The engine uses 98 % hydrogen peroxide as oxidizer and HTPB (Hydroxyl-Terminated PolyButadiene) as fuel. The condition, that is essential to initiate self-ignition in this system, is the application of a catalytic reactor, which enables the decomposition process of liquid hydrogen peroxide into the mixture of steam and oxygen with the temperature 800 950 deg C. The research has been based on the use of different catalyst materials as well as various configurations of catalyst beds. During the research (hot tests) the following parameters are collected: pressure and temperature at the end of the catalyst bed and the thrust of the engine. The evaluation of the ignition delay (that is counted from the start of the HTP flow) is made on the basis of the chamber pressure as well as on the video recording of the fire test.","PeriodicalId":291224,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the Institute of Aviation","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128145478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The number of batches of the pellet catalysts were prepared by simple wetness, impregnation method. In all cases the researched samples of the catalysts were impregnated with a precursor solution of potassium permanganate resulting in the formation of manganese oxide catalyst after the baking process. The primary assessment criterion performed after the preparation was percentage catalyst loading with respect to weight. The effect of various support kinds and the modifications of preparation process on the final properties of the catalyst has been evaluated. The activity and the durability have been assessed through the hot tests. The practical validation and application of the catalyst is its utilisation in the fixed catalyst bed in the rocket propulsion devices.","PeriodicalId":291224,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the Institute of Aviation","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126426861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the beginning, the concept of energy efficiency in buildings is presented, its importance and impact on the environment. Then, the article discusses the current situation, the trends in Europe and the potentials of this sector together with the most important legal issues related to the topic of energy efficiency. The next section explores the effects of buildings on the environment, in particular, through heat loss. The article also outlines the importance of research methods and thermal imaging. Specifically developed unmanned aircraft classification is adapted for the use in thermal studies. The topic is discussed in terms of both the characteristics and structure, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the use of such solutions. Possible paths of development in this subject are presented, as well as problems and concerns. The last part focuses on the example of the use of unmanned platform to study thermal imaging of a residential building. This is a case study carried out in December 2014.","PeriodicalId":291224,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the Institute of Aviation","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123599394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
