This work describes a simple implementation of such a regulation mechanism in a two output forward converter. Moreover, the development of a complete steady state and low signal model ensures proper design and implementation. The model shows the inherent simplicity of the regulation procedure, similar to that of classical PWM regulators.","PeriodicalId":292317,"journal":{"name":"30th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference. In order to achieve independence between the rectifiers to facilitate standardized module design, the droop method is adopted. Traditionally, the method involves a trade-off between voltage regulation and load sharing. After parametric analysis, a novel droop method is proposed to avoid those limitations by using the gain scheduling technique. The analysis shows that the proposed method can achieve both good voltage regulation and good load sharing. The source output impedance of the proposed method is also proven to be better than that of the commonly used master/slave method.","PeriodicalId":292317,"journal":{"name":"30th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference. The compensated ring anode-short is based on the nonuniform ring short pattern on the anode-side to compensate the effect of nonuniform distribution of gate turn-off reverse voltage re-biased on the cathode-side. By additional local lifetime killer of proton irradiation, the new design i.e. compensated ring anode-short, enables us to attain better turn-off performance when compared to conventional uniform ring anode-short, resulting in high turn-off ability and low tail current for high current GTOs. Experimental and manufactured devices are presented to verify the new concept.","PeriodicalId":292317,"journal":{"name":"30th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference. Record. (Cat. One of the areas where flexibility is mandatory is the electrical primary power subsystem, due to the impact on solar array configuration and dimensions and on power conditioning unit. Use of the maximum power point tracker (MPPT) concept allows optimization of the above mentioned subsystem, maximizing the power transfer from the photovoltaic generator. The purpose of the paper is to present a new MPPT approach that allows minimization of the drawback caused by the intrinsic capacitance of the photovoltaic array (generally neglected) giving the possibility of operation with a large degree of freedom, independent from the converter topology and photovoltaic power generator, electrical network and technology.","PeriodicalId":292317,"journal":{"name":"30th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference. In adjustable speed PWM AC drives problems occur due to leakage currents, i.e. common mode currents resulting from the high motor voltage du/dt values versus the ground. These currents flow through the parasitic capacitance of the motor cable and the motor windings. In this paper an innovative low cost solution to mitigate common mode currents in a PWM current source inverter is proposed. The results are verified by Pspice(R) simulations.","PeriodicalId":292317,"journal":{"name":"30th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference. Record. (Cat. Based on the behavioral modeling technique (BMT), a model for electrical unit of traction is proposed. The probability density functions (PDF) of speed and notch numbers are obtained from long-term field measurement. The mean and variance of harmonic current of a single electrical unit is obtained based on the speed PDF and traction electrical unit model. The results of Monte Carlo simulation are in good accordance with the experimental and analytical conclusions. The harmonics of a different number of trains are systematically investigated. It is shown the total harmonic distortion decreases with the increase of the number of trains and the harmonic current per train decreases with the train number because of the harmonic cancellation.","PeriodicalId":292317,"journal":{"name":"30th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference.
