Vector space model (VSM) has been widely used for document representation for classification, in which a document is represented by a vector of feature values based on a bag of words. This paper proposes a new feature for document representation under the VSM framework, class specific document frequency (CSDF), which leads to a novel term weighting scheme based on term frequency (TF), term presence (TP), and the newly proposed feature. The experimental results show that the proposed features, CSDF and TF-CSDF, effectively improve the performance of document classification in comparison with other widely used VSM document representations.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"143 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121448975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system is developed for the intended eventual use in human-computer interaction systems such as brain-computer music interfaces. It is evaluated for its ability to induce changes in a listeners affective state. The affectively-driven algorithmic composition system was used to generate a stimulus set covering 9 discrete sectors of a 2-dimensional affective space by means of a 16 channel feedforward artificial neural network. This system was used to generate 90 short pieces of music with specific affective intentions, 10 stimuli for each of the 9 sectors in the affective space. These pieces were played to 20 healthy participants, and it was observed that the music generation system induced the intended affective states in the participants. This is further verified by inspecting the galvanic skin response recorded from participants.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130309650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the number of parameters and logical layers considered is the key to getting accurate results. We extend our previous work of Complete Transmission Acknowledgement Scheme (CTAS) by running the proposed model on top of the physical layer. Effect of noise and the standard Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) scheme is implemented in the physical layer and analysed. The physical layer performance evaluation parameters such as Bit Error Rate (BER) and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) are selected and the results show that the proposed protocol outperforms other contemporary acknowledgement schemes.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132866306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both licensed and unlicensed spectrum solutions are being deployed and viewed as complementary in dealing with the wireless traffic explosion. For example, Wi-Fi is being used successfully to assist in offloading the more spectrally constrained licensed band systems. At the heart of Wi-Fi's success is the premise of fair co-existence so that multiple Wi-Fi system owners can deploy Wi-Fi access points in the same unlicensed spectrum in an unmanaged fashion. Given Wi-Fi's success, the idea of leveraging unlicensed spectrum with LTE is being proposed through a feature called Licensed Assisted Access (LAA-LTE). This paper reports our findings in designing LBT mechanisms for LAA-LTE to ensure that it operates at least as fairly as Wi-Fi in unlicensed spectrum. These findings are based on our simulation results of co-existence performance between LAA-LTE and Wi-Fi for different candidate LBT schemes as reported in this paper. It concludes that for fair co-existence LBT is essential for LAA-LTE, but also that the choice of LBT scheme and settings of that scheme matter, with those proposed in current European regulations likely to result in Wi-Fi being disadvantaged.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117083072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Emergency personnel may be late to give the needed assistance. Robots are more likely to play a key role in recovery efforts. However, many scientific and technical challenges have to be solved in order to achieve the full potential of using robots for search and rescue missions. This paper reviews current technologies that can be used in simulating the evacuation. Different methods are considered for the group behaviour simulation. Existing work on crowd simulation is analysed. Finally, simulators that can support robot models as aid for disaster evacuation and search and rescue missions are discussed.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134624363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To increase the scalability of conventional massive MIMO, the distributed large scale MIMO is recommended. Synchronization for distributed large scale MIMO is needed due to the lack of common clock source to synchronize the transmitters. Limited Inter-User Connected Interference Alignment for K-User is proposed for Large Scale MU-MIMO precoding scheme. Moreover, we discuss phase rotation factor estimation and compensation to synchronize the distributed large scale MIMO. The Interference Alignment algorithm with antenna selection also employed to show the effect of the synchronization in distributed large scale MIMO performance.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114148925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Training protocols based on alpha, theta, or theta/beta power calculated from Electroencephalogram (EEG) are commonly used in the neurofeedback training. However, when the standard neurofeedback protocols are used, the EEG recording is required before the training to obtain the training threshold for each subject. In this paper, we propose a fractal dimension (FD)-based neurofeedback training protocol with adaptive algorithm, which does not need any before-training recording. The algorithm is integrated in the Shooting game. The efficiency of the FD-based neurofeedback training in comparison with traditional individual theta/beta based neurofeedback training is assessed using Psychology Experiment Building Language (PEBL) tests such as matrix rotation (for spatial ability), change detection (for focused attention), math processing (for cognitive abilities) and test of attentional vigilance (for attention of vigilance). 40 subjects participated in the study. They were divided randomly into FD-based neurofeedback training group and theta/beta ratio-based training group. The results show that after neurofeedback training participants from FD-based training group has similar or better test performance than the one from ratio-based group.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132311989","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through computer control, rehabilitation quality can be maintained at a higher level. Meanwhile, all data generated from the rehabilitation training could be stored in the database and will be used by medical staff for further treatment evaluation. This proposed system is composed mainly of three parts, including a main server, a rehabilitation training platform and a mobile monitoring device. A wireless communication technique is used to connect these three parts. Internet and mobile communication technology are integrated into the system to extend the monitoring and control distance. Through collecting the pain scale of the patient, a nested loop evaluation mechanism is used to determine the rehabilitation flow. A programmable alert mechanism is embedded to maintain a safe rehabilitation environment through a user friendly operating interface, where the patient and medical staff are allowed to set up control parameters based on their responses and needs. The results show that the proposed system can be safely used to replace human massage, thus, rehabilitation manpower can be tremendously reduced. The self-learning mechanism will provide the patient an adaptive training environment, and better treatment can be achieved as a result. In addition, a complete electronic training data collection used during the training processes will construct an e-portfolio and greatly help diagnosis or therapy in the future. Furthermore, reliable rehabilitation quality can be maintained, and therapists' industrial injuries resulting from repetitive manual therapies can therefore be prevented.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125399860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite this new freedom to work ubiquitously, there are circumstances in which operating the device becomes difficult, e.g., when the hands are not free due to driving or other activities. Even though there are voice-control alternatives for operating smartphones, these do not perform well in crowded or noisy environments. In this paper we present EyeWink: an innovative hands- and voice-free wearable device that allows users to operate the smartphones with eye winks. The system records the Electrooculography (EOG) signals on the forehead by means of two facial electrodes. Eye winks are detected by comparing the potentials recorded from the electrodes, which also helps avoid false actuations due to (unavoidable) eye blinks. The user can associate the action to perform with each eye by means of an app installed on the smartphone. The proposed device can be widely used, with customers ranging from runners to people with severe disabilities.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126353569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
