A solution has been proposed in literature, which involves replacing DFT with wavelet packet transform (WPT) in communication systems. WPT does not require CP and has the attraction of having much lower side lobes. However, in wavelet based multicarrier systems, channel equalization remains an open research area. In this article, a time-domain zero-forcing equalizer (ZFE) for wavelet packet based OFDM (WOFDM) is proposed. The performance comparison of DFT-OFDM and WOFDM is given for an arbitrary FIR channel with different types of wavelet packets. Simulation results show improvement in bit error rate (BER) performance for WOFDM.","PeriodicalId":291800,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129541767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

TDR delivers the complex propagation constant (attenuation and phase constants) of lossy cable transmission line as a function of frequency. The frequency-dependent propagation velocity is also determined from the TDR measurements through the parameters extraction procedure. The TDR measurement results for MV XLPE cable and covered-conductor (CC) overhead line are compared and it is proved that CC line has lower attenuation and higher propagation velocity than power cable. The measurement results can be used to localize the discontinuities in XLPE power cables and for PD detection to monitor falling trees on the MV CC overhead lines.","PeriodicalId":291800,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132321674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been shown that wavelet coefficients of natural images have significantly non-Gaussian statistics that are best described by families of heavy-tailed distributions. On the other hand, most of the edge information of layer boundaries in OCT images is located in the same direction. For these directional images, the use of heavy-tailed distributions does not seem to be appropriate for all wavelet decomposition subbands. So wavelet coefficients of the subbands which have almost the same orientation as the original image are modeled with heavy-tailed distributions such as the Cauchy, while the others are modeled with a simple Gaussian distribution. Within this framework, we design a maximum a posteriori estimator to remove speckle from noisy coefficients. Better results are obtained when we use the dual-tree complex wavelet transform which offers improved directional selectivity and near shift invariance property. Our results show that the proposed scheme outperforms some existing despeckling methods.","PeriodicalId":291800,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"94 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122700109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Implemented circuits, whether realized on FPGA or an ASIC is developed, it is made sure that resulting design should be optimized with respect to processing speed and area occupied. Much informative work has been already proposed and effective results have obtained in the research field of processing speed and area optimization. In this paper, the concept of hierarchical concurrent flow graph (HCFG) is utilized to present proposed coarse grained layered scalable concurrent image compression (LSCIC) precoder design with pipelined scheme. This design causes all modules to operate concurrently for fast and minimum data loss operation. This scheme will not only highlight the task partitioning procedure to operate all modules in parallel but also gives rise to the concept of pipelining with reasonable number of stages so that system remains optimized. Moreover, practical solutions acquired by simulating tools are presented in this paper with appropriate substantiation. This paper also addresses the issue of selected FPGA resource utilization depending upon the complexity of operation and hardware components placed in corresponding module.","PeriodicalId":291800,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127169044","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The wavelet transform is first performed to the original image, the bandelet transform is then applied to the high and middle frequency parts of the transformed image, and the texture and edge traced by using the geometric flow via feature of the image to yield the high frequency lossless watermarking. For low frequency part of wavelet coefficients, by selecting optimal matrix norm, a low frequency watermarking scheme is also achieved. A lossless watermarking approach composed of multi-frequency information is then proposed. The experimental tests show the proposed watermarking system is evaluated against standard watermarking attacks.","PeriodicalId":291800,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"7 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126202873","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Maintaining coordination and communication between agent groups, whilst relatively simple in the non-distributed paradigm, can impose a significant overhead on the developers of distributed/mobile agent systems. An architecture to simplify this task, based on IP multicast-based messaging, has been designed and implemented. It has been evaluated by employing it in the development of middleware to support a real-time sensor environment intended for use in contest-aware computing.","PeriodicalId":291800,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"271 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124389644","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
