A workflow application is usually represented as a set of tasks interconnected via data. In most of the scheduling algorithms, the execution times of the tasks are pre-computed. However, the execution time of the tasks is computed based on the availability of computing resources. On the other hand, offering flexible and elastic computing resources can handle a large number of applications in order to utilize the resources efficiently and maximize the revenue generation. In this paper, we propose an efficient workflow scheduling algorithm (EWSA) which can handle a large number of applications simultaneously. The objective of the algorithm is to estimate the execution time of all the tasks dynamically. The algorithm also creates a suitable VMs with minimum resources such that the entire application can be executed within its deadline. Through simulation, we establish that the proposed algorithm performs better than the existing algorithm in terms of various performance metrics.","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134197848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the high dimensional dataset, traditional methods generally do not perform efficiently to cluster the data. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel metaheuristic method for data clustering based on k-means and improved cuckoo search to extend the capabilities of traditional clustering methods. The effectiveness of proposed method is tested on the three microarray datasets. Experimental results validate that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods.","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115171816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, image enhancement becomes an important step to improve the quality of image. Images are enhanced such that there is change in intensity or saturation component, keeping hue unchanged. Often, gamut problem arises when transforming from one plane to another. In this paper, the technique focusses on enhancing the contrast of low illumination images while at the same time maintaining the brightness. A function called exposure, is used in estimation of underexposed and highly underexposed images. The brightness of the input image is increased using transformation functions, which is then treated as target image so that the brightness of input image is adjusted close to target image, using histogram matching. The existing technique Exposure based Sub Image Histogram Equalization (ESIHE), is used to increase the visual quality, which is followed by guided image filter for edge smoothening. Simulation shows that this proposed technique has better contrast enhancement, brightness preservation, hue preservation and better entropy, without gamut problem.","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124420260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Developing a phonetic engine and enhancing its performance can lead to significant improvement in Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR). However only a less work has been reported in developing Phonetic engine on large vocabulary Kannada speech corpus. In this paper, the comparative study of speech recognition baselines: HMM-GMM, HMM-ANN and HMM-DNN are analyzed. Our first set of experiments use the Kannada speech corpus, which contains continuous utterances recorded in three different modes namely read mode, lecture mode and conversation mode. Context independent phone modeling is carried out on the three baselines and evaluated on different modes of the corpus. Phone Error Rate is measured and compared on all the three baselines. Acoustic modeling using HMM-DNN baseline shows significant improvement of about 7–8 % over HMM-GMM and HMM-ANN baselines.","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132894398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fundus images may consist of artifacts which occur during image acquisition and hamper the accuracy of detection of exudates. There is a need to develop an image processing based techniques for automated and correct segmentation of exudates from fundus images. This paper demonstrates an automatic computer vision algorithm for efficient identification of the exudates from fundus images by strategic fusion of techniques i.e. contrast normalization, top-hat transformation and average filtering. The proposed technique correctly detects exudates from the fundus images and rejects the artifacts and reflections. The average computation time for exudates segmentation from fundus images is 11 seconds. The proposed method is computationally efficient and robust and can be used for real time applications.","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128545447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Discrete Wavelet transform is used in concatenation with Discrete Cosine transform to form the feature vector. Initially, multi-level Discrete Wavelet transform is applied to images to obtain the approximation coefficients of image. Discrete Cosine transform are then calculated for the obtained approximate image. Hybridisation of DWT and DCT reduces the feature vector size significantly. Using this feature vector as input, SVM classifies the images. 2-Fold cross validation dataset is used to learn the SVM optimal parameter. Face images of three different databases i.e. AT@T, Faces94 and Georgia Tech databases are used to evaluate the efficiency of proposed technique for gender classification. Results show that the proposed technique performs better as compare to other state-of-art techniques.","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115221122","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Open Source and Commercial tools are two domains in close contention, with contrasting considerations such as accessibility and security. This paper aims at performing a comparative analysis of the various commercial and open source mobile device forensic tools, with respect to predefined software parameters and by employing a cross-device and test-driven approach. The test scenarios are structured to assess whether the selected tools possess the capabilities of a holistic one, while responding to threats and scenarios pertaining to the digital realm. The Commercial Tools under consideration are MOBILedit! Forensic (including Phone Forensics Express) and Cellebrite's UFED Physical Analyzer, while the Open Source Tools are — The Sleuth Kit (including Autopsy) and SANS SIFT. The result of this paper is a comparison matrix, which could help in identifying the best-fit solution as per the need of the investigation. It could also indicate the degree to which open source tools are comparable to (or better than) their commercial counterparts, and answer questions like — Can open source tools be a suitable replacement for the proprietary tools? Can this in reality, be a feasible shift for the forensic industry?","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126870934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among state-of-art protocols, it is investigated that although distributed color noncooperative selection (DCNS) protocol provides high throughput solution for RFID networks without any additional hardware requirements but it does not provide a complete collision free network. In this work, two contributions are presented: finding the flaws in DCNS protocol and proposed improved DCNS protocol with contiguous channel allocation for collision free network. Simulations have been conducted in order to analyze the proposed modifications. Results shows that the improved DCNS protocol provides better system throughput compared to state-of-art protocols.","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"287 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120974448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
