Due to the lack of a suitable measurement infrastructure, DSSE usually relies on the use of power injection pseudo-measurements derived from the knowledge of the historical and statistical behaviour of loads and generators. The uncertainty of these pseudo-measurements could not fit with the normal distribution typically considered in DSSE. For this reason, suitable approaches have to be designed both to model the pseudo-measurements uncertainty and to consider it in the DSSE process. This paper proposes a DSSE algorithm based on the Bayesian theory able to handle appropriately pseudo-measurements with any uncertainty distribution. The procedure used to cluster different categories of prosumers and to generate the pseudo-measurement parameters provided as input to the DSSE is also presented. Tests on a low voltage network show the applicability of the proposed approach and the associated benefits.","PeriodicalId":290041,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems (AMPS)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116749250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several challenges prevent an easy development of the state estimation tools needed to assess the operating conditions of distribution networks. The lack of a suitable measurement infrastructure is one of the most challenging aspects to face. However, in last years, several utilities started a massive deployment of smart meters in their networks. The proper use of these measurements is key to enhance the performance of distribution system state estimators. This paper presents a two-level approach conceived to efficiently include smart meter measurements in low voltage grid state estimation. The proposed solution relies on a cloud-based smart metering architecture, which allows scalability and interoperability among different off-the-shelf meters. Moreover, a suitable design of the estimation algorithm, using the uncertainty propagation theory, is proposed in order to maximize the accuracy of the estimation results. Tests performed on a sample low voltage network show the performance and the main features of the proposed state estimation solution.","PeriodicalId":290041,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems (AMPS)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127586152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A number of techniques have been proposed for the assessment of the network harmonic impedances to be practical and noninvasive. This paper presents an improved noninvasive assessment technique for the evaluation of network harmonic impedances. Rapid voltage change events are evaluated to determine their validity for harmonic impedance calculations. Data filters based on the network under consideration is also introduced. Harmonic impedance values are derived for each validated event and the statistical median of the results is used to represent the network harmonic impedances. It enables an online and noninvasive tracking of network configuration and validation of simulated results.","PeriodicalId":290041,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems (AMPS)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128781231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is based on a solid cylindrical shunt, whose sensing circuit runs through a straight hole drilled in the shunt itself. Compared to other solutions proposed in the literature, typically based on coaxial or cage configurations, this approach allows a more compact size, a simple mathematical modeling of the current distribution due to skin effect (therefore less complex mathematical solution of the optimization problem) and a cost-effective manufacturing process. Experimental results obtained from a shunt prototype are reported, which confirm the validity of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":290041,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems (AMPS)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121125219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rogowski coils fall within the so-called “low power passive current transformers” category. The main disadvantage of easy-to-use split-core Rogowski coils can be overcome by adding a simple ferrite core at the clasp: short-circuiting the magnetic path by a soft magnetic part in the region where the winding density cannot be kept constant leads to a near perfect independence of the ratio error on the position of the primary conductor. A well-characterized winding support ensures an absolute error low enough to be acceptable for billing purposes.","PeriodicalId":290041,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems (AMPS)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121386337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The implementation of these controls is expected to result in increased device efficiency, improved controllability, higher operating power factors and reduced harmonic emissions. The interactions of individual PE devices and their controls with the supplying network are analyzed in this paper in terms of the total harmonic distortion and emission of main low-order harmonics, which are then used to assess exchanges of powers at fundamental system frequency and nonfundamental (i.e. harmonic) frequencies between the individual PE device and the grid. Based on this analysis, the paper correlates the obtained results for harmonic performance and efficiencies over the entire range of operating powers of the considered PE devices, calculated in accordance with the standard definitions and using some alternative interpretations.","PeriodicalId":290041,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems (AMPS)","volume":"10 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129048950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
