Out of all challenges users' centric context information based recommendation is one prime research area to recommend jobs, events and movies. Here in this research work we focus on movie context aware recommendation and for this purpose, we analyze users' posted movie tweets to understand their intentions for the same. Therefore, the objective of this research work is to predict genre of movies based on user's posted movie tweets and recommending movies to users' according to predicted genre. For this purpose, we pre-processed twitter extracted movie tweets using tokenization, porter stemming, stop word removal and use Word-Net dictionary for synonym matching. Further, we apply Latent Semantic Indexing technique which in turn involves Singular Value Decomposition on this pre-processed data and predicts genre on the basis of IMDb movie genre categorization. The predicted genre conveys the movie interest of the user and to recommend movie on the basis of predicted genre which is measured through euclidean distance. We have extracted IMdb given movie data and further predicted genre using our proposed technique. To validate this we divided our dataset using pareto principle and matched with IMDb given genre data set and achieved approximate 70% accuracy using our approach.","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115232061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Faster and more powerful processors have resulted in higher heat dissipation and power consumption. In this paper we present an offline algorithm called Temperature and Energy aware Dynamic Level Scheduling (TEDLS). It is able to schedule tasks in a heterogeneous environment with DVS enabled processors to minimize execution time, energy consumption and heat dissipation. We use a heat model to estimate the final temperature of a processor executing a task. This estimation of temperature is based on processor characteristics, which aids in choosing the cooler processors. Our simulation results have shown that the TEDLS algorithm not only results in processors having lower temperatures but also produces lower energy consumption as compared to the previous offline algorithms. The TEDLS algorithm also produces lower application execution time when the application size is small.","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115111746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of any research and development activity is to transfer ideas into products. Any such activity is useless if its benefits do not percolate down to the society. IITs have been established in India on the model of MIT, USA and are supposed to produce high quality technocrats, produce path breaking research and provide solutions to common problem & societal issues. In this context they ought to have a strong industry linkage as they cannot convert ideas into product at their own. In this paper we explore the linkage between the faculty of these institutes and industry through joint publications i.e. co-authorships. Co-authorship is one of the most tangible and well documented forms of research activity and is capable of providing intrinsic details about all aspects of research credentials of individuals, institutes, communities, organizations, etc. This study reveals that these institutes have not been up to expectations and need to strengthen their industry linkage if they want to transfer the knowledge from their confines to industry and fulfill their mandate.","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114272363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MOOC is offered by the institutions on an existing platform — with or without customization, or a new platform may be developed; in all cases, there is a need to specify the features required for quiz in MOOC. In this paper, we present a checklist of features for quiz incorporated in MOOC, from the learner's perspective. The use-case based approach has been followed for identifying the features of quiz in MOOC. The checklist helps during requirement specification of quiz in MOOC, as the provider can select the desired features from the checklist.","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128516509","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As per the nature of the workflow scheduling for cloud computing environment researchers are dedicated to find out the optimal or near optimal solution based on different heuristics. Another key issue in the recent years is handling workflow in heterogeneous cloud system that is paying significant consideration of the research community. In this paper, we propose a task duplication-based workflow scheduling algorithm for heterogeneous cloud environment which is centered on task duplication realization. The proposed algorithm has two phases. The first phase computes the priority of all the tasks and second phase goes through the scheduling with task duplication by calculating data arrival time from one task to another task. Proposed algorithm aims to minimize workflow execution time and to maximize the resource utilization. The performance evaluation of the proposed algorithm is done on benchmark scientific workflow applications with different task-cloud heterogeneity. Comparisons of the simulated results with the some existing workflow scheduling algorithms noticeably show that the proposed algorithm outpaces in terms of makespan and average cloud utilization.","PeriodicalId":294210,"journal":{"name":"2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132894167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
