However, the adoption of PLL may increase the complexity of the controller. In addition, the accuracy of the PLL can be impacted if the power quality of the power grid is distorted, and the inaccurate PLL output can degrade the performance of the controller. To overcome these issues, a number of non-PLL control strategies have been studied for the single-phase PV inverter. In this work, a novel non-PLL direct power control strategy (DPC) for single-phase H-bridge SVPWM photovoltaic (PV) inverters are proposed. In this strategy, instantaneous real and reactive power are calculated respectively by using voltage and current components with specific frequencies. Then a maximum power point tracker (MPPT) technique is integrated with the strategy to maximize PV generation. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. In this scenario the use of a Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) system has been of primary interest. This is crucial both for patient safety as well as quality of care. But the actual implementation process has had a very slow pace across the globe. Similarly in Pakistan there are a lot of issues in healthcare industry regarding the adoption of information technology in general and CPOE in particular. This is due to the reason that there is a lack of government initiative, technical infrastructure as well as adaptation of CPOE system to the context of Pakistani healthcare sector. This paper proposes a comprehensive framework to develop a Computerized Physician Order Entry System. The novel contribution of this work is that the proposed framework learns and develops a CPOE system based on physician experience. Further on this paper elaborates the working of the framework by showing an instance of it which is based on Ophthalmology specialty. The generated CPOE system spans all the three types of ordersets namely medication prescription, imaging diagnostics and laboratory testing.","PeriodicalId":291738,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 16th International Conference on Smart Cities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT & IoT and AI (HONET-ICT)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126555729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Towards tackling this problem, we in this paper propose multi-stream deep networks for the classification as well as temporal localization of robbery events in CCTV videos. In our multi-stream architecture, each stream is comprised of a pre-trained 3D ConvNet in combination with LSTM which is followed by softmax. In particular, we investigate three streams based on three different types of input: (a) RGB data, (b) optical flows, and (c) foreground masks. Each stream is trained independently, and the final scores are averaged for predictions.To test the approach, we compile a robbery dataset from YouTube, which contains 124 untrimmed CCTV videos. Empirical comparison with several state-of-the-art methods demonstrate the promise of our multi-stream model in both the classification as well as temporal localization tasks.","PeriodicalId":291738,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 16th International Conference on Smart Cities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT & IoT and AI (HONET-ICT)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132638524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, such range estimates are heavily affected by shadowing that can be caused by obstructions of the line-of-sight radio frequency (RF) signal. Multilateration using several range estimates obtained from RSSI can lead to large errors in sensor location if one or more of the range estimates are affected by shadowing. In this paper, we present a scheme that applies spatial correlation and a clustering mechanisms to remove the effect of shadowing in range based location estimation. We show the effectiveness of this scheme in minimizing the adverse effects of signal outliers using simulations.","PeriodicalId":291738,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 16th International Conference on Smart Cities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT & IoT and AI (HONET-ICT)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123490055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This coordination may involve configuration and control of IoT devices/controllers from Android/Windows devices. We design, develop and test an SNMP/MIB based control API for IoT devices that enables Android and Windows machines to manage SNMP enabled IoT devices remotely via network. It is a client/manager design that uses SNMP protocol to operate on management information bases of any managed device and multiple client devices can register themselves with the manager. For testing purpose, client runs on Android device and manager can run on both Android and Windows device. We test this API in both LAN and WAN setting and report various parameters including round trip time, trap delay and device internal delay time for both getting and setting MIB values. This delay computation is very important for time critical applications of IoT.","PeriodicalId":291738,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 16th International Conference on Smart Cities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT & IoT and AI (HONET-ICT)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129920063","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These appliances are divided into three categories along the memory property of their utility functions, which are described as full-memory, partial memory, and memoryless appliances. The energy management system is formulated as a convex optimization problem which is solved daily to determine optimal appliance settings for the day. This paper provides a weighting-based mechanism to the overall utility function to scale for the relative importance of individual appliances. Our results indicate greater user satisfaction can be achieved by parameterising the objective function around appliance importance.","PeriodicalId":291738,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 16th International Conference on Smart