The Nanogrid, a local modest-sized building energy system with power generation, energy storage, and real-time operation system, ranging from a residential home to a small commercial or industrial building, is a typical example. This paper aims to analyse the benefits for prosumers derived by adopting an intelligent electric energy management system that enables the optimal coordinated operation of the available resources within their Nanogrid. The optimisation objective is to maximise profits for the smart Nanogrid owner. The proposed energy management system is based on a dynamic programming algorithm implemented in MatLab on which is modelled the control system of the Nanogrid. The simulation result confirms that the proposed approach can be used in e realistic real-world case study.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127094741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To curb these threats, a number of authentication protocols have been developed. However, majority of them are sophisticated and still susceptible to privacy as well as security attacks. In addition, some of them have performance issues due to computationally expensive operations such as bilinear pairings. In this paper, a secure data exchange scheme for smart grids is presented based on lightweight elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) scalar multiplication and point additions. The security analysis shows that it is robust against common smart grid attack vectors such as packet replays, privileged insider and impersonation attacks. In addition, it offers perfect backward and forward key secrecy and secure mutual authentication among the smart meter, utility control center and the registration authority. In terms of performance, it experiences average computation costs and the best communication overheads among other related protocols.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126540299","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to satisfy user requirements and provide guarantees of reliability of the network itself, efficient techniques are required for analysis, evaluation and design. For this reason, the need arises to have models able to represent the peculiar characteristics of network traffic and to produce reliable predictions of its behavior in an adequate period of time. Therefore, network traffic prediction plays an important role by supporting many practical applications, ranging from network planning and provisioning to security. Several works so far have focused on building app-specific models. However, this choice produces multiple models that need to be properly managed and deployed across network devices. Therefore, in this paper, we explore different training strategies to reduce the number of models, adopting the Markov Chains to model mobile video apps traffic at packet-level. We discuss and experimentally evaluate the prediction effectiveness of the proposed approaches by comparing the performance of app models with models trained on a specific category of video apps and a model trained on the mix of all video traffic.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130464193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, the students were forced to face the lessons from home, which did not bring problems in the understanding of theoretical aspects, but turned out to be a problem regarding the laboratory activities, since they did not have the possibility to test on real instruments what they learned in theory. In this sense, this article describes the development of a remote laboratory in augmented reality, which allows instruments to be faithfully replicated on any portable device available to the students. Furthermore, by exploiting the protocols typical of the Internet of Things, it is possible to guarantee proper control of the real workstation by interacting with the one in augmented reality.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129814968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The receiving antenna operates at X-band and is compliant with the imaging modes of the FF-SAR, namely a stripmap mode for signal-to-noise ratio improvement (IM1) and a High-Resolution Wide-Swath mode for the monitoring of large areas (IM2). A large reflector has been designed to meet the high-gain requirement in IM1, while the wide coverage needed in IM2 is ensured by a reconfigurable patch array feed. Full-wave analysis shows that the designed receiving antenna achieves 37.42 dBi gain in IM1 and 12.1 degree half-power beamwidth in IM2.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121507800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present a real-time and robust approach for detecting and grasping different objects with a robot manipulator in a partially unstructured scenario. The proposed method is based on two steps: 1) the generation of a background model to localize the objects of interest and 2) the use of depth information to find the grasp pose. Quantitative experiments using a 7 degrees-of-freedom manipulator on different objects demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126481744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The process it done by reactions and heat transfer between the solids, presents on the descendent burden (Iron ore, pellets, fluxes and coke) and ascendant reducing gases, generated by the burn of fuels (coke and pulverized coal) in the low part of the reactor. These reactions result in hot metal, slag, blast furnace gas and other by products. The motivation for this role is the successful application of artificial neural networks in blast furnaces. The mathematical modeling accomplished in MATLAB R2020b used 17 input variables and 8 output variables, to develop a neural network to predict the production and quality control of hot metal in a blast furnace using a layer of 25 neurons.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126979339","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the world continues to adapt to changes that affect travel and movement, it was recognized the urgent need to design and deploy solutions that can keep business running while ensure the same level of accountability, trust and communication as ever. Among the different challenges faced in the last year, one of the major one was how to carry out Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on a short time and without on-site customers allowed visiting the factory. This paper introduces a new, modular, and cheap way to perform FAT from remote for sustainable industrial processes and it provides a brief description of its implementation by means of only Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware and software easily available on the markets. Methods and strategies are presented, including useful insights for Navigational Aids (Navaids) business and possible future improvements and enhancements.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123700148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even simpler embedded devices can shoot videos at 4K resolution. The combination of this rush to wider frames with the blooming era of Computer Vision (CV) constantly pushes the performance requirements of the underlying processing. Template matching is one of the CV's foundations as it enables the localization of objects inside images. It exploits similarity functions such as the 2D Cross-Correlation and its variants Normalized Cross-Correlation (NCC) and Zero-mean NCC (ZNCC). However, these computations do not scale gracefully with resolution. We propose two novel FPGA-based implementations with low hardware resource consumption for the 2D NCC and ZNCC for large-scale images. We succeeded in fitting our accelerator on the 3CG class of Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ ARM-based MPSoCs, among the smallest embedded-grade classes that do not even include dedicated CV hardware, which adds a 14% cost overhead, thus enabling accelerated template matching for local preprocessing in IoT applications. We achieve this while attaining a $boldsymbol{3.52}times$ speedup over non-embedded systems and remaining $mathbf{43.2}times$ more power efficient for NCC. Finally, to fully exploit the heterogeneous nature of our target hardware, we provide a runtime hardware selection algorithm to automatically target the proper hardware/software implementation for best performance.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129714543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
