its original appearance.","PeriodicalId":295452,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125610991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our method can prevent the jaggy and moire phenomena when the images are enlarged and shrank. The method contains three modules: halftone dots separation, gradation approximation, and vectorization. At the first module, small isolated areas and altered areas by dilation and erosion operations are separated into halftone dots images. At the second module, areas of halftone are approximated by contours and gradation parameters. At the last module, both halftone areas and line drawings are vectorized and approximated by smooth contours. The size of compressed file produced by our method is equal or smaller than JBIG compression. Validity of the proposed method is confirmed by experimental results.","PeriodicalId":295452,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115237300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally, discrete wavelet frame took the first order derivative of smoothing function into account, which is equivalent to Canny edge detection. The second order derivative spline wavelet has the ability to detect the variation of the edge width, and the finite impulse response is conducted in the paper. Additionally, statistical features in wavelet domain and fractal signature are utilized in the retrieval. Experimental results have shown that the proposed method is reasonable to describe the essences of the textures and can reach the highest retrieval rate (76.54%) comparing with Gabor Filter and first order derivative over-complete wavelet transform.","PeriodicalId":295452,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115713127","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper examines the possible benefits of this source of information to detect the damages caused by the flooding of rivers and lakes. As test case the Yangtze river flooding of summer 1998 was chosen. The interferometric coherence map was obtained using ERS tandem mission images during the flood and a pair dating December 1995. The low level of water surface coherence allows to segment the flooded areas in an easy way with respect to the method which exploits the backscatter intensity. The approach proposed is based on fuzzy connectivity concepts of the flooded areas with reference to the original river bed.","PeriodicalId":295452,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123150595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, performance of an ICA video watermarking scheme in comparison with those using classical domains, such as the discrete Fourier transform (DCT) domain, is still not clear. In this paper, we attempt to fill this gap. Therefore, we propose a video watermarking scheme, using an informed trellis, applied in two transformed domains obtained by using respectively the DCT transform and an ICA coding technique. We show that, for both domains, the scheme offers a good robustness against MPEG-2 compression, as well as an important capacity level. We consider in this paper data hiding in digital TV channels where data are compressed using MPEG-2.","PeriodicalId":295452,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005","volume":"90 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120872578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to ordinary motion and color clues, flame flicker process is also detected by using a hidden Markov model. Markov models representing the flame and flame colored ordinary moving objects are used to distinguish flame flicker process from motion of flame colored moving objects. Spatial color variations in flame are also evaluated by the same Markov models, as well. These clues are combined to reach a final decision. False alarms due to ordinary motion of flame colored moving objects are greatly reduced when compared to the existing video based fire detection systems.","PeriodicalId":295452,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121091106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
