Simplified pre-processing techniques of different level of approximation are considered. A comprehensive problem definition in proper analytical terms is given together with the expression of different interpolation and resampling techniques. Some numerical experiments on real data, constituted by power demand relative to a part of the Italian electrical transmission system give a quantitative idea of the effects of different possible approximations that can be utilized.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123140540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, in real-world applications, there can be data quality issues because the free stream wind speed is reconstructed through a nacelle transfer function from cup anemometers measurements collected behind the rotor span. Given these matters of fact, one of the objectives of the present work is applying an innovative method for correcting the nacelle wind speed measurements, which is based on the manufacturer power curve and statistical considerations. Three operating wind turbines, having 2 MW of rated power and owned by the ENGIE Italia company, are contemplated as test cases. Operation data spanning ten years (2011–2020) are studied: actually, this work aims as well at contributing to the methods for estimating the performance decline with age of wind turbines, basing on long term SCADA data analysis. The raw and corrected wind speed measurements are fed as input to a Support Vector Regression for the power curve: by selecting appropriately the training and validation data sets, it is possible to estimate the average yearly rate of performance decline. Using the corrected wind speed, the estimate obtained in this study is compatible with the most recent findings in the literature, which indicate a -0.17% decline per year.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116656330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the study consists of the identification of subclasses of STEMI patients with different characteristics and, potentially, different clinical or pharmacological needs. An ad-hoc mathematical model, describing the biomarker release process subsequent to AMI, has been devised and exploited to estimate typical parameter values, and to evaluate the impact of covariates on the cTnT release curve. Among all the available co-factors, the mixed-effect analysis has found dyslipidemia to be a statistically significant one. More specifically, it has highlighted a relevant effect on the model parameters related to cTnT clearance. By increasing the number of co-factors, and enlarging the patients dataset, this approach may be useful in the automatic categorization and to unravel potentially unknown interactions between cofactors in AMI patients.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129839002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Indeed, the possibility of exploiting these techniques for having energy consumption data in a unique aggregated metric is very attractive not only for the cost-saving (due to the installation of a reduced number of meters) but also for catching important information coming from the field and addressed to implement predictive maintenance paradigms on the devices of interest. As matter of fact, the continued analysis (by means of the NILM techniques) of each load behavior could enable in detecting of dangerous situations or also identify incoming slow faults occurring on the loads themselves. Although the NILM techniques have been deeply analyzed in the scientific literature, some lacks are related to the analysis of the impact of the measurement uncertainty on their performance as well as to the capability of correctly identifying the loads operating against the number of loads present. In this framework, this paper proposes a preliminary sensitivity analysis aimed at verifying the impact of the meters measurement uncertainty and the number of loads involved on the performance of a well-known NILM technique, i.e. the Combinatorial Optimization (CO). To this aim, several measurement accuracies, power metrics, and the number of loads have been taken into account. The achieved results prove how the considered quantities of influence generally affect the performance of CO and can also provide useful information to the designers of the measurement system as an example in defining the best feature to be used, the maximum measurement uncertainty for a given number of loads, able to warrant the target accuracy required by the specific application.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"138 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121318299","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four-wire impedance measurements are performed by using a low-complexity and low-cost approach. EIS data are fitted to an equivalent circuit model through a non-linear least-square regression algorithm. Two equivalent circuit models, with 6 and 9 parameters respectively, are scrutinized. The 9-parameters model is chosen as being more accurate. The uncertainty on extracted parameters is evaluated as the sample standard deviation over repeated measurement of the complex impedance, and by error propagation on the least-square estimator for each observation of a single impedance curve. Results of both approaches are compared, and even though there is a significant difference, they are shown to be equivalent for all practical purpose, i.e. for a hypothetical online battery monitoring system testing a battery when it is in use, extracting equivalent circuit parameters and their uncertainty from a single observation. Also the uncertainty is estimated for three different values of the injected current. The high relative uncertainty on some of the parameters suggests a sensitivity of the model restricted to a limited set of the parameters. The analysis of the sensitivity is left as an open problem for future investigations.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121563683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Particularly, the healthcare area is a prime concern, and during the Covid-19 pandemic the considerable potential of drones was highlighted both in terms of contrasting and overcoming the emergency. Indeed, their applications included monitoring for prevention, sanitization, and transfer (deliveries / collections) of material without approaching between operators and users of the service. This paper presents the service for equipment delivery by drone remotely operated, performed using drones for the delivery or picking up of small and medium-sized objects to/from the home of people subjected to quarantine. The users of these services can include all those who are affected by pathologies similar to the pandemic disease Covid-19 and who are forced into quarantine situations, finding themselves in an asymptomatic or symptomatic state.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121656234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pressure, heat and vibration are common energy sources produced by ambient and man-made energy. This paper addresses treadmill vibration energy harvesting in an optimised way to meet the energy requirements of portable electronics devices using unimorph, bimorph piezoelectric cantilevers and ceramic discs piezoelectric. Due to its design flexibility, piezoelectric transduction mechanism is one of the most used techniques for vibration energy harvesting. The feasibility of vibration energy harvested from treadmill was theoretically and experimentally assessed on different gender; male and female of different weights at different speeds and the output power were recorded. We seek to experimentally prove the hypothesis that bimorph piezoelectric cantilever is better in comparison to unimorph cantilever and ceramic disc cantilever. We also seek to experimentally prove that different human weights and treadmill speeds contributed to the output power generation.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122248463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The absence of smart sensors, valves, and cylinders hinder the reporting of real-time state information about hydraulic motion controllers and pipeline networks. Legacy HD lacks active and structured communication protocols like Ethernet-IP. Unfortunately, these hydraulic flow systems are poorly designed during large-scale deployment at both residential and industrial areas. Cases of leakages and failures still abound. In some cases, there are no reference standards for IoT integration with fluid flow systems. In this paper, Volumetric IoT (V-IoT) sensors are introduced to monitor hydraulic flow systems leveraging route genetic algorithm. A state diagram for leakage amplitude monitoring is presented. Considering its node-to-node connectivity for steady-state monitoring, the enhanced V-IoT, with Genetic and Fibonacci algorithms offered leakage amplitude of 23.07%, 30.77%, and 46.16% respectively.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116832750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a technique, it enabled clinicians to identify pathologic changes within a patient in realtime - changes which, until then, had only been identifiable posthumously by way of autopsy. In 1761, having spent seven years working in clinical settings, Auenbrugger published a work entitled “New Invention by Means of Percussing the Human Thorax for Detecting Signs of Obscure Disease of the Interior of the Chest”, in which he described four percussive tones, relating each to specific illnesses. The technique is still relevant today, but the sounds, of which 5 types have now been classified, are nonetheless tricky to identify as they are not so obviously distinct from one another. Training medical staff is therefore key, and in the light of the current pandemic, during which training opportunities with real live patients have been somewhat limited, interest in training with virtual patients has increased. The haptic virtual reality [3] simulator provides a means to this end, enabling excellent training opportunities for medical staff in a safe and economically viable environment.","PeriodicalId":294628,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 6th International Forum on Research and Technology for Society and Industry (RTSI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128543655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