Cities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT & IoT and AI (HONET-ICT)","volume":"191 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121194909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mental health rehabilitation in particular is an area that stands to gain from innovations in this field. Debilitating medical conditions related to traumatic brain injuries, aging, and drug abuse, can take advantage from the benefits that these applications provide. Coupled with IoMT (Internet of Medical Things) sensors and machine learning, effective system implementations that predict mental rehabilitation outcomes can be built. This can help in administering better treatment protocols. The collective use of these technologies for therapeutic approaches to alter patient behaviour at a physiological level falls in the emerging field of Digital Therapeutics (DT). In this paper, the current state of AR for mental health rehabilitation is described and used to motivate the implementation of a proof of concept mental DT rehabilitation system developed by us. Similar AR-IoMT systems can reduce inpatient counts in smart cities where an increase in aging populations is already a concern, and existing healthcare resources may be clogged up due to minor inpatient health checkups. In addition, the paper discusses the deployment challenges of the implemented system, which include the lack and need thereof of a standardized protocol for IoMT data collection and analysis for cross interoperability across different healthcare providers and vendors.","PeriodicalId":291738,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 16th International Conference on Smart Cities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT & IoT and AI (HONET-ICT)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121651124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This trend will saturate soon especially due to the unintended thermal noise that is dissipated, as the density of transistors on the chips increase and as the corresponding electronics approach their physical limits. There is a need to implement new processing and computing techniques [2] with more compact size, lower power consumption and enhanced performance. Neuromorphic computing mimics the parallel processing of the mammalian brain and the quantum decoherence within the neurons, and seems to be promising for future applications and needs high speed electronics [3] . Quantum computing could enhance the functionalities, storage capabilities, and data manipulation and transmission, for the next generation of devices. Spintronics is an enabling technology to meet the speed, power, and scalability requirements for quantum information and neuromorphic computing [4 , 5] . The non-volatile nature of spintronic memory could help to tackle power efficiency challenges of microelectronics. Spin of a material is directly related with magnetic, electrical, and optical properties. It is necessary to investigate materials and understand their properties to control and manipulate their spin and use for spintronic applications. However, most materials show conducive properties for spintronics at cryogenic temperatures, which limits their practical applications. There is a need to investigate spintronic materials for quantum applications at room temperature (RT).","PeriodicalId":291738,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 16th International Conference on Smart Cities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT & IoT and AI (HONET-ICT)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115037646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Realizations of these photonic waveguide structures require precise control of the nanoparticle size. A full understanding of the mechanisms of nanoparticle formations is critical, to develop protocols for ultra-monodisperse nanoparticles. Herein, we evaluate the prevailing hypothesis in the formations of thiol ligand-passivated monodisperse gold (Au) nanoparticles, that the formation of Au-thiol polymer [Au-SR]n is the necessary precursor to the nanoparticle formation. This hypothesis predicts a specific onset of the Au-thiol polymer formation at the Au-to-thiol molar ratio of 1:3. Using glutathione (GSH) as ligand, we correlated the onset of the Au-thiol polymer formation with the emergence of fluorescence associated with the polymer, and with the nanoparticle formation upon reduction. We observed the solvent-dependent onset of the fluorescence in methanol and water at the Au-to-thiol molar ratios of c.a. 1:4.5 and 1:2, respectively, deviating from the prevailing model.","PeriodicalId":291738,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 16th International Conference on Smart Cities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT & IoT and AI (HONET-ICT)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122062928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It fosters the definition of a digital twin of the city, namely a cyber-physical counterpart of all the city systems and sub-systems. Here we propose a novel approach to UI that extends available frameworks combining advanced multidisciplinary modelling of the city, simulation and learning tools with numerical optimization techniques, each of them specialized for the digital representation of city systems and subsystems, including not only city infrastructures, but also city users and their interactions. UI provides sets of candidate policies in complex scenarios and supports policy makers and stakeholders in designing sustainable and personalized solutions. The main characteristics of the proposed UI architecture are (a) fully multidisciplinary integration of city layers, (b) connection and evolution with the city, (c) integration of participative strategies to include “human-oriented” information, and (d) modularity of application.","PeriodicalId":291738,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 16th International Conference on Smart Cities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT & IoT and AI (HONET-ICT)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122178512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
